Otherworldly Desert Dust

Chapter 307 - 262: The Survival of the Rat

```
Like a living fortress standing tall, even more majestic and grand than Lun Mountain Fortress, built with reinforced concrete, new materials, and heavy armor!
This is Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace!
It took strides like that of a mountain, stepping over the sky above Wu Hen’s head, then raised its head and emitted the Earth Core Magma that turned hundreds of kilometers into the Fiery Fire Domain!
The temperature of the magma reached the ultimate extreme, not even a tenth of the fiery burst formed by the sum of all human Sleeve Fire Devices could match Ksitigarbha’s Molten Breath, as seen by the tyrant tiger armor and Silver Winged Mantises left in the wild, which were burnt to ashes under this tremendous Earth Fire, much like insects before a flame-spitting giant lizard.
Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace’s Molten Breath engulfed the Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros, a being covered with a pitch-black high-dimensional carapace, who stood there allowing the fiery high-temperature Earth Core Magma to flow over its body.
Facing the colossal energy attack from Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace, the Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros actually used its arms to meet it!
The mountain range plates were flattened by Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace; outside Lun Mountain City, a shocking plain appeared, filled with ashes. The intense flames surged from the surface, replacing the dense forests and turning into a glaring fiery red.
Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros was being roasted, and finally, near the far canyon, it managed to subdue Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace. Huge cracks appeared on its arm’s carapace, spreading from the arm to its entire body.
At this moment, its Mourning Robe Horned Wings unfolded, like the wings of a regal moth, graceful and solemn. As it flapped, a kind of aurora-like energy emerged in the space, which infused into the blue patterns within the Mourning Robe Wings, bestowing the Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros with an incredibly brilliant power!
This brilliant power allowed Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros to slowly lift Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace into the air!
The sheer weight of Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace being lifted off the ground was unbelievable in itself.
Gradually, Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros twitched another limb and, with a Flying Sky Fist, sent Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace soaring into the sky!
Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace hovered in the air like a hovering range of volcanoes; massive, yet not clumsy, and even its fall back to the ground didn’t create an earthquake that was terrifying to humans.
Its limbs, comparable to the trunk of an Earth Dragon, was once part of the gecko family before it mutated. Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace, even after mutation, still maintained a tenacity and agility that seemed free from the constraints of home planet’s gravity.
It treated the undulating mountain ranges as its own shrubs, its gaze fierce as the blazing sun, fixed on Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros.
Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros waved its horned wings towards the mountain range, and the beautiful aurora-like energy instantly turned into a strange space blade, leaving terrifying wounds on the sky’s canvas, tearing huge fissures between heaven and earth, leveling everything in the mountains to the same height...
Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace was wounded, and a substantial amount of magma-like blood poured out, igniting furiously upon contact with the air.
The Earth Fire that resulted added an air of imposingness to Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace, and gradually its entire massive body was covered with blazing flames. As it moved, the sky and earth were filled with fiery breath, the temperature soared immensely, and its speed also increased dramatically, as if the more heat it generated, the stronger its power became!
Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros was sent flying towards the distant horizon by the Guardian Giant Claw, and more cracks appeared on its high-dimensional armor.
After briefly disappearing, Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros suddenly burrowed out from beneath the ground like a cold armor-piercing bullet and penetrated into the belly of Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace.
Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace’s belly was its weak spot, and under the absolute explosive force, it was directly pierced through.
Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros emerged from its back, then flapped its Mourning Robe Wings once more to generate the Aurora Wing Wave. The terrifying sweeping of the Aurora Wing Wave created destructive scrolls of light with each segment, blasting Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace’s spine to pieces!
With blood streaming and magma-like blood covering its body, Ksitigarbha Guardian Palace, now a tremendous fiery abyss, opened its massive jaws to swallow Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros.
Outside Lun Mountain City was now a world of scorched ashes. Along the twisted horizon, one could see a swiftly moving fire body and a dazzling aurora. People’s vision succumbed to the giant energy vortexes that were too large to comprehend; they couldn’t look away, nor dare they look directly, as their souls trembled uncontrollably, constantly being pressed flat by the fluctuations of the monstrous beings.
Wu Hen’s heart was similarly unsettled; even under the Nuwa Law, such earth-shattering destruction still took place—if it were in the outside world, it would’ve caused collapse of heaven and earth.
He was astonished by the power of Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros, which far surpassed tyrant tiger armor, and also amazed how Li Feng’s casually mentioned description had concealed such a powerful mutated creature. It was tamed as a Guardian for humanity, possessing the strength to contend with high-dimensional insect claws!
On his shoulder, the small Zodiac Rat, a seemingly insignificant body assembled from tiny gears and screws, housed a soul unwilling to extinguish so easily. Even while coexisting with AI as a mechanical rat, it used all of its life’s research on Guardians to protect everything here...
Unfortunately, most people still didn’t know her name, and could only refer to her as the Zodiac Rat.
This made Wu Hen wonder who else might reside in the other Twelve Zodiac Beasts, are they truly Mechanical Beasts?
"Creak creak~~~~~"
Up ahead, some high-dimensional being already let out a chilling sound, like grating teeth or a cold, mocking laugh.
The Jade Lady Mantis, Chu Zhi, fixed her eyes on the Zodiac Rat, as if she saw someone extremely vexing to her.
"You regard Li Feng as a belief, but hasn’t he turned you into these pitiable forms?" Chu Zhi said.
```

"Idiot." The Zodiac Rat also delivered to the opponent a profoundly insightful two-word verdict.

