Otherworldly Desert Dust

Chapter 501 456 Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Sect

```
...
Stepping into the wasteland city, this once-modern metropolis has now fallen into disrepair and become the den of Aliens, Mutants, Sang Demons, and Worker Corpses.
The thick rotten air and industrial haze envelop the city, and when you catch a glimpse of those vague figures, it gives the illusion of a bustling city beneath towering skyscrapers. But upon closer inspection, you find that those in their suits and ties have mostly undergone Mutation, some like dried corpses, others covered in maggots, or with arms that have sprouted strange fangs and rigid tentacles.
On the city streets, you can occasionally see some vehicles still in motion.
Wu Hen stops at a bus station to observe when a double-decker bus happens to pull up.
"Hiss~"
The bus doors open, and in the driver's seat sits a woman whose head has been partially shorn off. Her neck is, however, tilted toward Wu Hen, as if beckoning him to get on board.
Wu Hen glances at her lower body and finds that it has fused with the bus seat, as if she is a half-human welded to the seat, the bus being her lower half.
Wu Hen wouldn't get on such a phantom bus even if hell froze over.
"I'll take a cab." Wu Hen waves his hand, indicating to the bus driver that she need not wait for him.
The bus driver actually closes the door and then slowly drives off, disappearing into the city's haze.
At the moment the door closes, Wu Hen glances at the bus's rearview mirror and sees heads suddenly popping up inside the bus. Their heads are also cut in half, leaving only their necks and mouths. Even without eyes, they seem reluctant and resentfully "watching" Wu Hen, as if to say, "You're lucky, boy, had you gotten on, we would have devoured you into scraps."
Wu Hen is speechless; the creatures here still follow their past behavior patterns. Office workers in uniforms take buses, workers patch up those abandoned buildings, and students in uniforms squirm about excitedly heading to their campus. Occasionally, you can even see a few police officers patrolling, with their arms welded to riot shields, while the other hand wields a baton…
Wu Hen also encounters a group of athletes running on the main road, all of them sporting four legs. Their subsidiary limbs make running look like they are on stilts, which is quite bizarre.
"These Alien Species more or less retain their state from before death. Sang Demons must be the batch with more noticeable Mutation. Who knows if they turned from these city elites. After all, in any field, internal competition and climbing up is always their credo," Wu Hen mutters to himself.
Thus, Wu Hen walks toward those skyscrapers riddled with holes, wanting to see if there are stronger Sang Demons within these tall and majestic lairs.
Turns out, this approach does yield some surprising results.
At the base of a building that looks like a commercial tower, Wu Hen sees a multitude of Alien Dogs. Their faces have sprouted incredibly sharp fangs, resembling a football helmet. Their torsos are unnaturally strong, perfect predatory Beasts, with their paws mutated into steel tips that could easily pierce through the floor!
"Such tight security measures. There must be a 'Big shot' in their office up there."
Wu Hen, following this line of thought, directly barges into the lobby of the commercial tower and then engages in a fierce battle with these Alien Dogs.
Relying on his infallible Air Elemental Mechanism, Wu Hen quickly cleans up the building's security dogs and neatly piles their bodies at the entrance as a tribute to the big BOSS upstairs.
At the elevator, Wu Hen presses the up button.
There are sixteen elevators on both sides, all of the double-door variety. In the days of prosperity, who knows how many people it transported daily.
"Ding Dong!"
Suddenly, all sixteen elevator doors open simultaneously. Wu Hen subconsciously expects all sorts of horrific Alien Mutants to rush out. However, the sixteen elevators seem to be awaiting Wu Hen's choice, silently opening their doors, inviting the intruder to pick a pleasing floor, which surely harbors even more ferocious beings.
Honestly, Wu Hen wants to take the elevator straight to the BOSS's room, but in the first run, it's best not to skip levels, because Yuan You might be missed on each rugged path within this towering building.
"Ding Dong~"
The elevator door rises to the twentieth floor, where a multitude of electronic screens are arranged neatly. The dust and sand blown in through the shabby windows have left this place sealed in dust. Peculiarly, there's a figure at every workstation. As Wu Hen steps into their "company," the white-collar workers' heads simultaneously tilt out. They are dressed properly, with upright attitudes, yet their bodies have decayed, and the hollow sockets where their eyes should be emit a demonic-like dim light. These lights shine into the area Wu Hen is in, as if wanting to dissolve this uninvited guest.
"I, Constantin, have come to deliver you from purgatory."
Wu Hen holds a gun in his right hand, firing first at a minor manager in the pantry. Then, his fingers flickered exaggeratedly, releasing a fan-shaped barrage of air bullets as the Elite Corps from the tower rush him!
The power of the air bullets isn't particularly extreme, but their firing speed is astonishing. Once a continuous chain of bullets forms, it's like a fierce drill bit, piercing through however many Corpse People there are stacked!
