Passerby Villain In A Wizard World

Chapter 200 Who Is Coward Now?

As soon as Carl shouted the spell's name, Ian saw the surrounding darkness ripple ever so slightly as if something unseen had slipped into its depths.

Then, the top of the hall suddenly lit up with countless tiny, twinkling stars, densely packed and all pointing straight at him.

'So, this is the first spell he learned?'

Ian thought while looking at the countless meteors in the air, twinkling like stars. If not for the fact that it was an attack aimed at killing him, it would have been a beautiful sight.

'The Star type Meditation Method is indeed unique.'

Ian knew that Carl practiced the Starry Sky Meditation Method, and this spell was likely related to it.

That's why, even though Carl was only an initial First-Ring wizard, Ian felt the power of this spell was as strong as Ron's and Ethos's.

"Fire! Heh... Let's see how you can stop it."

Maybe because Carl felt insulted that Ian was simply admiring his spell instead of readying his defense, he shouted loudly with cold eyes, directing every condensed meteor to fire directly at Ian's location.

"Swosshh!"

"Boom!"

Just like the spell's name, the meteors Carl fired at Ian were tiny and looked like dripping rain, but the intensity at which they were fired was anything but that.

If you had to use an analogy, their speed was faster than a bullet, and their impact was greater than a grenade—perfect for sniping anyone within range into oblivion.

"Yes! Haha... A fool who can't even defend."

Carl mumbled in slight joy as he saw the entire area where Ian stood being bombarded by meteors, the loud explosions shaking the entire hall.

With such a heavy strike, the top deck of the ship was as good as broken. But Carl didn't care as he saw Ian still standing in place, watching his spell before the meteors blasted him.

He didn't believe Ian could remain unscathed after enduring such an attack even if he had some plans.

"Even if it doesn't kill him, it should injure him gravely," Carl thought while lowering his staff when a sudden loud voice from Ruther snapped him out of his focus.

"Carl, MOVE!"

The voice was sudden, piercingly loud, and clear in Carl's mind.

So, without even thinking, he instinctively moved his body to the side when a shrieking glitter of silver light sliced through the air, grazing his cheek and sending a streak of blood splattering across the floor.

"Fuck!"

The attack was so strong and instantaneous that Carl once again realized what it meant to graze death, causing him to curse loudly.

Without waiting in the same position, he immediately used his Knight Movement technique to retreat while also readying a movement-type spell.

However, Ruther didn't seem to want him to fight anymore, as he immediately ordered him loudly once again, sounding more anxious than Carl himself.

"USE Traveler's Charm, fast!"

"What?"

Carl was still in battle mode, trying to understand how that streak of light had suddenly appeared and managed to injure him yet again when he heard Ruther's order, causing him to stall slightly in his path.

After all, there had never been a situation where he had to run from the battlefield.

"See? You really are like a cockroach!"

But what greeted him wasn't the reply from Ruther as he expected but the cold voice from behind, followed by another shot aimed at his heart, fully intending to take his life.

"Soul Barrier!"

"Flashstep!"

Although Carl was once again caught off guard, as his movement-type spell seemed a little too late, Ruther wasn't.

He instead instantly used his soul power to form a shimmering milky barrier around Carl's back, stopping the invisible blade in its tracks before Carl's figure disappeared into the distance.

"Ahh..."

But suddenly, as if something had happened, Ruther cried out loudly in pain, his piercing voice echoing even outside.

His scream, raw and desperate, tore through the silence, echoing off the walls and resonating far beyond the confines of the hall.

However, despite being seemingly injured, Ruther still managed to save Carl with his uncanny instantaneous soul barrier.

"What... Old man, are you alright?"

Everything had happened so fast that Carl finally realized the extreme danger he was in after hearing Ruther's loud cry.

Although it seemed like he had been too negligent in this fight, he couldn't be blamed.

Everything had happened so quickly and strangely that before Carl could even process his shock, he had already been attacked fatally—twice.

And more importantly, he never thought someone could even injure Ruther in his soul form.

How could his heart remain steady after this?

He was already panicking like never before.

"USE Traveler's Charm! Don't ask! I can't hold on much longer! Fast!"

Ruther suppressed his pain with clear urgency and ordered Carl once again as if he was more afraid of something else than the invisible attack from Ian.

"Okay!"

Carl was already panicked and didn't care about his pride anymore. If someone could injure even Ruther, his golden finger, he didn't know what would happen to him.

So, he didn't care whether the Traveler's Charm Ruther talked about was an extremely rare one-time teleportation charm, he didn't care whether running from the battle would put a dent in his ego, he just took out the old and worn-down iron medal from his ring and activated it instantly with his mental power.

'Fortunately, I kept all the important stuff in the soul ring.'

Carl thought while paying attention to his surroundings. Although he had traveled far in the hall with his last movement-type spell, he was still alert, as that inexplicable attack might catch him off guard again.

He didn't want to risk it at this last moment.

Fortunately, the Traveler's Charm in his hand was a powerful relic meant for escaping. So, as soon as Carl used it, it immediately emitted a brilliant glow, surrounding his entire figure.

"Tch... look at you. Aren't you a despicable coward? Running away from the fight."

And just when Carl was about to be teleported to an unknown location, he heard a slightly mocking voice from the front, followed by Ian's figure.

It seemed that within a few minutes, what he had said to Ian was returned to him intact.

But Carl didn't care, as he finally felt relieved after seeing himself being teleported safely from this place, although bruised, injured, and embarrassed.

At least his life was saved—for now.
