Chapter 359: Gengar
Chapter 359: Gengar
"Well done, Banette."
Inside one of the apartment buildings in Greenview Apartments, the wanted fugitive Viktor leaned against the window, peeking outside through a gap in the curtains.
Although it was pitch dark, and he couldn’t see a thing.
But his Pokémon could, they had already spotted a few little rats scurrying around, searching for him.
"You didn’t kill them, did you?" Viktor asked.
Banette shook its head, its red eyes glimmering with anticipation as it gazed at its Trainer.
"You’re still like this, even after all this time?"
Viktor sighed, picking up Banette, it was like a doll, a living doll.
Banette let out a creepy chuckle.
Pokémon were simple creatures, and most Pokémon were loyal to their Trainers, if a Trainer was righteous, their Pokémon became symbols of justice.
And if a Trainer was evil, their Pokémon became their weapons.
To Banette, Viktor wasn’t an S-Class wanted criminal, he was its Trainer, he was family and that was all that mattered.
"We’re leaving tomorrow," Viktor muttered.
The Bureau had already pinpointed this complex, but as long as they couldn’t find his exact location, they wouldn’t make a move.
He had deliberately spared those investigators earlier, if they had died, the Bureau would have been furious and might have stormed in recklessly.
And he was certain that an Elite-level Trainer was already on their way, or maybe they had arrived.
It might be just that they didn’t dare fight here, a residential area was no place for a battle of that scale. Unless, of course, that Elite was an idiot.
Banette nodded.
It didn’t care where they went, as long as it was with its Trainer, that was enough.
Just then another Pokémon floated in.
"Dusknoir, have they pulled back?" Viktor asked.
Dusknoir nodded.
"You continue to hide around this building, and Banette, you stay with me," he ordered.
Viktor was always cautious, that’s how he had made it this far without being caught.
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?"
He muttered under his breath, from the very beginning something felt off, something was about to happen, and he didn’t like it.
Banette tilted its head in confusion.
"Maybe I’m overthinking it. Afterall to evade both of you and take me down in an instant... even a peak Elite can’t pull that off."
Viktor shook his head, as if trying to convince himself, but deep down, his guard was higher than ever.
He reached for a third Poké Ball, with a flash, a chubby Gengar appeared.
"Gengar, go hide in the apartment downstairs. If anything happens here, rush to my aid immediately."
Gengar grinned and slowly sank into the floor.
---
Inside the Bar.
Mark and Larry sat there, both looking troubled, with the investigators retreating, their previous plan was a complete failure.
"There’s no Plan B?" Julian asked.
Didn’t TV shows always have a backup plan?
"Plan B is to wait for a late-stage Ghost Elite to arrive and quietly take care of Viktor," Mark replied.
"And when will they get here?"
"The earliest would be tomorrow."
There were over 500 Elites in Drakoria, but most were early or mid-stage, and only about one-tenth had reached late-stage or peak level.
And at that level, unless they were government-appointed Elites, if they were independent, they wouldn’t make a move without a good incentive.
"So as long as it’s done quietly, it’s fine?" Julian asked.
Mark wasn’t sure what he meant but nodded.
"Viktor is a mid-stage Ghost Elite. If we want to take him down silently, we’d need a peak Ghost-type Elite. Even a late-stage one wouldn’t be completely reliable."
Julian nodded. "Leave it to me then."@@novelbin@@
Mark froze, but before he could say anything, Larry hurriedly spoke up.
"Julian, don’t do anything reckless!"
Julian was an Elite, but his strongest Pokémon was Dragonite, and how could Dragonite silently approach Viktor?
"You mean Gengar?"
Mark knew Julian had a Gengar, and not just any Gengar, but a Shiny one.
Julian nodded again. "Just leave it to me."
With that, he walked out of the bar. Larry wanted to chase after him, but Mark stopped him.
"What are you doing? Hurry up and stop him! This isn’t a joke!"
"If something goes wrong, he has a Champion-level grandfather. What do we have?" Larry said anxiously.
Mark hesitated for a moment.
"My grandfather is a peak Elite."
Larry: |( ̄Д ̄)ノ
'What the hell?! How is this even fair?!'
'So if something really goes wrong, the only one screwed here is me?!'
"Damn it, my father and grandfather are seriously useless!"
Mark: ┗(▔,▔)┛
"Trust Julian, he won’t mess this up," Mark said seriously.
Back in the Hundred Schools League, Julian had single-handedly crushed the entire Modu Academy, no one would have believed it at first.
Then, as a pseudo-Elite, he took down actual Elites, and not just one.
Every single person who doubted Julian ended up slapped in the face.
Seeing how confident Mark was, and with no better plan, Larry said nothing more, he sat down and downed a large gulp of alcohol.
Outside the bar, Julian glanced around, then said: "Go and find Viktor."
A sly chuckle echoed from the shadows as an unseen, undetectable figure strode into the Greenview Apartments with confidence.
Greenview Apartments had a total of twenty-five buildings, each five stories tall.
Gengar could search an entire building in just one minute.
1, nothing. 2, nothing. 3, nothing.
Along the way, it unexpectedly came across a few unconscious people.
And a Dusknoir patrolling in an invisible state.
Dusknoir: 'My trainer told me to guard this place, so I'll do my best'
“Jie jie”
Gengar suddenly appeared in front of it, its blood-red eyes glowing with a dizzying, hypnotic light.
Dusknoir: zZZ
As a late-stage pseudo-Elite, it stood no chance against Gengar’s Hypnosis.
When Gengar reached Building 16, third floor, it suddenly spotted one of its own kind, another Gengar, lying on a sofa watching TV. The people in the room had already been put to sleep by it.
The TV was playing a program on how to prank people.
Gengar had originally planned to put its kin to sleep as well, but after seeing this, 'hmm, maybe I'll watch first'.
Ten minutes later, Gengar's face was filled with excitement.
So pranks could be done like this? Compared to what was on TV, its own pranks were not even in the same dimension!
Its fellow Gengar was just as fascinated.
“Jie jie”
The other Gengar decided to test these new tricks on its Trainer sometime.
“Jie jie”
Gengar, who was laughing, suddenly looked around, then at itself.
'Did I just laugh twice?'
A few seconds later.
“Jie jie”
Another laugh echoed.
Startled, the other Gengar jumped up from the sofa in fright.
"What the hell? Is there a ghost in this room?"
