Chapter 252: A Sudden Guest
"Damn, that elemental almost discovered me."
Inside the black tower at the center of the hanging garden, a tall, slender girl with straight black hair down to her waist complained while climbing the spiral staircase.
Her voice sounded sweet, and her figure in a long blue gown looked like a moving painting, each step quiet and graceful against the stone.
"Fortunately, I have Tide Stone and the Key with me. Otherwise, fighting that Warden will likely alert those guys."
She said while caressing a glowing blue stone in her arms that had dimmed a little now.
As for the key, it was an ancient relic she found on her travels that allowed her to access any place through teleportation.
It was a rare rank consumable treasure that could be used three times to teleport anywhere, anytime.
If not for her situation, she never would have used it here to access such a low-level place.
But she didn't have a choice.
After musing for a while and finding that she was already at the top of the stairs, she focused her attention on the top floor that was within her reach.
"Hope that information is correct. There was nothing on the first floor, and if there's none on this floor too... I don't know what to do."
She bit her lips, a little anxious.
"The poison is already unbearable. Damn, those bastard Krakens."
She cursed, remembering the poison in her body. If one looked closely, they could see her fair skin tinged with a faint red hue, as if marked by the slow spread of something toxic.
However, it seemed her luck was good this time, as her face immediately lit up in a beautiful smile as soon as she entered the floor.
"An Alchemy Lab!"
She mumbled unconsciously while quickly walking toward the side where she saw rows upon rows of shelves with scrolls, rare herbs, and glowing crystals.
"So, what the map said was indeed true. Does that mean I can find the cure for my poison here?"
She was so excited that she didn't even notice another person's existence inside the same room.
Or maybe it was because that person was almost as good as dead?
"Hmm?"
However, it didn't take long for her to notice something strange with her acute mental power as a First Ring Wizard.
"Scent of a potion?"
It was so faint that it couldn't be smelled with normal means. But for her mental power, everything was clear.
So, as soon as she felt something amiss, she immediately became alert, taking out a staff from her ring, ready to fight.
She had been too excited just now and didn't notice anything before. But now she was sure that there was someone inside this place.
"Who is it?"
She shouted in a cold voice, looking ahead, only to see a body lying limply at the center of the chamber.
"A dead body?"
As soon as she gazed at the body, she understood it was devoid of a soul.
"Sea Shield!"
Still, she didn't dare lower her guard.
Instead, she quickly cast her strongest spell, enveloping her entire figure in a shimmering bubble of blue water, like a protective wave.
Only when she felt safe, did she slowly walk towards the center, appearing near Ian's lifeless body that almost looked like he was sleeping soundly, if not for the absence of the soul she immediately detected.
"It seems he died recently. There is no presence of his soul in his body at all. How weird... what is he doing here?"
Seeing Ian's handsome figure perfectly intact, lying limply in front of her, she was in doubt.
After all, she never thought that there was another person who could access this place this fast and silently.
Moreover, he seemed to arrive here way earlier, concocted the potion, and even managed to kill himself.
"How absurd..."
She almost laughed, thinking of such a series of events in her mind.
This was the epitome of unluckiness in her opinion.
"Poor guy... such a handsome person died here just like this alone. What a pity."
She mumbled and shook her head in distress while placing the lower tip of her staff on Ian's cheek, as if admiring the goods.
"Swish!"
However, just as she was about to withdraw her staff, she suddenly saw the closed eyes of the body in front snap open, while the green vertical pupils behind them looked directly at her.
"Kya..."
The incident was so sudden that she couldn't help but scream in shock and quickly distanced herself.
The abrupt change caught her completely off guard.
However, feeling that she was in danger, she hurriedly controlled her surprise and began to cast an attack spell, ready to fire.
'Damn, it might be an Undead or maybe a Hollowborn. I was careless.'
She thought bitterly and was about to fire her almost ready spell, only to see that the platform ahead was now empty.
There was no dead body lying on the ground anymore. It almost felt like what she just saw was an illusion.
"Where is he?"
The experience now was getting so bizarre that her heart was practically beating aloud, audible from the outside.
"Are you looking for me?"
