Chapter 369: Paralysis

Chapter 369: Paralysis

Mega Gengar floated in front of Sceptile, its eyes releasing a glow that threatened to put the Grass-type to sleep. Sceptile glared back, locking eyes with Mega Gengar.

Sceptile: "I will never be hypnotized by you."

The next second—

Sceptile: "Zzzz..."

Watching Sceptile sleep so soundly, Mega Gengar showed a smug look, its eyes gleaming with satisfaction. Hypnosis and Lick were its two favourite moves.

After hypnotizing Sceptile, Mega Gengar did not use Dream Eater or Nightmare, the two moves that accompany Hypnosis.

Instead, it retreated nearly a hundred meters.

Julian looked at it suspiciously, wondering what the hell this ghost was up to now, but he didn’t intend to stop it. After all, the battle’s outcome had already been decided the moment it started.

Soon, Julian realized what Mega Gengar was trying to do.

It waved its hands and used Sludge Bomb again, but instead of launching them all at once, it carefully hurled them one by one at the unconscious Sceptile.

One, ten, thirty, by the time it was done, nearly a hundred Sludge Bombs had rained down on Sceptile.

By now, Sceptile was completely unable to battle, but that wasn’t the point. The real issue was that, even after being hit by 'hundreds' of Sludge Bombs... it still wasn’t poisoned.

Mega Gengar turned to look at Julian.

Julian's face darkened: "What do you mean?"

Damn it. At first, he hadn’t understood what this b*****d was trying to do, but as the Sludge Bombs kept pelting the unconscious Sceptile, it finally hit him—

Mega Gengar: "Look, I threw a hundred Sludge Bombs, and it still didn’t get poisoned."

Mega Gengar: "Unlucky Emperor."

With a flick of his wrist, Julian threw a Poké Ball capturing Sceptile, and also released the Mega Evolution form. Gengar floated over to its Trainer with a grin.

Julian: "Stay away from me, I’m angry."

Anyone would be angry after being disrespected like that.

Metagross grinned, while Dragonite looked at Julian innocently.

Celebi: "I, Celebi, acknowledge you as the true Emperor of Unluckiness."

Julian: "Get lost!"

"Kehhehe..."

Looking at its Trainer practically steaming with rage, Gengar stretched out his scarlet tongue and licked his cheek.

Julian sneered: "I’ve already gotten used to this kind of para—"

Before he could even finish the sentence, an even stronger wave of paralysis suddenly shot through his body, he couldn’t even reach into his pocket for a Cheri Berry.

Julian: 'Did I just got double-paralyzed!?'

Looking at its Trainer who fell straight on the ground, twitching slightly, Gengar was stunned and stared in surprise.

Gengar: "You’re messing with me."

Metagross: "The acting is really good, just like the real thing."

Dragonite: "A true method actor."

Celebi: "Why is there foam coming out of his mouth?"

Gengar, Metagross, Dragonite: Σ(°△°

By nightfall, the tent had been set up, and the campfire crackled softly. The burning wood sent occasional sparks flying into the warm night air.

Julian sipped the coffee Slowking had prepared, his paralysis had long since worn off, but his mood was still sour.

It was baffling, why did paralysis always hit him harder than anyone else? He had already resigned himself to the fact that Lick always paralyzed him—but now it was 'double' effective? After all the training he’d done to resist it, was it all for nothing?

Meanwhile, Gengar was huddled with Arcanine, Aggron, Melmetal, and Steelix. It must have said something, because all four Pokémon turned their heads in unison to look at Julian.

Their eyes were filled with curiosity.

Julian: "What are you all looking at?"

He felt... offended.

Gengar: "See? I told you."

The four Pokémon nodded subconsciously.

This movement was caught by Julian's peripheral vision, and he gritted his teeth angrily.

"Arcanine, come here," Julian shouted.

Arcanine instantly got up and trotted over, wagging its tail happily.

That tail-wagging made Julian even more annoyed.

Without a word, he grabbed Arcanine’s head with both hands and-

Rubbing the dog's head angrily!!

After rubbing for a while, Arcanine's tongue stuck out, and Julian let go.

'Now' he felt better.

"Mel~"

Melmetal walked over, Julian gave it a puzzled look as the steel giant bent down, lowering its head toward him.

It had seen how much Arcanine enjoyed getting its head rubbed and wanted to give it a try too.

Looking at the lump of metal in front of him, Julian fell into deep thought. Although Melmetal’s body was liquid metal, its head was not. That was pure, solid metal.

Not wanting to play favorites, Julian simply patted its head lightly. "Don’t try to copy Arcanine, it’s a little dumb."

Arcanine tilted its head, staring at Julian.

'Dumb? Who’s dumb?'

On the side, Slowking had already prepared dinner and was calling Julian over.

Tonight’s meal was hotpot, the ingredients were plentiful, including a variety of berries freshly gathered from the forest.

They were still camped at the battle site where Mega Gengar and Sceptile had fought, the entire area—spanning a full kilometer—was now nothing but open land, completely devoid of cover.

If any wild Pokémon approached, they’d see it instantly.

Looking up, you could see the night sky.

In this Secret Realm dominated by forests and lakes, the night sky seems to be brighter than any other Secret Realms.

The moon hung high, stars twinkled across the night sky, steam from the hotpot rose in gentle swirls, carrying the rich aroma of simmering broth.

Food burst with flavor on the tongue, surrounded by Pokémon, some standing, some resting, and others simply taking a nap.

Julian: "Where’s the beef? I just put a whole bunch of beef in the pot."

Celebi: "I dunno." (Cheeks puffed out, mouth full.)

Before an argument could break out at the dinner table, Slowking swiftly placed a fresh portion of beef and greens into Julian’s bowl, effectively stuffing his mouth before he could complain further.

"Slowking, don’t worry about me—go get Metagross and the others their food first."

"Slow~"

Slowking nodded, it had already prepared food for Metagross and the rest earlier, if it wasn’t for the risk of Julian and Celebi starting a fight over food, the others would have started eating long ago.

Arcanine sat in front of Julian, its long tongue hanging out, shimmering drool dripping as it stared longingly at the bubbling beef slices in the pot.

Julian sighed: "Here, but only a little, once you're done, go eat your Pokéblocks."

He picked up a few pieces of beef and gave them to Arcanine.

Among his Pokémon, the one who craved human food most was definitely Celebi, with Arcanine coming in a close second.

But Julian had long since given up trying to control Celebi’s eating habits—it was a mythical Pokémon, and its body could probably handle anything.

Arcanine, on the other hand, was one of his main Pokémon, even if human food wouldn’t harm it, he wasn’t about to let it develop this eating habit.

After eating the beef, Arcanine left contentedly.

Meanwhile, Slowking had already finished setting out food for the rest of them.
