Inside a classroom at the orphanage.
Two foreign women stood separately by the front and back doors.
The children placed their hands neatly on the desks, their eyes calmly focused on the young lady at the podium.
With her enchanting figure, she held a piece of chalk and wrote two characters on the blackboard.
Guo Man!
“Children, do you know how to read these two characters?”
“Guo Nu!”
A girl, about eight years old, timidly said.
“Guo Nu!”
With her prompting, the other children began to follow along.
“Xiaoqing, that character isn’t pronounced ‘Nu.’ It has the ‘Man’ character next to it, so it’s read as Guo Man.”
Song Dan corrected Xiaoqing’s mistake with a gentle smile.
“I got it, Teacher Song. It’s Guo Man!”
“Sister Guo Man!”
And so, the children began calling out in their childish voices.
“Alright, see what I’ve brought for you today!”
