Chapter 675: Chapter 516: Confronting the Power of the Eternal Sky; The Travels of Henos_2

Her waist was slim, her chest now boasted an enticing curve, and her long legs were as straight as the saplings of spring. Her golden hair fluttered gently in the breeze.

She took down the armor from the weapon rack and put it on herself.

Then she picked up a long spear and a short knife.

Holding the former, she made two thrusting motions forward, while the latter she tucked into her belt.

After attending to these preparations, Henos’s face displayed hesitation. Turning sideways, she looked towards the long corridor outside the garden, where at the end of the intricate columned hall stood two guards in golden armor, as still as statues, loyally watching over the area. Further beyond, over a grass-covered hill, the golden spire of the “Dawn” had already been erected.

With the Planet Engine’s rumbling, azure torrents of energy surged upwards, piercing the clouds, the intense energy reaction causing distortions in the surrounding void.

The leaden clouds were also stirred, forming a massive vortex.

Accompanied by flashes of lightning,

Occasionally there were also the deafening roars that surged with the wild winds.

Henos opened her arms, feeling the cold wind repeatedly lashing against her face, the vulnerability in her eyes slowly strengthening into resolve.

She knew her father was about to leave this world, but before that, she had other matters she wanted to attend to. Since her birth, she had spent most of her time in this small garden, like a bird caged. She listened to the ocean tides, heard her visiting brothers talk about markets and towns, so she wanted to see for herself what the world was truly like.

Another matter was to retrieve the bones of her elder brother.

As the sole recipient of the Great Clan Chief’s affection, Henos, though young, could feel a subtle divide between herself and her siblings.

Of all her relatives,

The only one who maintained a good relationship with her was the Star-casting Golden Dragon, Kulika.

As one of the earliest born Descenders, Kulika had lived a happy time on the human’s mother planet.

Henos once sat with him on the soft grassy slopes, listening to the chirping of cicadas and the sound of streams colliding with the rocks. Looking up at the starry sky together, Kulika told her that his greatest dream was to return to the mother planet and then gradually rebuild it into the image he held in his memories.

But now…

Kulika was dead, and even his remains had fallen into others’ hands.

Henos decided to find a way to bring back her brother’s remains and fulfill this last wish of his.

She had never done or even thought of going against the Great Clan Chief’s orders. To do such a thing now… Henos hesitated for a moment. However, having made her decision, she should hurry. Clenching her fists and placing them in front of her chest, Henos took a few quick breaths before reopening her eyes with no trace of confusion on her face.

She took a step forward, which caused the petals on the altar’s edge to flutter down.

Stepping into the arcade and continuing forward. As she passed by the two guards, her whole being gradually etherealized, her presence diminishing to near non-existence. One of the guards seemed to notice something, looking back for a moment. At the edge of the flowerbed blooming with violets, a girl in pure white ceremonial robes sat on a bench, holding an exquisitely bound ancient book in her hands.

He withdrew his gaze, letting go of the last flicker of distraction in his mind and continued to fulfill his duties loyally.

The Henos they were tasked to guard stood not far ahead in the plaza at that very moment.

Relieved to see that the measures she had taken successfully deceived the guards,

Henos couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

However, thinking about how her current reckless actions might bring unnecessary punishment to those two, a shadow fell over Henos’s originally cheerful mood.

“If I’m quick enough, I should be able to keep it from my father, so I don’t have to worry about the two of them,” Henos reassured herself.

With a light tap of her feet,

Without a sound, she rose and shot through the clouds as a golden beam of light.

As a Second Generation Descender, and perhaps the strongest among them, navigating the void was as instinctive to Henos as breathing.

Feeling the gale on her face, the thunder exploding near her ear, and several grey-feathered birds weaving through it all, Henos’s mood gradually relaxed. Especially when she flew past a towering mountain range and a lush plain suddenly came into view, the bustling cities and massive monasteries scattered like colorful jewels on a splendid tapestry, Henos let out a small exclamation of awe.

“This is the city my brother Kulika spoke of; I never imagined the view would be so spectacular,” Henos yearned to immerse herself in it and experience the life within first-hand.

But remembering she had more important matters to attend to, she had to put aside these whims.

Transparent wings unfurled behind Henos, flapping lightly. With each breath, her speed surged again, and black lines explosively spread through the surrounding void. Her velocity now vastly surpassed the speed of sound, and despite moving through the atmosphere, where such speeds would typically meet tremendous resistance, Henos left no trace behind her in the sky.