"Argh!!!!!!"
Suddenly, an obese corpse person with a fat head and big ears burst out from an independent office nearby. Its fat had swollen into thick tank-like armor. The suit it was wearing had been stretched open by its size, leaving only fragments of clothing caught in the folds of its fat.
This guy was tough-skinned and thick-fleshed; air bullets simply couldn't penetrate it, which caught Wu Hen by surprise. He hadn't expected an elite enemy to emerge suddenly while grinding minor monsters here. With the weapons he currently held, it would be difficult to deal with this elite corpse person.
Fortunately, Wu Hen had his movement technique.
He approached the glass curtain wall, and as the opponent charged at him, he leaped up and hooked his leg onto the crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
Following Wu Hen's script, this elite corpse should have been unable to stop itself, crashing through the glass curtain wall and falling from the high-rise, slamming to its death. However, Wu Hen underestimated this elite corpse person, with a higher degree of mutation, as it actually stopped at the curtain wall and then scooped Wu Hen down from the chandelier with both hands!
"Roar!!!!"
Like an obese version of the Invincible Hulk, the elite corpse person roared angrily, "You think you're slick, huh?" Then it hurled Wu Hen straight onto the street from a height of twenty floors!
Wu Hen and a piece of shattered glass curtain wall fell onto the main street together. Just as he slammed onto the ground, that damn bus driver who didn't watch her path rolled right over him. The whole bus almost leaped off the road, but she managed to weave the bus back by showing off her driving skills that made her and the vehicle one. Like bowling a perfect strike, she ran over the group jogging on the highway...
...
After a long while, Wu Hen crawled out from the dented pavement.
His clothes were tattered, and his face covered in dirt and ash. Being an otherworldly master who could slay gods above and swim among foul hounds below, he too had stumbled.
Lifting his head, Wu Hen saw that elite corpse person standing on the edge of the floor, roaring and showing off at him who was still alive, which triggered Wu Hen's darn competitive nature. High-dimensional pursuits, searching for origins, melding into Desert Dust, all were tossed to the back of his mind. Today, he was determined to blast that arrogant elite corpse to smithereens!
"This air gun won't cut it!" Wu Hen said through gritted teeth.
"You're not thinking of unsheathing your sword, are you??" Bai Ze, seeing Wu Hen flush with anger, seriously doubted whether this guy was about to disregard all martial ethics.
Wu Hen fell silent.
"Come on, what's with the temper? For such a low-tier elite monster, if you draw your sword now, you could vaporize this entire wasteland. Weren't we agreed to integrate into this context? Equipment's supposed to be scavenged... If you activate your Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Sect powers now, how will you keep tracking Cangling?" Bai Ze said.
"I'll just call forth Little Bronze. A tiny bit doesn't count," Wu Hen replied, reasoning that a small move wasn't really a breach.
"It can level this wasteland too! You get serious about gathering higher-tier equipment. My olfactory sense is keen, and there's a security vault on the tenth floor of this building with a Frost Elemental Weapon in a safe. You take it and use it first," Bai Ze said.
Once in this land, Wu Hen's sense of smell was completely gone, the air was filled with oil odors and rotten air, and with his Sealing adding further complications, Wu Hen was indeed short of one Perception sense, making exploration quite difficult.
"You're finally of some use. Kicking off with a Bai Ze, you can't just grumble non-stop!" Wu Hen's face barely broke into a smile.
"I'll tell you where the good equipment is, but how to get it is up to you. I warn you again, I've made such a great sacrifice, you can't give up halfway!" Bai Ze declared.
Wu Hen's smile grew even brighter. With Bai Ze's sense of smell, he wouldn't be noticed by stronger Predators. Wu Hen was taking advantage of just a tiny bit of convenience within the rules.
After straightening up his clothes, Wu Hen glanced at the bloated elite corpse up high.
Wait!
Once I get hold of better gear, I'll ensure all of you are dispatched!
...
Upon reaching the tenth floor, Wu Hen discovered that this entire floor was filled with security corpse people.
Luckily, his air gun could penetrate their bodies. With patience, he could wipe them all out.
After spending some time, Wu Hen had annihilated the Security Team of this floor and got into the vault.
"Yeehaw, a Pure Yuan You!"
Wu Hen's smile grew even more splendid; such an unexpected delight. He hadn't anticipated finding a Pure Yuan You sealed in the vault, which could be just what he needed to enhance his Perception.
Pure Yuan You often emerged in low-dimensional environments. It was essentially the unyielding spirit of the dead ephemeral life from otherworldly realms condensed into form. Lately, Wu Hen had been trying to break through to Fifth-Rank Hearing, and naturally, he needed a lot of Pure Yuan You...
