Chapter 462: One Month Later

Chapter 462 - One Month Later

This place is located in the upper half of the mountain. It was quite steep with rocks scattered all around.

Terrance originally wanted Mega Altaria to unleash a few full-powered Dragon Pulse or Draco Meteor to show off its strength, but considering the surrounding environment, he stopped himself from making a reckless move.

Even before evolving, acting carelessly in a place like this could be dangerous. Who knew what kind of impact it would have after Mega Evolution?

"Next time."

Terrance thought to himself. Besides, they were already very close to the mountain peak. If he were to cause destruction here, he wouldn't feel right about it—after all, Altaria's mother lived up there.

"This is it?" Seeing Terrance's Altaria cancel the Mega Evolution form, Albus was stunned.

"Uh... what else? The duration has increased, was it not worth testing out?" Terrance chuckled.

"A battle, of course! A battle!" Albus said helplessly.

"Alright! Since you've been urging me so many times, after the Gym battles, we'll have a battle."

"It's a promise then!"

...

...

One month later.

Over the course of this month, Terrance had participated in about sixty Gym Battles in total.

Some Trainers passed the challenge in one go, while others only managed to obtain a Badge after their second or third attempt.

In one month, Terrance had issued a total of twenty-six Badges.

Roughly one per day.

To Terrance, this pace felt a bit too fast, but after thinking it over, it made sense. After all, the Fallarbor Gym had just opened, and many challengers had come over because of its reputation. Moreover, there were also pre-scheduled challengers who had been waiting for their turn. The number of challengers would likely slow down later.

At the same time, during this month, Terrance had not been idle—he had been continuously practicing the meditation method that Master Victor had brought him.

After a month, Terrance could feel clear progress. His mental strength had strengthened by at least ten percent compared to before.

This estimation was based on how he felt when using Mega Evolution.

However, according to the notes in the meditation method booklet, increasing one's mental strength was relatively easy at first. Since he hadn't reached his limit before, his mental strength hasn't reached the saturation point yet. But once he reached that saturation point, further improvement would become much more difficult.

Meditation consists of two steps. The first is to enhance one's psychic energy until reaching their personal limit.

The time it takes to reach this stage varies for each person. Some might take only a few days or months, while others may need several years.

To awaken telekinesis, one must first reach the body's limit in psychic energy. Then, by refining the mental strength through the meditation method, they must push against this limit and break through the barrier. If successful, telekinesis will manifest naturally, allowing them to control small objects using their mental strength.

Terrance was still at the first step.

"The approval came through?"

Upon receiving Master Victor's call, Terrance spoke in surprise. Master Victor had gotten early word of it, so Terrance was expecting an official notification soon. However, he suspected that Master Victor must have put in considerable effort behind the scenes.

He had submitted the Gym format modification request a long time ago, but there had been no response—neither approval nor rejection.

Terrance had originally planned to depart for Nightmare Island with Albus and Fujiki, but unexpectedly, the news arrived at the last moment.

After a month of effort and adaptation, he could now sustain Mega Evolution for a stable six minutes. In his most recent test, the absolute limit had reached six minutes and four seconds.

Such a duration was already enough for most situations. At worst, with his deep understanding of himself, Terrance could cancel Mega Evolution at a critical moment if necessary.

"Yes, the approval has been granted. But there's also a small matter."

"It's a way to enhance your mental strength. This upcoming trip of yours is highly risky. Six minutes may seem like a long time, but it's still not entirely safe. I originally planned to go with you, but I spent too much time in Alola, and now I have a pile of unfinished business in the Breeder Association that I must take care of," Master Victor said.

"I still suggest that you either invite more people to join you or, as I mentioned, find a way to further increase your psychic energy and extend the duration of Mega Evolution."

"Is there a way?!" Terrance asked in surprise.

"I did some inquiries. From what I've learned, Saffron Gym in the Kanto Region possesses a special method to quickly push an ordinary person's mental strength to their limit. You might want to give it a try."

"This method is used by every psychic apprentice at Saffron Gym, which is why they have quite a number of psychics. If possible, you should consider learning from them."

Terrance froze. Saffron Gym?

Sabrina's gym?

"At this point in time, Sabrina's dark personality is probably even worse..." Terrance's lips twitched as he thought to himself.

It wasn't that he didn't want to go—it was that he didn't dare to.

"No, wait. Since Saffron Gym is a family-run Gym, Sabrina's father should also have the corresponding methods. Besides, because of what happened with Ralts before, I've at least met both Sabrina and her father once."

Though the outcome wasn't exactly pleasant—Terrance had been thrown out of the Gym by Sabrina's psychic power...

"But...Kirlia from back then has actually evolved into Gallade and gained such incredible strength. Sabrina, you probably didn't see that coming, did you?" Terrance chuckled to himself. Although that psychic girl was incredibly powerful and one of the Trainers he least wanted to interact with, he couldn't deny that her control over Psychic-type Pokémon was terrifying. If Kirlia had chosen Sabrina instead of him, who knew what things would be like now?

"What's wrong?" Seeing Terrance lost in thought on the other end of the video call, Master Victor asked.

"Nothing. If I get the chance, I'll go pay them a visit," Terrance replied.

Through Professor Oak, he had at least a passing acquaintance with Saffron Gym's former Gym Leader—Sabrina's father, Mr. Sam. If he could pay some price to push his mental strength to its limit and save himself from years of effort, Terrance was more than willing.

"Oh, and one more thing about the Gym—I should remind you. Although your application was approved, I suspect there will be an inspector sent undercover for evaluation. Be careful."

Terrance became serious. He nodded and said, "I understand."

After a few more brief exchanges, Terrance ended the video call.

Fallarbor Gym had now settled into a steady rhythm. Over the past month, Terrance had introduced more than a dozen newly hatched small bugs, raising them in the Gym's rear garden.

As it stands now, Fallarbor Gym was beginning to take shape. As long as they can get through this period and wait for Terrance to grow, they will be able to build up the same foundation as other Gyms.

"Before I leave, I need to inform Kotoko—her Gym Trainer identity will be finalized soon..."

"As for going to Saffron City, I should consult Albus and Fujiki first. They've already waited a whole month because of me, and I don't want to delay things any further."
