Chapter 1139: Chapter 1136: Viewing the Plum Blossoms
Prepare the most convenient meal to take on the road, but it should still be hot.
An hour later.
Ye Muyu, dressed in a cloak, boarded the carriage first, followed by Chu Heng who did not ride a horse and entered the carriage as well.
Inside the carriage, Ye Muyu sat with a handwarmer on her lap, her cloak taken off and carelessly pressed against her back.
Chu Heng glanced at it, reached out to take the cloak, and with his slender fingers, he folded it neatly and placed it in the carriage’s secret compartment.
Ye Muyu looked at him and smiled, leaning lazily against the carriage while holding a book. The books she read were various, covering all trades and professions.
“Ah Heng, the Emperor gave his permission for me to open a workshop in the capital to provide a large supply of creams. Do you have any location suggestions?” Ye Muyu casually broached the topic.
Chu Heng: “Since the Emperor has agreed, he will likely have arrangements, so you just need to focus on production. You don’t need to worry about other things. Secret guards will be there to protect the workshop.”
“Is this like, deliberately placing a cake to lure someone into a trap?” Ye Muyu’s lips curved, and she couldn’t help but join in the laughter.
“Hmm.”
Ye Muyu made a sound of acknowledgment and dropped the matter. After all, the workshop had become a place to test the subjects. She just needed to research new and suitable creams. Whether or not someone infiltrated the place was of little concern to her.
The two chatted leisurely on their journey and soon arrived at the foot of the mountain.
After several days of snow, the mountains were already clad in a silver blanket.
Chu Heng disembarked first, already wearing leather boots. Ye Muyu followed, still holding her hand warmer, as Chu Heng extended his hand to wrap around her waist and began climbing the mountain with her.
Being strong and robust, Chu Heng took large strides but subtly slowed his pace for her.
“Ah Heng, have you been here before?” Ye Muyu tried to keep pace with Chu Heng as quickly as she could. As they ascended together, they enjoyed the surrounding scenery. Although most of the trees were bare and covered in snow, it was still a novelty to Ye Muyu, who had lived for so long in Jiangnan. She stepped on the snow, and it crunched underfoot.
Seeing her playful side emerge, Chu Heng couldn’t help but smile, “The snow is deep. It’s safer to walk on the stone paths. The snow beside the path could hide deep pits, and you could end up with soaked boots.”
Ye Muyu mischievously stepped on the snow twice more, her hand held by his no longer feeling the cold. She pouted in response to his words, “Don’t I have you, Ah Heng, to help me?”
Chu Heng raised an eyebrow, “It seems you’re only this willful because I’m here.”
“Of course not.” Ye Muyu shook the snow off her feet and stepped onto the stone stairway, pulling Chu Heng forward, “Come on, let’s go up to see the plum blossoms.”
Upon reaching the middle of the mountainside, they noticed many ladies and young misses getting out of their sedan chairs.
“So everyone else gets out of their sedan chairs halfway up the mountain to climb?” Ye Muyu looked towards the summit, feeling she had made a misstep. “Why didn’t we just drive the carriage up here?”
“I thought you’d prefer to climb the mountain with me.” There was a hint of pleasure in Chu Heng’s voice. His dark eyes fixed on her face, causing Ye Muyu to feel a warmth from his gaze. She reached out to pull her hand away, but he kept his grip firm, and she couldn’t break free.
“There will be more people from now on, it’s not good to be seen like this.” Her cheeks flushed with a rosy tint as she tried to reason with him.
Chu Heng’s lips curled, and instead of releasing her hand, he placed his other hand around her waist.
This intimate gesture attracted the gazes of the coachman and others.
What do you think?
