Chapter 678: 517 Awakening_2

Chapter 678: Chapter 517 Awakening_2

This process was quite smooth.

Henos’s eyes brightened, quickly locating Jialuo’s position.

“That direction is… the Duel Arena?” Henos was somewhat surprised, “Was he captured to be a Gladiator? I wonder what state my brother Kulika is in now?”

Before seeing his brother’s remains with his own eyes, Henos still wanted to hold on to that bit of hope.

The circular Duel Arena was covered with a layer of ivy, now in a closed state, with hardly anyone inside, but the sandy ground within bore a crimson stain of blood. It seemed that not long ago, someone had fought fiercely, and the battle was extraordinarily brutal. The Duel Arena, situated on the mid-slope of Taibola Volcano, emanated a terrifying aura from within, making Henos somewhat hesitant for a moment.

But she also knew that in the presence of such beings,

The distance between several hundred meters and several thousand meters is actually no difference at all.

Since she had entered the Blood Realm, it meant that the other party was indeed in a critical state and had overlooked her presence.

Realizing this, Henos took a deep breath and stealthily moved forward. First, she observed the Duel Arena from above, then found the entrance to the prison below. The entrance was sealed by a heavy iron door, behind which lay tangible darkness. However, this was no trouble for her, as Henos’s body became slightly ethereal, easily ignoring the rusty bars on the iron gate and entering the interior.

A whiff of decay and moldiness instantly enveloped her.

The environment inside was intricate and interconnected, the ground damp. Due to geothermal heat from the volcano, the atmosphere was warm. The walls were built of thick stone, some adorned with iron nails and chains resembling torture devices. The stains of dark red blood on them sent chills down the spine. The deeper she went, the darker it became, with only the sounds of heavy, beast-like breathing echoing intermittently.

Demons, human prisoners, ancient races from the eternal heavens… The mighty beings imprisoned here were too numerous to count, but these were not the source of Henos’s fear.

What she truly feared lay beneath her feet.

Through a layer of rock that was not too thick, that monster was breathing deeply.

The entire volcano was trembling lightly, and Henos felt as if she was walking a tightrope over Volcanic Melt. Making any unnecessary noise and awakening the creature inside would certainly mean her death. Cold sweat broke out on Henos’s smooth forehead, trickling down her cheek, to finally drop gently from her sharp chin.

Plip!

With a swift move, she passed through the long and deep corridor in front of her.

Then, descending a spiraling staircase, she reached the deepest level of the prison.

Two fully-armed Dragon Guards approached from ahead, casting a dark red glow from the fire behind them. Henos held her breath, slightly shifted her body, and slipped straight through the gap between the two guards. One of the Dragon Guards seemed to sense something amiss, pausing briefly, but quickly resumed his pace and gradually moved away.

Only then did Henos let out a sigh of relief.

“Is brother Jialuo imprisoned here? But what to do next, how to bring him out?” At this point, Henos began to hesitate.

She didn’t stop, continuing forward, and after turning a corner came to the deepest cell.

A massive prison loomed ahead, and through the stone bars, a faint silhouette of an enormous figure could be seen in the dark rock cell. Different from what Henos had imagined, he… or now it might be more appropriate to describe as “it,” the creature was lying on all fours, with well-developed muscles and reddish skin, its breathing slow and heavy. The stench of blood wafting through the bars hit Henos’s face again and again.

“This is…”

For a moment, Henos almost thought she was perceiving an illusion.

She instinctively stepped back.

Closed her eyes and reopened them.

The scene before her had not changed, a creature that seemed to be a Purgatory Demon Hound from myth was lying before her.

And this crimson and brutal monster was emitting an aura unmistakably like her own brother’s.

In Henos’s memory, Jialuo was a somber person who liked solitude, hardly getting along with other siblings besides Kulika. His temperament was not bad, merely unable to tolerate the pretense of closeness among brothers. Henos remembered seeing him in the temple, reciting poems in the shadows, his raven black hair soft against his pale skin, his facial expression delicate and sensitive.

But now…

The figure from her memories gradually overlapped with the monster before her.

Henos’s eyes brimmed with tears, her heart aching so fiercely she couldn’t breathe, barely able to imagine the atrocities committed against her brother by those people.

She saw the pale lines formed by the tearing of the skin after the excessive growth of muscle, the circular notch on his neck, and the torture device stabbed into the spine for control… and finally, those inhumane, savage, crimson pupils.

Roar!

The edges of the Bloodthirsty Demon Dog’s mouth split, its muscles taut.

In the next instant, it made a fierce hunting movement, pouncing forward.

The chains that were directly nailed into the spine trembled violently, the whole prison shaking intensely, dust falling from the ceiling above.

Henos’s heart raced, her limbs numb as she heard footsteps approaching from all directions. The jailers in charge of the prison had noticed something amiss and were now rushing over rapidly from every direction.

Moreover, the disturbance was still escalating; the large bell hung over the Duel Arena was struck, the sound spreading outward. Many people stopped what they were doing, first looking up in astonishment, then as they realized what was happening, they excitedly pulled out weapons from their embrace, their battle intent boiling over.

“Damn it, damn it, damn it!”

Henos, her head soaked with cold sweat, took a deep look at her brother, then turned and fled.

She no longer hoped to bring her brother back. Transformed to this degree, even the Great Clan Chief could not save him, perhaps death would be a release.

But Henos could sense the formidable life aura on him.

Even for her.

To thoroughly kill the Purgatory Demon Hound would still take some time.

What Henos lacked most was time. The terrifying entity within the volcano seemed to be gradually awakening, the scorching breath coming through the rocks filled her with dread. Henos leapt, two Dragon Guards approaching head-on. By now they had noticed the abnormality, the Long Spears in their hands gathering a fearsome cold glow, without a word they chopped down.

Bang!

Henos raised her hand to block.

The petite figure burst forth with strength completely incongruent with her size.

The two Dragon Guards were sent flying, crashing heavily against the walls to each side, forming spiderweb patterns of cracks spreading outwards.

Henos followed up with a distorted air Spiritual Shock, not delivering a fatal blow, but the huge gap in spiritual power was enough to send the Dragon Guards into unconsciousness, temporarily losing their combat ability. When she reached the next floor via the staircase, the corridors became much wider, and relying on her memory from the way there, Henos sped up, ghosting through the maze-like prison.

A blinding light suddenly exploded before her, the prison’s main gate slowly lifting open.

Outside, in the sandy battlefield, stood a tall red-clothed girl holding a circular spiked Scepter, now raising her hand and pointing forward.

Boom!

Henos also punched forward ferociously, causing a tremendous explosion.

In the towering waves of energy, Henos’s figure flashed like lightning, a white stream ripping through the air, suddenly darting towards the direction away from the Blood Realm.

Roar!

Within the penetrating white light.

The immense body of Domineering Dragon soared up, its wings unfurled wide, the overbearing Dragon Power like a gray iron curtain, suddenly sealing off the road tightly.

Henos let out a long howl, her Armor shining brightly, her slender waist drawing back, Long Spear shooting forth from her hand.

In the sky, thunder flashed wildly, the curtain manifested by Dragon Power torn apart.

Yet, Henos’s speed, which was at its peak, suddenly stalled, slowing down.

A look of despair appeared on her face as she stretched out her hand to retrieve the Long Spear that had fallen to the ground. Turning to look back, volcanic ash and flames shot into the sky, forming a gigantic mushroom cloud, with a crimson hue inside that resembled a pile of burning charcoal. A terrifying majesty exploded in the void, rolling out flat, like a series of invisible hands, instantly capturing Henos within!