However, to her surprise, she suddenly heard the voice from behind, next to her ear, followed by the appearance of the dead body she had seen earlier.
Well, it couldn't be called dead now.
"Crestfall!"
However, this time she managed to control herself while completing her chant even when she was surprised.
"Swoosh!"
Suddenly, a huge amount of mana emerged from her and resonated with the chamber, while a massive vortex of blue water appeared above Ian's head with a menacing aura, ready to drop down.
However, before it could, though, Ian suddenly snapped his hand outward, swatting the blue wave lightly.
"Let's not destroy this place. I still need the items here."
He mumbled a little low, as if afraid that these waves would destroy the items in this chamber.
Then, to the girl's astonishment, the colossal vortex of water really stopped suddenly, out of her control, and immediately spiraled toward Ian, disappearing in pieces until nothing remained.
"What...."
This was the third time she was surprised today, and that too back to back.
Even with her high level of mental power, she couldn't stop herself from getting caught off guard like this.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"
However, Ian didn't care about her surprise. Instead, he asked in a cold voice while looking at the girl in front of him.
Long black hair, a flowing blue gown, and a tall figure—he saw nothing different, except that she was a little beautiful.
'But her eyes...'
Ian suddenly looked solemn after seeing the eyes of the girl in front. Because he clearly remembered who had those exact eyes in the novel.
"Umm... S-Sir Wizard, I-I'm sorry.... I didn't know you were here practicing."
After seeing Ian's power that could directly engulf her First Ring Spell, the girl in front became completely flustered.
Then, as if feeling guilty, she suddenly lowered her head and apologized sincerely.
"I was just startled and attacked you out of reflex. Please, don't take it to heart. I will immediately leave this place, don't worry."
She said, a little anxious. Now, she felt like a fool thinking that she was lucky to arrive at this place before anyone else.
'I shouldn't have come here. Damn, my luck.'
She cursed inwardly while waiting for a reply or perhaps a verdict.
Since Ian was still easy-going and hadn't attacked her yet, she thought maybe she could be forgiven.
Otherwise, she would have already used her life-saving method, since she didn't know how powerful this guy was.
However, just when she lowered her head a bit, something stopped her head from moving.
No, it didn't just stop, but pulled her head up, facing forward toward the handsome figure that had suddenly appeared near her face inexplicably.
Only now did she realize that the guy in front was using his finger to lift her chin. Weirdly, his finger could easily bypass her protective spell.
Then, she saw him look deeply into her eyes as if admiring her.
"S-Sir Wizard, what are you doing?"
The situation was getting so absurd that the girl stammered a little while questioning Ian.
'Isn't this guy too frivolous?'
She thought, feeling a little angry.
Unfortunately, she knew she couldn't attack him again as her life was already in danger.
"Hmm.... your eyes are beautiful."
Ian didn't care about her question or about her angry look, but simply commented after looking at those eyes.
'Amber-blue irises with a deep black pupil in the middle. Just like described in the Arcane Passage. But... why does she look like this? Is she using some disguise technique?'
Ian thought with confusion.
"Sir, I am sorry if I have disturbed your rest. But... can I leave now?"
While Ian was musing over things, he heard a cold voice from the girl in front that seemed to come from the Abyss.
After hearing his frivolous remark, it seemed she was angered, as Ian even saw her taking out some kind of item from her mana ring.
Ready to fight.
"Haha... girl, no need to get so defensive. Although your eyes are indeed beautiful, you are a little too lacking in other parts. So, I have no interest in you."
Ian laughed while removing his hand, distancing himself from the girl.
Although he was confused about why this girl had suddenly appeared here, he reined in his thoughts and asked again.
"So, can you tell me who you are now? Or do you really want to fight with me?"
Ian said while signaling at her hidden hands with his eyes in a carefree voice.
Seeing the smiling guy in front, who seemed to take her too lightly, the girl hesitated for a while and finally relaxed a little.
She couldn't afford to attack this guy again.
Although she was sure that she could leave this place if she used her trump card, she didn't want to use that if possible.
So, feeling that it was better to be honest, she relaxed her figure, canceled her spell that was useless, and replied.
"Sir Wizard, I am Morgana, a First Ring Wizard from Harmonia."
What do you think?
