Chapter 581: Operation Might Over All : Part Seven
"By death's most divine grace, is that him?" standing near the edge of a tall cliff, the bottom so far away that fog obstructed direct vision, Herlbe and his soldiers, accompanied by Hartracite, had their feet firmly set upon the feeble white grass, looking over an immense ocean that did not seem that different from the regular one's outside the realm, only that the water seemed incredibly deep and dark everywhere, even right up against the shores.
Expanding their darkness awareness as far as they could, the undeads couldn't even reach the bottom anywhere, all that they realised was that even the surface was so pressurised that the regular undead would have their body shredded from just stepping in and it only got worse the deeper on went.
There had been a few oceans with strong pressure right at the surface back in the main world, but nothing close to the sheer oppressiveness that was to be found here, Herlbe had already gotten a taste of it thanks to the tsarina, but being enclosed in a small volume was much different from actually being in the depth, getting away whilst truly flanked from every side across kilometers was a different story altogether, even he would struggle to move around efficiently.
"It is simply enormous, gargantuan!" one of the soldiers exclaimed, everyone was looking a mass parting the water with its every movements, blue whales were absolute dwarves next to it, and so were the monster of the depth they had come to know about, that sort of size was simply unreasonable and was most certainly the result of gigantism across the entire fauna of this ocean, which was referred to as 'okean' here.
"Is this him?" calmly asked Herlbe, he had made himself sound confident, but fighting in a marine environment was putting him at a great disadvantage to begin with, and something that was considered the ruler of this mass of water was bound to be a bit more complicated to deal with than a regular big fish.
The minor lord could sense the life force of countless beings that did far more than just rival the size of what he had once deemed ridiculously big, so he would rather not get the target wrong.
Meanwhile, the tsarina wasn't even looking this way and was instead scratching the rabid-ridden werewolves ears, that fool even wagging his tail in appreciation, seeing his best man so easily tamed was certainly a sight to behold.
"Excuse me, but would you kindly cut the crap?"
"What? Is it forbidden to pet the doggy?"
"He is a soldier"
"And?"
"He is a grown undead man who viciously slaughters the empire's enemies, right?" Herlbe asked his soldier, who just looked around confusedly.
"Of course, My Lord!"
"Anyways… Hartracite, is that the tsar or not?" at last, she actually turned her attention to the immense creature and just gave a sideways glance at Herlbe.
"That little thing? It's his youngest daughter, not even a quarter as large as him, Pangea'Kalst is much further away from the shores" she casually stated, continuing to pet the werewolf "Once you spot him, you'll just know it's the right guy"
On this note, she manifested a platform of bleached stone and stepped up on it, beckoning everyone to do the same, soon floating high up in the air, one good thing about this seemingly boundless ocean of pure horror and titanic rate of mortality was that the skies were pretty empty, no hyper-sized birds to prey on the oceanic creatures were to be seen, only regular-sized ones that would land on the backs of some of them to search for parasites and the likes.
The further in they went, the worse it got down below, the record for largest being constantly being toppled by giant sharks, great squids, turtles and other monstrosities.
So much so that they did not expect themselves to be surprised when Tsar Pangea'Kalst, Monarch of the Okean, finally came into view, but when Hartracite finally stopped and pointed at something, designating the ruler by name, no one actually spotted him.
"He's literally right here"
"That's a whole continent with plants and animals"
"Yes, but it's also Pangea'Kalst"
Herlbe focused, trying to discern a singular source of life force amongst the thriving population of this continent, and indeed, after a few moments of seeking, he found it, what he had assumed to be the ambient life force was actually that of a singular being that was so large and full of vitality that it possessed a sort of natural aura of life.
Another confirmation came as a creature about the size of a few dozen blue whales was suddenly, and most carefully, picked up by pincers and brought closer to be devoured whole.
This was absolutely ludicrous, Herlbe found himself thinking that even General Loimos would need some time to deal with such an existence, it may not possessed great intellect, but who needed to be smart when you were so abhorrently huge that nothing would even deign to think about attacking you?
And clearly, Pangea'Kalst was a wide fellow, the part of him that stuck out of the water was covered in lush forest of multiple kinds, by countless species of animals and monsters, tribes of goblins and kobolds having their own territorial warfares.
"He is so large that different parts of him are in different seasons, and although he is definitely bigger than everything else, it is nothing compared to sheer height as he isn't floating you see? His legs reach all the way down to the depth, and as you can guess with the pincer just now, he is some sort of crab…"
"...Also his legs are covered in countless spikes, of which there are ten counting the one with pincers, but that should be obvious" the tsarina casually explained, she had tried a few times to dispatch the okean's ruler but had to ultimately give up, the dastard was not only incredibly tough in general, but his carapace was so thick and large that even blasting a hole as large as her palace into him wouldn't faze the tsar at all, and it would regenerate incredibly quickly as well, because of course it did.
Herlbe, who had sliced through a star earlier today, did not see how he could take down this creature, his soldiers would be incapable of doing anything, even the werewolf with his ability to spread rabies was useless as a simple look at this thing's life force was enough to know that its health and vitality were great enough to endure such an illness.
In fact, its vitality was so potent that even hitting the brain or heart might not be enough.
"I mean, if you can't kill it, it's alright, I am sure your boss can do it for you"
"...Are you challenging me, rabbit?"
"Viscacha"
"This realm was put under my care, and General Loimos wouldn't have missed this creature… This means that he trusts me with bringing it down"
"Or maybe he wants you to think outside the box?"
"I'll get outside that box by breaking through it! My style is brute strength and more brute strength… I'll split this crustacean in two"
What do you think?
