Chapter 22 THE UNASSUMING FELLOW

"Thrilled right?" Morris who previously left Kaelen behind suddenly came back to him as he asked with a smirk on his face.

"Who wouldn't be?" Kaelen answered with another question while he watched the auraless boy approach the girl he just defeated who still on the floor.

"Well you are right. Although he can be really low key with his auraless body, but that doesn't change the fact of how strong he is" Morris suddenly said with an helpless smile on his face.

"Wait, you know him?" Kaelen quickly asked when he heard what Morris said as he have a questioning look on his face.

"Well, kind of. He is the only son to my family's chief guard, although we see each other in the family, but we haven't had a conversation yet" Morris answered as he shrugged his shoulders.

"Damn.... But you know, you actually haven't told me anything about your family ever since we became friends" Kaelen suddenly said as he watched the auraless boy uses his hand to help the girl up to her feet.

But before Morris could give Kaelen an answer, a dialogue has already begun between the auraless boy and the girl.

"Thank you for the help" The girl said in a straight and flat tone.

"Anytime. But now you should know that you aren't my match, there is no need to suffer yourself" The boy said in a calm and serene tone while he kept a light smile on his face.

"No Ethan. I have never given up on anything I want to achieve and it will not start now, so goodbye for now" The girl replied with a determined look now on her face.

Right after that, she didn't hesitate to turn and planned to leave before her eyes landed directly on Kaelen. Coincidentally, Kaelen was also looking at her so there eyes met.

When the girl saw this, she quickly felt her cheeks burning up inwhich led her to quickly run out of that place.

"Huh? Why did she run off like that?"

"Hey, do you know who she is?"

"I don't think I do. But I must say, she's beautiful"

"Not only that, but she is strong to some extent. Damn, why can't I get someone like that in my life?"

While the little crowd which was formed to watch the fight between the mysterious girl and Ethan began to have discussions amongst themselves, Ethan suddenly turned to look towards Kaelen direction.

'Huh? Is he looking at me or Morris?' Kaelen thought in confusion when he noticed Ethan looking towards their direction. But he wasn't able to confirm who Ethan was looking at exactly as he suddenly vanished out of the platform a few moments later.

"Hey, we should go to our lounge now. I don't think my stomach can endure my hunger for food for long" Morris suddenly said in a pained and wry voice.

"Ok then, let's go" Casting everything he thought about Ethan's strange action aside, Kaelen suddenly said before both him and Morris began to walk out of that place.

The sun was beginning its descent, casting long shadows across the grounds of the Pace Setter Academy. The imposing buildings of the academy, with their grand architecture and magical wards, loomed majestically against the evening sky.

Kaelen and Morris, now dressed in their new internal students' uniforms, walked side by side along the cobblestone paths, heading toward the lounge area.Kaelen glanced around, taking in the sights. The campus was a blend of ancient and modern, with old stone structures covered in ivy sitting alongside sleek, newly-built facilities.

The air was filled with the faint hum of magic, a constant reminder of the academy's prestigious status. Students moved about in groups, some engaged in animated discussions, others deep in thought as they prepared for the challenges ahead.

Morris, who was currently under a struggle of enduring the hunger he had suddenly have a thoughtful expression on his face.

"You know," Morris began, breaking the comfortable silence, "it's still surreal being here, isn't it? This place feels like it's brimming with history and secrets."

Kaelen nodded, his eyes scanning the intricately carved statues that lined the path. Each statue depicted a legendary figure from the academy's past, their names etched into the stone bases. The statues seemed almost alive, their eyes following the students as they passed by, a silent testament to the academy's rich legacy.

As they approached the central courtyard, the heart of the academy, Kaelen noticed the atmosphere becoming more vibrant. The courtyard was a hub of activity, with students from different years mingling, sharing stories, and exchanging magical knowledge.

The space was dominated by a large fountain, its waters shimmering with a soft, magical glow. In the center of the fountain stood a statue of the academy's founder, his arms outstretched as if welcoming all who entered.

Morris gestured towards the fountain. "It's said that if you toss a coin and make a wish here, the founder's spirit might just grant it," he said with a grin. Kaelen smirked, amused by the tales that circulated around the academy. "Well, if that's true, I've got a few wishes to make."

They continued past the courtyard, entering a quieter section of the campus. Here, the buildings were smaller, more intimate, and the pathways were lined with lush gardens. The lounge area was located in this peaceful part of the academy, a place where students could relax and unwind.

As they neared their destination, the sounds of the bustling courtyard faded, replaced by the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds.

The lounge building itself was a cozy, welcoming structure, with large windows that offered views of the surrounding gardens. As Kaelen and Morris approached, they could see a few students already inside, some reading, others chatting softly.

The atmosphere was calm, a stark contrast to the intensity of the training grounds and lecture halls.Pushing open the wooden doors, Kaelen felt a wave of warmth and comfort wash over him. The interior was furnished with plush chairs and sofas, arranged in small clusters around low tables.

A fireplace crackled in one corner, adding to the cozy ambiance. The walls were lined with bookshelves filled with a variety of texts, from magical theory to novels and histories.

"Off to the kitchen!!" Morris suddenly exclaimed as he hurriedly dashes towards the kitchen area that is right behind the plush chairs.

"You can go check the rooms upstairs!!" but not long after Morris ran into the kitchen, Kaelen heard him shout from there.

"Ok!" Kaelen replied before he began to walk towards the door not far from the fire place. Right after that, Kaelen didn't waste any time as he went through the door.

What entered his line of sight right after is a slightly long hall with three on each side of the hall walls. After observing the place for a few moments, Kaelen quickly went towards the last room at the left side of the hall.

After arriving in front of the door, Kaelen quickly opened it and entered it. What he saw right after is a room filled with simplicity.

The centerpiece of the room is a single bed with a neatly made, crisp white duvet and a set of soft, light gray pillows. The bed frame is crafted from polished wood, giving it a sturdy yet unpretentious look.

Beside the bed, a small nightstand holds a simple lamp, its warm light casting a gentle glow across the room. A single, well-worn book rests on the nightstand, suggesting a space for quiet reading and reflection.

The walls are painted a soft, neutral color, adding to the room's serene atmosphere. A single piece of art—a framed painting of a peaceful landscape—hangs on the wall, providing a touch of color without overwhelming the space.

Opposite the bed, a wooden dresser stands, its surface uncluttered except for a small, potted plant that adds a touch of greenery and life to the room. The floor is covered with a simple, beige rug, soft underfoot and complementing the overall neutral color scheme.

The windows are dressed with light, sheer curtains that allow natural light to filter in, brightening the room during the day.One of the room's most appealing features is the small balcony accessed through a sliding glass door.

The balcony, though modest in size, offers a delightful view of the academy's gardens. A single chair and a small table provide a perfect spot for enjoying a quiet morning coffee or evening tea while taking in the fresh air.

'Now this is just perfect for me' Kaelen thought with a satisfied look on his face.

"What are you doing here?" But it wasn't long before Kaelen heard a deep and solemn voice right behind him.

"Who is there!?" Caught off guard by the voice, Kaelen quickly exclaimed as he hurriedly turned to face his back. And who he saw made him have a confused look on his face.

'Ethan?'
