Chapter 433 The Star Gazer
"Absolute fool you are, Erestel!" Sari's fine garments were sent fluttering wildly as the hand fell right down, bowing air and dirt into every direction, at least, he had not actually done what she had first imagined, it would have been rather unsightly to release it against an opponent he was not actually losing to.
The silver knight was facing more enemies than the grasping knight, but they were also weaker than Aramap, not to say that they were not problematic, the warking's guard were all experienced, rugged combatants who had probably seen more war than peace in their lifetime, although she may outclass them in might, even one of them would find the way to be a nuisance to deal with, so a dozen working together was akin to hitting a fly out of the air by spitting on it while blindfolded.
Dealing with crowds was rather simple for Sari normally, but she did not wish to hit her fellow undeads that were fighting all around, kindly allowing their lieutenants to engage the stronger forces, whilst their lieutenants prevented the stronger livings from engaging with the soldiers.
And her abilities harmless to undeads, had proven not very effective on the knights so far, thanks to her superior height and two weapons, she could keep them all at bay with relative ease at least.
'I can't just keep them busy…' however, Sari felt like she had big shoes to fit, not only was she a lieutenant of the vanguard, and had received Loimos's blessing through his awarding of the title of champion to her, but the moon-lit knight was also a practitioner of a special sorcery created by Loimos, just acting as a distraction felt like insulting all of this.
Thinking this, she circulated power through the sword held in her right hand, dark red flames engulfing it in a moment, whilst the other blade was engulfed with melting, pale silver, much different from the bright silver she wore.
The liquid silver quickly disappeared, seemingly soaked up within the sword, which Sari pointed downward, causing the weapons of surrounding livings to be pulled down as well, as though weighing quadruple times more out of the blue, this only affected their spears however, sidearms and armour where left untouched, prompting many to quickly give up, the one that was slowest to do so was met with the blood red radiance of Sari's blade.
With a single swing, unleashing this fire into a small pillar, singeing the royal knight through his gear, but not inflicting nearly as much damage as expected, but the adverse reaction to flames left him open, collecting power for her next strike, Sari hit the knight where the armour was thinnest, piercing his defence just enough for a small drop of blood to trickle out, this was enough for the flame, like catching onto oil, it grew in intensity and followed the liquid in, scorching the living from the inside, consuming all blood as it did so.
'That's one' she thought, the other knight already attacking, not distracted by their comrade's fate. Stay connected through My Virtual Library Empire
The silver knightess went fully on the offensive, her blades and body becoming brilliant with various shines of ill-omen, pale silver, blood red, pale green, dark blue for the most part.
Sari was one of the very first to take a keen interest into astrology, a particular branch of Loimos's sorceries that made use of the dark undead sky as its main source of power, she was the most accomplished in this regard by far, commanding powers from the four vampiric moons, two ethereal constellations and also the hollow star, only the sun of darkness was missing from her mastery.
Of course, many other such celestial bodies had come into being, but none were greater than those representing the influence of the king and gravelords, as such, she had access to a rather diverse set of abilities that left the royal knights little choice but to keep on attacking, much too worried about what she could pull up if left some space and time.
However, Sari was not going to do anything but channel powers through her blade in this quantity, otherwise, she would definitely turn some poor rank and file into puddles or disperse their bodies into every directions, this was mostly why she admonished Erestel, summoning a giant hand was better than the alternative, but still liable to hit beyond his intended target.
Bringing both swords together, she manifested the brightness of Vwoldtnir's hollow star, this had the advantage of being absolutely harmless to undeads, blinding the knights as she focused on calling upon Nosferatu's moon, the strongest gravelord's moon was in turn also the most powerful, too powerful Sari often felt like, containing it to achieve what she wanted to was often more difficult than making a full-powered attack with another.
Nosferatu's foetid blood could melt anything, even in the form of mist, so Sari toned it down and made it so the blood would not remain for too long, only hitting the knights for a brief instant, just enough for them to unknowingly inhale some of this vampiric goodness.
Such strong-bodied folks, they could certainly handle being turned into vampires by his blood, the knightess glanced in direction of Erestel, who had decided to heighten up the pressure by calling upon the hands he had subjugated, unlike Multaemanus, his repertoire of those limbs was a very limited, especially since he had not had many occasions to gather some, most of his hands were graciously given by Loimos and the spectre lord.
So he treasured them, and thus, did not use those as well as he could, since he could not restore them as easily either.
But still, now that he had gotten smacked right in the head, he was being more careful, Sari wouldn't say that Erestel was dominating, Aramap was too ferocious of a foe for that, but he was not being pushed back either.
Instead, her attention was diverted to the confrontation between Ourlst and Alisart Cleavster.
'That guy…' and also, Frenand was here apparently, duelling the warking.
All seemed to be going well, Sari did not notice any of the knights being unaffected from taking a whiff of foetid blood.
Narrowly diverting a flying sword, one of them had been pretending exceptionally well, taking hold of the sword used by the knight that had been burned from within, and launching it with remarkable accuracy, had that not been stopped, the undead would have probably had a cut left right in one of her eyes.
Although thin, the slits of her helm were still a weak point.
'This one… Always seemed like a tougher nut to crack…' she remarked to herself, assuming a combat stance, both blades charging up with moonlight sourced from the many moons subjugated during the vanguard's approach, as well as from a certain mountain peak on the mainland.
They did not hold as much power as the ones associated with gravelords, but were most definitely easier to wield, on top of allowing usage of more simple attacks.
"You rotten sow! Stop with your spell casting and face me!"
"Now, such provocations won't yield any result…"
"Coward! Just like your general!"
"..."
"Alright then… I'll make sure you meet death with open arms…"
What do you think?
