Chapter 332 Honey Pot? Lethal Mercury! One Strike, Instant Kill!
At the sound of the voice, everyone turned to look and saw a young man in a green floral shirt, walking towards them with a group of people dressed in Morning Star uniforms.
The man appeared to be in his twenties, walking with a slightly swaying gait, giving the impression of being rather out of place. His triangular eyes, focused on Donlow, were filled with an unmistakable desire.
Upon seeing him, the two soldiers immediately said, "Mr. Lightless, we were just about to come find you. These two are members of Morning Star, here to carry out a mission…"
Before the soldier could finish, Lightless waved his hand dismissively and interrupted, "I heard what you said already. No need to repeat it."
He then turned his gaze toward Luca and Fuzzsir, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. "I know you're from Drumph, and I know you're here to try to access the node."
He smirked, his tone icy. "But I'll make it clear—except for Miss Donlow, neither of you will be allowed to enter today."
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere in the area immediately became tense.
Luca had anticipated this, so he wasn't too surprised. After all, the allure of the high-tier node was still incredibly strong.
"Lightless, are you planning to defy orders?" Donlow's eyes flickered with undisguised contempt as she spoke coldly.
Behind Lightless, a young man with a bronze-colored complexion, sporting a buzz cut, crossed his arms and spoke up. "Miss Donlow, you can't put it like that. After all, Wind City has been allocated to us by the Eastern Territory, and that high-tier node is naturally ours as well. You Northern Territory people suddenly show up and expect to enter without saying a word—don't you think that's a bit unreasonable?"
Donlow frowned and retorted, "This node was jointly cleared by the Northern Territory and Eastern Territory. Why can't we go in?"
"Exactly, I think you're just looking for trouble, you honey badger!" Fuzzsir shot a glare at the man, his eyes narrowed in anger, speaking fiercely.
"Honey badger?" The buzz-cut man, Halwind, twitched involuntarily. Veins were popping on his forehead; it was the first time in his life he had been called that.
Lightless, however, seemed too tired to engage in further conversation. He waved his hand dismissively. "Since we've given them a chance and they didn't appreciate it, let's show them some consequences."
As soon as Lightless's words fell, Halwind, who had been unable to contain his anger, immediately stepped forward. Flames flickered in his hand, coalescing into a crimson longsword. Thick, scorching heat billowed from it, resembling a red-hot branding iron.
Halwind looked coldly at Luca and the others. "Do you leave on your own, or should I escort you out?"
"I'll take care of it!" Fuzzsir immediately crawled out of the car window, slipping out like an eel. After landing on the ground, he waved his hand, summoning his black skeletal staff. One by one, skeleton monsters broke through the cement ground and stood before him.
"You'll be lucky if I don't beat you so badly that even your mother won't recognize you." Fuzzsir lifted his chin and glared at Halwind. With a flick of his staff, the nearby skeletal monsters lunged at him.
They moved with lightning speed, their bodies flickering as they appeared in front of Halwind and the others in the blink of an eye. With glowing, hollow eyes and fiery flames swirling around them, they raised their bone blades and struck with full force.
Lightless and the others never expected Fuzzsir to act so suddenly. By the time Halwind reacted, he hurriedly swung his sword to block.
A deafening crash echoed as the bone blade collided with the fiery longsword, sparks flying in all directions. The sheer force of the impact sent Halwind flying backward, only barely catching himself when Lightless reached out and grabbed him. If not for that, he would have crashed straight into the cars behind them.
Even so, the overwhelming power forced him to spit out a mouthful of blood.
"He's a madman." Lightless cursed inwardly as he felt the immense force in his hand. He had heard of Fuzzsir's reputation from the Northern Territory before, knowing the man had a loose screw and didn't act according to reason.
But now, seeing him in action, Lightless realized the rumors had actually been quite tame—this wasn't just a man who didn't follow logic; he was a full-on madman!
Still, this gave them the perfect excuse to act. Lightless shouted furiously, "What are you staring at? Surround them! Don't let a single one escape!"
His subordinates quickly reacted, drawing their weapons and surrounding Luca and his group. Donlow's hands crackled with white energy, while Luca, calm as ever, slowly drew his newly forged Starseeker.
The gleaming blade reflected the light, casting a brilliant glow that illuminated the faces of those around him. Calmly, he spoke, "I don't care who you are. Either step aside, or face the consequences. I'm giving you one chance."
Before Lightless could respond, one of his subordinates couldn't hold back any longer.
A lackey stepped forward, pointing at Luca and angrily shouting, "Who do you think you are, talking to our boss like that? Do you know who our boss is in the entire Eastern Territory—"
Pfft! The lackey's words were abruptly cut off.
He looked down in surprise, feeling at his neck, only to find a glaring, blood-red stain.
The look of confusion in the lackey's eyes quickly turned to one of terror. He tried to speak, but all that came out was the sound of bubbling gas.
