Chapter 383: The Chosen One
Julian was able to obtain the Poison-type treasure without anyone noticing, thanks to Gengar’s Absolute Invisibility. With this ability, even a Champion-level Pokémon couldn’t easily detect Gengar while it was invisible.
Because of this, during his battle with the seven trainers, Julian had already secretly sent Gengar to the swamp.
As the Poison-type treasure fully formed, a green glow spread across half the sky of the secret realm before suddenly vanishing.
Everyone assumed that the treasure had simply withdrawn its energy inward. In reality, it was Gengar, invisible, who had stolen the Poison-type treasure.
To cover its tracks, Gengar left behind a Toxic Orb with most of its energy drained.
A treasure that over a dozen Elite trainers had been fighting over was taken just like that, leaving them clashing over something that had already disappeared.
Both trainers and Pokémon had suffered casualties in the chaos.
With the Poison-type treasure in his hand, Julian had no reason to stay involved in the unnecessary battle. However, he needed an excuse to leave.
So, he used concerns about potential injuries to himself and his Pokémon, along with the fact that the Walker family didn’t lack such items, as reasons to withdraw in front of everyone.
He didn’t even get close to the center of the swamp.
This, combined with his sudden departure, only made some people even more convinced that Julian was simply being cautious.
Looking at Gengar making silly faces at him, Julian grabbed its cheeks with both hands and pulled hard.
“I’m starting to wonder if you’re some kind of ‘Chosen One’ among Pokémon.”
“How do you always end up getting the best stuff?”
Back in the depths of the White Mountain Range, after dealing with Spiritomb, Julian had obtained a Ghost-type treasure—Soul Crystal—which, of course, he gave to Gengar.
Later, at the Rockwell City auction, he had won another Soul Crystal as the final item, though it was much smaller than the first. He had also given that to Gengar.
And now, they had gotten the Poison-type treasure, the Poison Pearl.
Gengar was both a Ghost- and Poison-type Pokémon, making it the only one on Julian’s team with those typings. If the Poison Pearl wasn’t for Gengar, then who else would it be for?
On top of that, Gengar was already a Shiny Pokémon, which had granted it Absolute Invisibility.
And now, it just so happened to have been caught by Julian, who had a reality-defying system of his own. Its strength had skyrocketed as if it were riding a rocket.
Honedge was also part Ghost-type, but it had joined much later and had missed out on these treasures.
Now, Gengar had two Soul Crystals—one large and one small—inside its body, and on top of that, it had just obtained the Poison Pearl. The first two weren’t even fully absorbed yet, and now a third one had been added.
It had taken all the best opportunities for itself, making Julian seriously wonder if Gengar was truly a ‘Chosen One’ among Pokémon.
If not for Metagross possessing the Heart of Arceus, which surpassed all treasures, Gengar’s foundation would have already surpassed Metagross’s.
Even so, Gengar’s foundation was now second only to Metagross.
“Gengar—Gengar!”
Gengar didn’t understand what its trainer meant, but it loved playing with Julian. Even though its mouth had been stretched nearly a meter long, it was still enjoying itself.
“Are you feeling okay?” Julian asked.
Gengar now had three major treasures within its body, but fortunately, all of them were meant to be absorbed gradually over time.
Probing Eyes didn’t show any abnormalities, either.
Gengar tried to shake its head, but since Julian was still pulling its mouth, it couldn’t move.
Instead, it stuck out its tongue and licked Julian, using that as an answer.
It was feeling great—so great that it thought it could even arm wrestle with Aggron.
Julian took out a Cheri Berry to remove the paralysis he had been feeling. The numbness was getting stronger, and he had noticed that it wasn’t just because Gengar’s power had increased.
The two Soul Crystals inside Gengar were also enhancing the strength of its Ghost-type moves.
And since Lick fell under the category of Ghost-type moves, it was becoming more potent.
At this rate, he might need two Cheri Berries just to get rid of the effect in the future.
The next day, Julian made a post on Geek, announcing that he was willing to buy the Poison-type treasure from Secret Realm No. 98 at any price. The conditions were up to the seller—an extremely bold offer.
After a night of rumors spreading, news of the Poison-type treasure appearing in Secret Realm No. 98 had ignited fierce battles among several Elite trainers.
The topic became the hottest discussion of the day among people.
Julian’s name was also mentioned—he had been involved but ultimately gave up.
“I wonder which Elite got their hands on the Poison-type treasure.”
“I heard that five Elites died fighting for it, and over a dozen Pokémon were lost.”
“Can someone knowledgeable explain what kind of Poison-type treasure this was?”
“Same question.”
“+10086”
“There’s a rumor that it was a Toxic Orb.”
“Toxic Orb: So I was actually an Ultimate Poison-type treasure all along!?”
After Julian left the secret realm, the battle over the Poison-type treasure had escalated to a full-blown war among over a dozen Elite-level trainers. Nearly half the secret realm had been affected.
The battlefield itself had been turned into a wasteland—nothing was likely to grow there for years.
The battle had been unimaginably brutal. In the end, five Elite trainers had died, and the number of fallen Elite-tier Pokémon wasn’t just over ten—it had exceeded twenty.
Yet, Drakoria’s officials remained silent on the matter.
Even though every Elite-level trainer was considered a part of the country’s strength, battles over resources were inevitable among trainers.
If you died, it simply meant you weren’t strong enough.
As for which trainer ultimately obtained the Poison-type treasure, no one knew for sure.
And the earlier rumor claiming it was a Toxic Orb wasn’t taken seriously by most people.
While the Toxic Orb was a decent Poison-type item, it was far from reaching the level of an Ultimate treasure.
Perhaps the item just 'looked' like a Toxic Orb.
Even the trainer who obtained the so-called treasure thought the same way—that it just resembled a Toxic Orb, but in reality, it was an entirely new Poison-type treasure—one that had never appeared before.
Thinking of this, the trainer who had seized it was overcome with excitement.
After all, he had paid a steep price for it, losing two Elite Pokémon and even one of his arms in the battle.
But with this treasure, he was certain that he would grow even stronger. Perhaps, one day, he could even reach the Champion level.
For a Poison-type specialist like him, this Poison-type treasure felt like it had been made just for him.
In the outside world, apart from Julian, the major families had also taken notice. Many of them, especially those focused on Poison-types, offered extravagant prices and rare resources in hopes of acquiring it.
They leveraged every connection they had to track down the trainer who had obtained it.
If the trainer was willing to trade, that would be ideal. If not… then it would come down to a contest of power to see who was stronger.
But none of this had anything to do with Julian anymore, he was already packing his bags, preparing to leave Eastwood City.
Before he left, though, Mark insisted on treating him to a meal.
Besides seeing Julian off, Mark also wanted to express his gratitude—for helping him capture the S-rank fugitive, Viktor.
