Chapter 373: The Sudden Arrival of the Chaotic Monster

In the core area of the Imperial Capital, at 104 Third Avenue, a luxurious villa stood. A high-end black sedan pulled up in front of the villa. The car door opened, and Sky James quickly scanned his surroundings with a somewhat panicked expression.

He hurriedly exited the car and made his way toward the villa's entrance, quickly entering the villa. Once inside, he slammed the door shut behind him.

"Your actions will only arouse more suspicion," came Luca's voice from behind, tinged with a hint of teasing.

"I was just trying to prevent you from being discovered. Who knows, the three major families might have been secretly tailing me the entire time," Sky James replied, his voice filled with concern.

"You're the most talented remaining member of the James Family. Do they not trust you?" Luca's voice was calm, but with an edge of curiosity.

"I'm just playing it safe. If the family head finds out I'm working with you, my fate will surely be disastrous," Sky James explained as he gradually calmed himself during the conversation.

"Alright, enough about this. Let's move on. I'll take you to see the Zenith Technology Company's intel," Sky James said, his voice now more focused.

After confirming that the villa's front door was securely shut and there were no suspicious individuals nearby, Sky James led Luca deep into the villa to the study.

"All the intel is here," Sky James said, motioning to the piles of documents in front of Luca.

"Take a look at these files quickly, I'm starting to feel uneasy. I have this strange feeling someone has been following us," Sky James urged, his tone growing more anxious.

Luca, however, didn't respond to the urgency. All of his attention was fixed on the files in front of him.

Most of the documents provided were useless to him; the information on them was already known to him. After quickly scanning through the majority of the files, he finally found a crucial piece of intelligence.

"One of Zenith Technology Company's important laboratories was attacked by Northern Territory's Morning Star half a month ago!" Luca read aloud the sentence, his voice steady but full of gravity.

Sky James, who was standing beside Luca, appeared slightly puzzled.

"What's wrong? Is there an issue with the intel? I can assure you, all the information I've gathered is accurate," he replied earnestly, his tone sincere. Luca couldn't detect any signs of deceit.

In Luca's memory, however, Northern Territory's Morning Star had only launched attacks on four monster-infested locations two weeks ago.

There were also three battle locations where he had personally participated. This meant that the important laboratory mentioned in the intel was located at the fourth site where monsters were entrenched.

"Nothing," Luca replied briefly.

Since he had already reviewed all the documents, there was no reason to stay and waste any more time.

"Keep hiding in the Imperial Capital and continue gathering intelligence for me regarding Zenith Technology Company and the major families. I will compensate you accordingly," Luca said before turning to leave.

However, just as he was about to step out of the study, he suddenly shoved Sky James backward with force.

Caught off guard, Sky James was sent flying, crashing into the study's wall before coming to a halt with great difficulty.

Sky James struggled to get up, his expression filled with confusion and suspicion.

Before he could open his mouth to question Luca, he suddenly felt the room was filled with chaotic energy.

Purple smoke flooded the entire study.

"What the hell is going on?" Sky James muttered in shock.

No one answered him.

It was as if Luca had vanished into thin air.

In this situation, Sky James naturally did not dare to act recklessly. He gripped his weapon tightly and remained on high alert, scanning his surroundings.

The next moment, a white beam of light shot past his face, almost grazing him.

The purple smoke dissipated, revealing a clearer view of the surroundings.

A few meters away, Luca was battling a gigantic chaotic monster, level 70, wielding the Starseeker, which radiated a white light.

The battle had already destroyed almost all the furniture inside the villa.

"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and help me!" Luca shouted, though his voice was laced with urgency.

Although Luca was incredibly powerful and had reached level 70, even he found it difficult to face a level 70 monster alone before completing his second professional change.

Moreover, the fight was taking place in the heart of the Imperial Capital. If the battle caused too much noise, it would attract a lot of attention.

Luca didn't want his movements to be discovered by anyone else.

So, as he fought, he also made use of his advanced skill, Dreamweaving Mist.

Dreamweaving Mist enveloped the area surrounding the villa.

Everyone within the range of Dreamweaving Mist fell into a deep sleep, which is why the ongoing battle remained undetected by others.

At Luca's prompt, Sky James quickly launched an attack on the monster. Although his strength wasn't particularly impressive, he was still able to pose a significant threat to the monster since it was being occupied by Luca.