Wu Hen was convinced by the Zodiac Rat’s accurate and full articulation, seeing that the Rat’s previous character was also extremely irritable, always steadfastly believing that high-dimensional insects were utterly reprehensible!

Wu Hen had wanted to ask what exactly Li Feng had done to Chu Zhi to make her completely shed her proud disguise?

But as the words reached his mouth, Wu Hen stopped himself.

"You’re only fit to live in the gutters, your sole value is to be our test subjects, your pettiness, lowliness, greed, and ignorance granted by your genes are doomed to be irredeemable!" The aura emanating from Chu Zhi grew colder by the moment.

She once again stretched out her hand and pointed her finger at the Zodiac Rat on Wu Hen’s shoulder.

A bizarre light beam suddenly cut through the air, without any energy fluctuations, nor did it cause even a ripple in space. This surprised the ever-vigilant Wu Hen who quickly cradled the Zodiac Rat in his palm and shifted at high speed to the other side.

The cutting beam of light vanished abruptly, without slicing through anything.

However, Wu Hen broke into a cold sweat, feeling a cramp in his abdomen. Without time to ponder, he immediately executed the Barbaric Ancient Battle Steps, twisting his body towards another direction!

It was that same strange cutting light beam, and it even felt as if it was shooting right through his abdomen. This made Wu Hen activate all of his Spiritual Perception immediately!

The Jade Lady Mantis was gradually losing her patience. She didn’t need to take a single step forward; all she needed to do was to move her hand ever so slightly, as elegantly and effortlessly as a woman using her wine-soaked fingertips to tease ants stealing food from a dining table.

Wu Hen’s pores dilated as he maintained the highest alertness and breathing pattern. Not knowing where the cutting beam would come from or its trajectory, he could only rely on the hunter instincts he had learned in the Scroll Realm to dodge this unknown danger...

Under the Nuwa Law, Jade Lady Mantis’s ability had been slowed down quite a bit, but even so, Wu Hen still felt tremendous pressure. He didn’t know whether she could cast the cutting light beam even faster or in other forms. If he responded only with on-the-spot reactions, it would be very easy to die abruptly on the battlefield.

"Above!" The Zodiac Rat suddenly warned Wu Hen.

Wu Hen looked up and saw beams of cutting light woven together, forming a strange blanket of light falling down, with gaps just large enough to dice him into pet-sized morsels.

Wu Hen had no choice but to use Sound Flash to teleport, then infused Holy Power into his feet to achieve a burst of speed in an instant, escaping the area covered by the cutting light blanket.

But no matter how far Wu Hen moved, the light blanket expanded to a corresponding area, seeming like a demon-slaying kasaya, making escape pointless.

"Ksitigarbha!" commanded the Zodiac Rat.

At the same time, the Ksitigarbha Guardian spat out a burst of Earth Fire toward the bizarre light blanket. The Earth Fire collided with the light blanket just under a hundred meters above Wu Hen’s head, producing a red plasma.

"A hideous gecko!" Jade Lady Mantis said with a tone of disgust. From tens of kilometers away, she reached towards the huge Ksitigarbha Guardian, grasping it as if it were held by an invisible claw.

The Ksitigarbha Guardian suddenly became immobile as though grasped by an intangible giant claw.

"Kill it!" Jade Lady Mantis also issued a command to the Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros.

The Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros flapped its wings, its back alight with dazzling auroras. After absorbing enough mystical kinetic energy, it launched a Meteor Hammer Fist right at the head of the Ksitigarbha Guardian!

This force was bound to shatter the Ksitigarbha Guardian’s skull.

Wu Hen’s reaction was extremely quick as well. He caught the sound of the Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros’s wingbeats and flickered to its position, launching a Cangxia Fist directly! @@novelbin@@

The Cangxia Fist blasted the Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros back to the Ashen Plain. Seeing the cracks appearing in its chest armor and shoulder carapace, Wu Hen did not hesitate to leverage the Ksitigarbha Guardian’s head and summoned all the Thunder Transition Factors to form a giant axe.

Golden Tribulation Crossing Thunder coalesced, thunderous lightning traced the shape of the Divine Axe, and with Wu Hen’s arm swinging down, it ruthlessly struck toward the Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros.

The Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros was cleaved into the fissure in the ground, its armor broken all over the place. Instead of bones, the inside showed Liang Shou’s original body, like a person trapped inside a cocoon, both in pain and desiring boundless power...

Seeing Wu Hen make a move to execute the Mourning Robe Sky Rhinoceros, Jade Lady Mantis employed the mysterious light beam once again.

Even though Wu Hen was quite far from her, the light beam could still appear eerily close to him.

Wu Hen had no choice but to halt his attacking stance and focus entirely on dodging those light beam attacks.

"Ksitigarbha, entangle her," the Zodiac Rat also understood Wu Hen’s intention. Jade Lady Mantis was not easy to deal with, so they would first slash her minions.