Then, more and more blood surged from his neck, dripping steadily onto the ground.
Soon, his head slid off his shoulders, falling to the ground with a dull thud, all while Lightless and the others watched in stunned rage.
The scene fell into complete silence. Lightless and his companions stared at the familiar head on the ground, unable to move, as they stood frozen in place.
Did he really just kill someone for no reason?
It was unthinkable. These weren't just ordinary people—these were bona fide members of Morning Star.
Especially after the game's arrival, Morning Star's status had skyrocketed. Even the officials and military forces had to show them respect when they saw them. This was exactly why they had the confidence to act so arrogantly.
But what they hadn't expected was that there was someone here even crazier than Fuzzsir.
"Everyone, kill these traitors!" Lightless's face turned crimson with rage. It was the first time since joining Morning Star that someone had dared to kill someone in front of him.
As he spoke, two gleaming daggers appeared in his hands, and a silvery liquid began to flow from his palms, quickly dyeing the blades of his daggers silver. Explore hidden tales at My Virtual Library Empire
Luca's eyes narrowed at the sight, immediately recognizing the ability.
S-Class ability — Deadly Mercury! After activating this ability, the player's attacks guarantee a poisoned status on the target, with a chance to apply Deadly Mercury, which drains 1% of the target's health per second for 30 seconds.
Deadly Mercury was a top-tier assassin ability. In Luca's past life, he had seen a Transcendent-level player with this ability, who was part of the Imperial Judicator organization in Autumn Kingdom. That player had terrifying strength, capable of taking down Transcendent-level monsters with ease.
He hadn't expected someone from Summer Country to also possess this Deadly Mercury ability.
Unfortunately, they had crossed paths with him...
Upon hearing Lightless's order, Halwind and his lackeys didn't hesitate for a second. They immediately charged forward.
Spells, sword qi, blade lights, and blood-driven skills came flying toward Luca and the others in a whirlwind of attacks.
The two soldiers who had been guarding the road were now utterly stunned. They never could have imagined that the situation would escalate into a full-on battle so quickly. For a moment, they were completely at a loss as to what to do.
As the skills rained down upon them like a storm, Luca and his companions' expressions remained unchanged.
"I'll take care of it." Donlow spoke, and with a sudden surge of white energy, a towering, mountain-like phantom materialized before the three of them, completely enveloping them within its massive form.
The skills launched by Lightless and the others collided with this energy-formed mountain, instantly shattering into countless shards of colorful starlight, dazzling like fireworks bursting in the sky. The white mountain trembled, but there was no sign of it breaking apart.
Lightless's eyes narrowed slightly as he saw this. He realized that Luca and his group were far from as simple as they appeared, so he immediately discarded any underestimation.
However, even with this level of power, thinking they could pass through them was a pipe dream.
"Break it!" Halwind's figure flashed, appearing atop the mountain-like energy.
His fiery long blade sliced through the air with a thunderous crash, slamming down onto the white mountain.
The blazing flames directly consumed the white peak. Though they didn't break through the defense, they caused a thin crack to form at the peak's top.
Donlow furrowed her brow, about to channel more energy to reinforce the defense when, suddenly, a silver figure darted across the sky, making her expression change involuntarily.
"Northern Territory trash, if this is all you've got, you might as well surrender now." Lightless sneered, his silver-white daggers flashing as they ruthlessly stabbed into the crack.
Boom! With a deafening roar, the energy shield enveloping Luca and his companions shattered violently. Donlow's face went pale.
Halwind didn't waste a second. He let out a loud laugh, flames bursting around him. The previously isolated crimson flames surged toward Luca and his companions like an unstoppable tide.
Seeing this, the people from Eastern Territory thought the battle was won. Luca and the others had no chance of turning things around. But no one noticed that, just as the flames were about to engulf them, Luca and Fuzzsir moved almost simultaneously.
Boom! Thunder roared in the sky as terrifying bolts of lightning shot toward the earth like spears. At the same time, the ground below shattered violently, and a massive, hundred-meter-long black skeletal dragon emerged, protecting Luca and his group within its gigantic form. The dragon roared upward, sending shockwaves through the air.
Roar!!! The gray death energy surged, and the flames that were about to consume Luca and the others instantly vanished without a trace. Simultaneously, the lightning spears in the sky descended upon Lightless and his group.
By the time they reacted, it was already too late to dodge.
Boom! The violent force swept through the surroundings, and the blinding lightning consumed Lightless and his companions.
Their screams echoed through the sky, and the acrid scent of burning flesh filled the air. As the smoke cleared, the skeletal dragon gradually faded. Aside from Luca's group and the two ordinary soldiers, no one else was left standing.
Lightless and his group were sprawled on the ground, their bodies blackened, their hair singed, foam bubbling from their mouths as they convulsed uncontrollably.
What do you think?
