Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Lucky Star Farmland Keeps Calm, Heirless Husband Busy Chasing Wife 41

Fu Huaichu seemed not to expect that Su Zhiruan still remembered this, but he agreed, “I’ll take you there.”

The two of them stood up, one following the other out of the pavilion.

It was still early at this time. Though it was winter, the sun hung in the sky, dazzlingly white. Su Zhiruan wrapped herself tightly in the large cloak. Compared to her, Fu Huaichu wore considerably less, only a long robe, with the bones of his wrists exposed, blue veins bulging beautifully. Years of martial arts and handling officialdom with a pen had left thin, beautiful calluses on his hands.

His long hair was tied up with just a band, without using a hairpin, unlike his usual self who strictly adhered to the rules as the distinguished Crown Prince. At this moment, Fu Huaichu seemed somewhat ethereal.

Su Zhiruan focused herself, following him towards the back courtyard.

Before reaching the courtyard, Su Zhiruan could already see the rising steam. In the courtyard lay a crescent-shaped warm spring, which looked like a scene straight out of the Immortal Realm.

The place wasn’t big but was cleaned and arranged neatly. Stepping in, one could feel an all-encompassing warmth.

“Would you like to come in and try the temperature?” Fu Huaichu walked over. Through the mist, she could not see Fu Huaichu’s face clearly but could see his extended hand, “Perhaps you can also come in and relax, the hot spring doesn’t take long, about a quarter of an hour would do.”

“Okay,” Su Zhiruan took off her outerwear, walked up to Fu Huaichu, and sat down beside him. Suddenly, she noticed a pot next to her hand and asked, “What is this?”

“A wine pot, we can have a few drinks.” Fu Huaichu calmly took the pot and poured her a full cup of wine, “Care to try? This one is different from the wine before, it’s stronger, from the Western Regions.”

Su Zhiruan lifted the cup and drank it all in one gulp. At first, it was just stronger than the previous wine, but after a cup went down, she suddenly felt a fiery sting in her throat, as if it could numb the spirit and plunge one into a dreamlike state.

After pouring her a cup, Fu Huaichu went down to check the water temperature.

Unexpectedly, when he turned back, he saw that Su Zhiruan had already drunkenly collapsed to one side. Her dress was on her body, with half of its hem floating in the water, and more than half of her calves submerged.

Snow-white, slender, delicate.

He had seen her completely like this three years ago.

Thinking this, Fu Huaichu’s eyes darkened. His voice was husky, “Ruanruan, wake up.”

The woman was deep in sleep, her arm under her head, half of her neatly done hair now scattered and falling into the warm spring, soft and fragrant, as if she had entered a dream from which she would never awake.

“I’ll dry your hair, then take you back to the bed to sleep,” Fu Huaichu said upon seeing her wet hair, thinking of using a towel to dry her hair before going to sleep.

Just as he wiped her hair, Su Zhiruan suddenly woke up with blurred drunken eyes, covered her hair, and looked hazily towards Fu Huaichu. Seeing him, who appeared as a familiar person after a moment, she collapsed again, still mumbling, “You…”

“Ruanruan, you trust me, believe in me, right?” Fu Huaichu, seeing her like this, felt much better. She was sober at first, but one drink followed another, until she eventually drank herself into a stupor. Based on Fu Huaichu’s understanding of her, if this were a place she did not recognize or even trust, she would never have done as she did.

This thought made his spirits rise.

After drying Su Zhiruan’s hair, Fu Huaichu then carried her back to his bedroom, removed her wet clothes, dressed her in clean clothes, and let her lie down to sleep in his bed, soon lying down beside her.

Su Zhiruan twitched her eyelids, and the next second, her hand reached straight into Fu Huaichu’s bedcovers.

The bed was not big, and after the curtain fell, it could barely accommodate two people. Her action was so sudden that Fu Huaichu had no chance to dodge, and was immediately grabbed by her at his most delicate spot.

At that moment, Fu Huaichu distinctly felt his breathing becoming rapid.

Could a drunken person… be like this now?

But as soon as this thought crossed his mind, the next second, Su Zhiruan pinched it.

She slept peacefully, but her unconscious hand movements were far from honest.

At one moment, she applied some pressure, and then she gently released her grip, engrossing Huaichu’s attention with her delicate hands.

Under her subtle fidgeting, Huaichu tensed up; he tried to curl himself up and wished Su Zhiruan would quickly retract her hand, but none of it seemed to help.

He simply couldn’t bear to let her go, yet his feelings were incredibly complicated at that moment.

When she felt her palm throb several times and her hand could no longer encircle it, Su Zhiruan decisively pulled back her hand, nestled securely in the blanket, and ceased to stir.

Huaichu clenched his teeth and helplessly watched her calm sleeping face.

She really was heartless.

At a crucial moment, Su Zhiruan decisively withdrew her hand, deepening his suspicion about whether she was genuinely asleep or only feigning it.

Huaichu sighed deeply and, after observing that she remained perfectly still, he got out of bed, scooped up her discarded clothes, and walked into the adjacent study.

After a quarter of an hour, he finished everything, washed his hands, and cleaned Su Zhiruan’s outer garment, then hung it back on the clothes rack.

Initially, he had thought he had entirely overcome earthly desires, but from what he now realized, he just hadn’t met the person he wanted yet.

Huaichu lay back into bed. By now, Su Zhiruan had fully entered dreamland; even her breathing had become prolonged and faint. Wrapped in the blanket, her snow-white face looked exquisitely beautiful and innocently harmless, showing none of the mischief from before.

Even though Huaichu very much wanted to take her then, seeing that she had deeply fallen asleep, he lowered his gaze, thinking that sooner or later he would marry her.

And when the time came, he would make sure she wouldn’t leave the bed for ten days to half a month!

Huaichu pinched her cheek gently, and she did not wake up.

He then boldly planted a light kiss on her lips; she still did not wake up.

“Heartless little creature,” Huaichu whispered softly, then lay back into bed, listening to the faint breathing beside him, a feeling of contentment emerging at that moment.

It would be wonderful if every day could be like today.

He didn’t ask for much, having none before he met her and desiring only Su Zhiruan after.

These things, Su Zhiruan did not know.

Waking up again and seeing the scene before her, Su Zhiruan rubbed her eyes, feeling slightly overwhelmed.

She… was wearing Huaichu’s clothes, lying in Huaichu’s bed…

And beside her, the soon-to-wake Huaichu—
