Chapter 2340: Cannot be Demigods

Chapter 2340: Cannot be Demigods

"No. They cannot attain the status of a demigod if the legends about them are true. One cannot become a demigod when they are cursed by devouring a Frost Elemental King. They must have used something that could produce such power but that would mean getting their hands on a material that could defy the laws of nature." Vayu stated.

"Unlike Levin Cloud, I do not know all the details about the Season Trees, but the Winter Tree fits your description." Adrian stated.

"Huh? What are those? Even we do not know of this Season Trees, but I do know that there was a powerful Frost Elemental King back then. They said that the Frost Elemental King had a promise which is why they did not go to Alfheim like the others." Vayu stated.

"We are back! All the ice has been melted!" Soleil announced as she returned from restoring the village back to its unfrozen state.

"It took quite a while, but we managed to melt all the ice. The wood elves also did their best and performed maintenance on the blessing given by the gods. Did we miss something?" Peridot stated.

"Not much as we are speculating on the power level of the enemy. The fact that both you and Frey were frozen without even resisting is alarming. Also, I am explaining about the Winter Tree which is part of the Season Trees." Adrian stated.

"He mentioned those to me once, but I already forgot about them. I am not really interested in trees, but I am interested in stones. I remember that these Season Trees can create what they call Spirit Stones of the element they represent." Peridot stated.

"You are correct as that is one blessing of the Season Tree, but they are actually an offshoot of the Tree of Life or the Tree of Death. The Summer Tree and Spring Tree is an offshoot of the Tree of Life while the Fall Tree and Winter Tree is an offshoot of the Tree of Death. You can say that those trees are the reason why there are seasons in this world." Adrian stated as the wood elves also came and listened attentively as if he was spreading the words of the gods.

"So, the seasons are not because of the invisible lines that run through the world? Or the location where the place is?" Frey asked as she found this intriguing.

"Yes. In fact, all of the continents in this world experience the four seasons because of the Season Trees. There might be some places where the seasons heavily favor another but that is also an influence of the Season Trees. Take the Northern Continent for example. The northern continent is where the Winter Tree is located which is why it has more winter season than any other place." Adrian stated.

"If that is the case then destroying the Winter Tree should enable the northern continent to have some sun." Village Chief Taran stated as she raised her hand, but her statement left the Adrian and the elves in extreme shock.

"That is a very human approach that you can destroy a force of nature itself. Only gods could destroy things such as divine trees but even they would have to sacrifice most of their power to do so. A divine tree is connected to the world itself and is naturally protected by it. Still, destroying a divine tree is not impossible as some of us here know what happened to the Tree of Life back then." Adrian stated.

"They can destroy a divine tree if they have a poisonous substance that is created by a god." Peridot stated.

"Or one can perform a taboo that will result in the destruction of an entire species. A curse so powerful that it could weaken the divine tree and let it slowly die to the point that they can harvest things from it." Adrian stated as he looked at the Frost Elf being handled by Charon.

"Does that mean the Frost Elves did something so taboo that their entire species is now being slowly eradicated? What can they do that a divine tree that they are supposed to protect has cursed all of them?" The wood elf group leader asked.

"That is what our group will find out. The tales of the Frost Elf match the things that they have done as taboo but all of it are tales from before. It is only passed through stories and not through writing which is why the stories might have transformed because of creative personal decisions." Adrian stated.

"Lord Equinox, did you just say your group?" The wood elf group leader asked.

"Yes. All of you have done well and it is now time for you to return to the territory for now. The visit to the other villages will be put on hold as we will not be able to accompany you. All of you deserve to rest seeing that some of you are not yet battle trained." Adrian stated as he could see that some of the wood elves were pushing themselves to do work even if they are still a bit afraid.

"But… I understand. Please call upon us when Envoy Levin Cloud has been rescued and if the village visits will continue." The wood elf group leader stated.

The wood elf group leader wanted to push through as this was supposed to be their chance to prove themselves. This is the work that should have let them gain experience to become masters of their craft. Although the wood elf group leader was disappointed, she knew that the others were putting on a façade that they are still fine. The fear in their eyes could be seen as they would often glance at the direction of the frozen forest.

"You have fought bravely and protected the injured even though all of you were pushed to battle. Do not think that all your efforts were in vain because all of you have saved people from dying." Adrian stated as he pointed to the wood elves to look behind them.

"Thank you!" The warriors of the tribe and even Village Chief Taran gave a salute to all of the wood elves.

"Thank you as well for not dying on us. May life be blessed for all you." The wood elves stated as the fear that crept in their hearts were vanquished by the admiration and sincere hearts of the warriors.

Adrian created a gate for all of the wood elves to enter and return to Avalon. All of them wanted to help more but they understood that they would just drag the others down. They are not powerful warriors of the cold, but they engraved that they will be powerful enough to be absolute pillars of protection.

"Master, I have succeeded in reaching this one's brain." Charon stated as the Frost Elf Scout look like a string puppet, but the strings were chains that controlled his soul.

"How much can you control?" Adrian asked.

"Almost everything but it seems that there is an information in the depths of their soul that even I should not peer through. If I forcefully access that then the soul of this one would have the risk of shattering." Charon stated.

"We still need him intact for now so please hold off in accessing that part. Is the puppet ready for questioning?" Adrian asked.

"Yes, master. He will answer to the best that he can." Charon replied.

"Is this allowed by the Gods of Life and Death?" Frey asked as she could see that the Frost Elf Scout would definitely become catatonic after all of this.

"This is actually forbidden but could be used on some occasions. Since the Frost Elf species committed a taboo regarding the Winter Tree or something related to it, they no longer have the protection of the gods of death. Thanatos would not have backed down if their race was taboo free." Adrian explained.

"Wow. The gods of death are very flexible in their thinking." Frey added as she learned something new.

"Oh! You are very wrong. The Gods of Death are the strictest of them all. They are absolute rule followers, but should you do something that is against the rules then you have an example here." Adrian stated which made Frey shiver as she remembered that the Goddess Freyja has some of her divinity related to death.

"Tell me. Where did you take the Forest Guardian?" Adrian asked the limp Frost Elf Scout.

"Forest Guardian?" The Frost Elf Scout stated as its head suddenly look up as if it was activated.

"Yes. The Forest Guardian." Adrian affirmed.

"Taken… to our… sanctuary." The Frost Elf replied.

"Where is your sanctuary?" Adrian asked.

"Our… sanctuary? It is… where the… Winter Tree is." The Forst Elf Scout added.

"So, the Winter Tree is still alive but why did you take the Forest Guardian?" Adrian asked.

"Need the… Forest… Guardian… as a sacrifice. To cleanse… our curse." The Frost Elf Scout replied which horrified Adrian.
