Side Story Chapter 182: The World Without Law (2)
Prickly sparks ran throughout Oh Kang-Woo’s body. It felt like every cell in his body was being forcibly woken up. The raging sea of demonic energy flowed beneath him.
“A-Aaaahh,” Kang-Woo groaned as he trembled.
Only after his body reconstruction was complete could he truly feel that he had become the Demonic Sea.
‘I see. So this is how it feels.’
It felt as if he had full control over the Demonic Sea— no, he was one with it. To make a comparison, if he had been controlling a giant robot from inside it all this time, now it felt like he had become the giant robot itself.
“I am… Gundam.”
Kang-Woo spread his arms widely and closed his eyes. He wondered if the residents who learned about lying for the first time felt this way. A powerful sense of omnipotence fired him up.
“I see…” Akart muttered as he stared at Kang-Woo with narrowed eyes.
He could feel suffocating energy exuding from Kang-Woo, who had become one with the Primordial Darkness.
‘This must be the uneasiness I had felt back then.’Akart closed his eyes and calmed his restless mind. He recalled the displeasing uneasiness when he faced the Demon King at the top of the tower— a feeling close to scraping metal with something sharp.
‘But…’
Akart’s eyes shone chillingly. He could still feel the displeasure but couldn’t fall back.
“I have… a mission.”
A mission to save worlds— a righteous and noble mission. The Titan’s eyes did not falter despite being before a sea that could devour the entire universe.
“Even if darkness clouds the path… light advances nonetheless. O Light, open the path to salvation for the world of which its Law has vanished.”
Clink.
The scale shook and rang like a bell. A massive pillar of light surged toward the sky and lit the entire Luceo Pure gold, like sunrise.
“Holy fuck,” Kang-Woo remarked as he looked up at the golden pillar. “I can’t believe you can say that shit without cringing.”
He could feel his balls shriveling up just from hearing it.@@novelbin@@
“Hyung-nim… are you okay?” asked Kim Si-Hun in a worried tone as he approached.
“Bwehehehe! Of course, I am, man.”
“Haaa… You have no idea how shocked I was.”
It was only natural to be shocked since Kang-Woo stabbed himself with the demonic sword.
“Seriously…! Kang-Woo!!! You could have told us before doing something like that…!” Seol-Ah scolded angrily.
“Hehe. Sorry, Darling. I’ll make up for it once everything’s over.”
Seol-Ah pouted and turned away. “I’ll… hold you up to that.” She then whispered, “It won’t end with just ten days this time.”
“What…? What won’t end with ten days?” Kang-Woo asked.
“I don’t know.”
“What? Who else would know but you?”
Lilith approached and said proudly, “Fufu. I wasn’t surprised, you know?”
Kang-Woo shrugged. “Well, anyway.”
He slowly walked toward Akart, the white demon crazed by righteousness, standing in front of the tens of thousands of soldiers of light. He was standing straight, his eyes burning with unbreakable resolve. ṘÅNồ𝖇ЕŚ
“Let’s get started.”
Boom!!
Kang-Woo charged forward without hesitation.
Wriggle—!!
Wings of black mucus sprouted from his back. He flew upward and swung down Midir like an ax.
Clink.
The two golden dishes on Akart’s scale spear shook. The chain connecting the dish and scale collided with the demonic sword.
“You are…!”
Akart grimaced fiercely. He deflected the blade by thrusting the spear upward and raised his right knee, aiming for Kang-Woo’s stomach.
Splat!!
The sound of hitting something viscous echoed instead of striking flesh.
“A lifeform that should not exist!”
Clang!!
Akart smashed the spear he had thrust upward back to the ground. Rays of light burst forth and aimed for Kang-Woo’s head.
“The only lifeform that shouldn’t exist is your mommy. Oh wait, she already doesn’t.”
Kang-Woo ducked to dodge the rays and leaned backward to land a somersault kick on Akart’s chin.
Thunk!
Kang-Woo had struck one of the body’s weak points, the chin, with all his might but a sound similar to striking metal echoed.
“Your words are as vulgar as always!!”
Akart jumped back as if he had not just been struck on the chin and pointed his spear at Kang-Woo. Twelve balls of condensed light spun rapidly.
Boom—!!!
The balls of light shot like cannonballs and flew at Kang-Woo erratically. Kang-Woo moved to the side with footwork resembling a dance. The balls were condensed with the Primordial Light which could disintegrate the Demonic Sea— he would die if he were to get hit by them.