The joint attack from the two of them left the monster unable to defend itself.

The battle didn't last long before the monster decided to turn and target the weaker Sky James first. Naturally, Sky James had no chance against a level 70 monster. He could only run in circles to avoid the monster's attacks.

On the other side, Luca finally had the opportunity to fully unleash his power. He retracted the Dreamweaving Mist that had been surrounding the area and activated the radiant magic runes embedded in his body.

With the enhanced power of the Starseeker and Obsidian weapons, a violent flash of light surged toward the monster, accompanied by a large wave of Dreamweaving Mist.

The intense flash of light heavily wounded the monster, and the Dreamweaving Mist followed closely, putting the monster into a state of unconsciousness.

The level 70 monster was thus subdued by Luca.

However, Luca didn't intend to kill the monster directly. If such a high-level monster were to be killed on the spot, it would certainly cause a massive disturbance.

He glanced at Sky James to assess his condition. Once he confirmed that Sky James had suffered serious injuries but that his life wasn't in danger, his worry eased somewhat.

"It seems your intuition was correct. The monster that had been following us was this one. I'll take responsibility for dealing with it," Luca quickly said before leaving with the monster in tow.

After resting for a while, Sky James struggled to his feet.

"So, this mess is left for me to clean up alone? I'm really starting to regret teaming up with you," he muttered, though it was clear he wouldn't back out of the cooperation with Luca. After all, he had already fully betrayed the James Family. If he were to betray Luca too, there would be no way out for him.

Sky James could only gather his strength and quickly begin to restore the villa to its original state. Though the villa was his secret hideout, and usually no one visited, he couldn't afford to take any chances. If any members of the three major families showed up unexpectedly and discovered the abnormality in the villa, it would be very difficult to explain.

While Sky James was cleaning up the battlefield, Luca took the unconscious monster to the outskirts of the Imperial Capital.

He was now more than ten kilometers away from the defensive magic array of the Imperial Capital. The area was desolate, with nothing but ruined buildings surrounding him.

Here, he could finally take a closer look at the monster's condition.

The level 70 monster appeared to be a massive octopus, with numerous tentacles, each adorned with a multitude of eyes. During the battle, these eyes emitted purple smoke continuously.

From both its appearance and battle style, the giant octopus-like monster seemed to be a servant of Zenobia. However, Luca felt that if it truly were Zenobia's servant following him, Zenobia herself would have shown up in person by now.

"You definitely don't have much to do with Zenobia. Let me delve into your dreams and see who sent you to follow me!" Luca muttered to himself as he took a deep breath.

Focusing his mind, he entered the monster's dream world.

Although this was dangerous, it was the fastest way to obtain valuable intelligence.

The monster's dream was chaotic and disorienting, with absurd and bizarre scenes passing by in rapid succession. Amid the many strange images, Luca suddenly came across one that seemed very familiar.

In this scene, there were numerous experimental devices from Zenith Technology Company. Two people wearing lab coats were engaged in a heated argument. The lab coats they wore clearly belonged to Zenith Technology Company.

This indicated that the monster had been sent by Zenith Technology Company.

The dream world soon collapsed entirely, and Luca was pulled out of it.

"It seems I underestimated Zenith Technology Company's threat," Luca murmured to himself. "The destruction of the Dragon Gate Mountain laboratory must have caught their attention. Sky James had previously investigated the secrets of the Dragon Gate Mountain laboratory, and that must be the reason why Zenith Technology Company has been targeting him."

Luca quickly pieced together all the clues. The threat of Zenith Technology Company was becoming increasingly apparent. He felt that he had to hurry to another known Zenith Technology Company laboratory.

"Sky James is indeed in danger right now, but I shouldn't warn him. If I do, it will only make Zenith Technology Company pay more attention to him," Luca thought carefully before deciding not to alert Sky James.

On one hand, he didn't want to draw any more attention from Zenith Technology Company to Sky James. On the other hand, he didn't want to cause Sky James to panic. If Sky James learned that he was being watched by Zenith Technology Company, he would likely fall into a state of extreme anxiety. Every move he made would become increasingly erratic.

Having made his decision, Luca took the unconscious monster back to the 102 Shelter. He had decided that he would kill the monster there and conduct further analysis of its origins. After all, Professor Leipoder was at the 102 Shelter and could provide additional expertise on the matter.