The balls of light changed trajectories to chase after Kang-Woo.
‘Authority of Shadows.’
Kang-Woo sank into the ground as if he fell into a pitfall and instantly appeared behind Akart.
Fwoosh—!!
The gold and black Flames of Voracity opened its giant mouth to devour Akart.
“You dare?!”
The rapidly spinning twelve balls of light divided into two. Twenty-four balls of condensed light twirled rapidly around him as defense. The Flames of Voracity and the Primordial Light collided.
━━━━━━━━━!!!!
The explosion devoured even sound. A shockwave that could even obliterate a world shook the surroundings.
“Kurgh!”
Akart bit his lip anxiously and shook the scale. A dome of golden light enveloped the surroundings and isolated the space in the blink of an eye. They were battling in Luceo Pure— he couldn’t allow his precious paradise to be destroyed by the ripples of their battle.
“I can see you care a lot about the world you’ve made!”
Kang-Woo smiled mockingly as he continued to attack.
Fwoosh—!!!
The blazing flames engulfed Akart.
“A demon like you could never understand…” Akart bit his lip and raised his scale spear. “How I felt when I created this world.”
He had sacrificed more than Kang-Woo could imagine to create a paradise where everyone could be happy.
“I don’t need or want to know, bitch.”
Clang, clang, clang!!!
Their clashes sent shockwaves that could destroy the entire world every millisecond. The battle that felt like it would never end slowly began to tilt in one’s favor— toward the radiant golden light.
“Haaa, haaa, haaa,” Kang-Woo panted heavily.
He was covered in wounds that couldn’t heal with his immortality.
“It seems you have reached your limit,” remarked Akart, breathing far more evenly than Kang-Woo, with a cold expression. “Did you think you could defeat me with just this?”
Akart smiled mockingly. The uneasiness he had felt had washed away with the countless clashes.
“Huuu… Ptooey!
”Kang-Woo spat on the ground. Akart was as strong as he had expected. He couldn’t see any way he could win in his current state.
“Sheesh.”
He clicked his tongue and shook his head. Akart was still above him despite the completion of his body reconstruction. The wall was so towering that it felt insurmountable.
‘I feel like he’s gotten stronger too.’
It made sense. After all, they were in Luceo Pure, the world Akart had created. It wouldn’t be strange if he could draw out more of his true power here.
“You are… more relaxed than I expected you to be.” Akart tilted his head in confusion with narrowed eyes.
“Huh? Well, I mean…” Kang-Woo shrugged. “It’s because I haven’t even gotten serious.”
“...”
“Oh, but I thought I’d be able to see your Phase 2 at the very least.”
Kang-Woo had not expected Akart to have become stronger in his home ground.
“What are you talking about…?” Akart asked.
“I thought my current state would be enough to draw out your true form.”
“...”
However, things had not gone according to plan.
“Well, I guess it can’t be helped.”
Kang-Woo wouldn’t have to go through this if everything in life went according to plan.
“What… can’t be helped?” asked Akart as he frowned.
“More importantly,” Kang-Woo ignored Akart and changed the subject. “You keep saying shit like I see, and Is that all you’ve got. Why are you acting as if you know everything about me?”
Akart was talking as if he had grasped everything about him such as his true self and his limit. He was drawing a line and concluding it was Kang-Woo’s limit.
“We’re not that close. Wouldn’t you agree?”
Just like how Kang-Woo didn’t know much about Akart, it was the same vice-versa. Akart did not know who Kang-Woo was, what he had been through, and what kind of life he had lived.
“Do I… have to know?” Akart asked.
“Of course, you should. Because if you don’t, you’ll get your ass kicked.”
Kang-Woo cackled as he spread out his arms and took a deep breath. He focused on the sea of demonic energy flowing inside him.
Swoosh.
The crashing waves… the boundless army of evil deep inside him… Kang-Woo couldn’t fully control them before but not anymore. For the first time in his life of ten millennia since acquiring the Demonic Sea, he could control the entities lying dormant in the Demonic Sea without any risk.
He was himself, his mind as clear as day. He could exert his full power, unencumbered by unquenched desires or the rampaging Voracity.
“But it’s okay. You don’t have to know right now.”
‘After all, you’ll find out starting now.’
“Haaa,” Kang-Woo exhaled heatedly and placed his hand over his heart.
This motion and incantation were no longer necessary but carried it out anyway as if it were a sacred ritual.
“Ye who pass me, to the city of grief.”
What do you think?
