Chapter 400: You Wish
The direct descendants of the Cavendish family all stared at Julian’s Pokémon with eyes practically glowing—they looked like they wanted to snatch them away on the spot.
The Cavendish family specialized in Grass-type Pokémon and had a natural talent in that field. As a result, most of their family members chose Grass-types as their primary type.
Of course, there were exceptions. Some chose different typings—for example, Lance, whose main type was Dragon.
To support his choice, the family head had used a considerable amount of connections to obtain a Cyan-tier pseudo-legendary Dragon for him.
Now, Lance was staring at Julian’s Dragonite, absolutely thrilled.
He had a strong affinity for Dragon-types, so he could easily tell just how well Julian had trained his Dragonite.
Even compared to a classmate from the Drake family, that person's Dragonite was nowhere near the level of Julian’s Dragonite.
“Julian, can you help me train my Sliggoo?” Lance asked expectantly.
Even though he usually didn’t get along with Julian, he was willing to let go of past grudges if Julian agreed to train his Pokémon.
The Cavendish family head overheard this and immediately thought it was a great idea. If Julian helped train his son’s Sliggoo, it might skyrocket in strength right away.
It was common for noble families to have their Pokémon trained by others.
In fact, many noble family heirs didn’t even train their own Pokémon—their families had professional breeders do it for them.
Most aristocratic families employed several senior-level breeders, whose job was to care for and train the family's Pokémon.
Of course, to receive such treatment, one had to be either extremely talented or have a father with high status in the family.
However—
“You wish.”
Julian’s words instantly turned Lance’s face black.
There wasn’t even a hint of hesitation in his rejection.
Why would he train his Pokémon? Julian was starting to wonder if he hadn’t beaten him up enough in the past—was that why Lance had somehow gotten the delusion that he was easy to talk to?
“Julian, please don’t be mad, Lance was just too impressed by your Dragonite and Gabite’s training. He got carried away,” the family head quickly tried to smooth things over.
Even though he was displeased, he didn’t dare offend Julian.
Not to mention Julian’s grandmother was present, Julian’s own potential alone was enough reason to be cautious.
As long as he didn’t fall, Julian was guaranteed to become one of the most powerful Trainers in not just Drakoria, but the entire world.
When that happened, thanks to his grandmother’s connection to their family, Julian would at least look after the Cavendish family a little.
As the patriarch, his duty was to prioritize the family’s interests—not just his own son.
“Alright, Lance, head back for now. I’ll arrange for a breeder from the Drake family to help you.”
Since Lance was his most talented son, the family head still spoke gently to comfort him.
The Drake family was the undisputed leader of Dragon-type training in Drakoria, with an extensive range of services—including Dragon-type Pokémon breeding and training.
Many Dragon-type Trainers regularly sought out breeders from the Drake family. After all, they were the true experts in the field. If a Trainer’s own skills weren’t up to par, it was better for the Pokémon’s health to leave it in professional hands.
Lance left, feeling dejected.
Fortunately, he wasn’t stupid enough to make a scene—otherwise, the one embarrassed would have been his father.
“This Metagross is even better trained than that old bas***d’s.”
Evelyn looked at the silver-white Metagross, her gaze gradually turning distant and nostalgic—but before long, her kind expression shifted into one of anger.
If there weren’t so many people around, Julian really wanted to ask her what exactly had happened between her and Grandpa that led to their divorce.
Even after splitting up, it was obvious that they still cared for each other—but both of them were just too stubborn to admit it.
At this point, Julian was the only bridge of communication between them.
Since the conversation had drifted toward his Grandpa, Julian wisely chose to stay silent.
“Your Metagross is at the peak of pseudo-Elite, it should be able to break through to Elite at any moment.”
As a senior Breeder, and having once taken care of John’s Steel-type Pokémon, Evelyn was extremely familiar with Steel-types.
With just one glance, she could tell Metagross’ current state.
“With such a solid foundation, that old man’s Metagross back then couldn’t even compare to my dear grandson’s,” Evelyn sighed.
Metagross was Julian’s ace—his one and only ace—and also his started Pokémon.
Whether it was the resources provided by the Walker family or the ones acquired through the system, Julian had primarily invested everything he had into Metagross.
Its Purple-tier potential had already turned one-fifth into Gold.
Not to mention, there was still a portion of Heart of Arceus inside it, yet to be fully absorbed. Once it was completely absorbed, Metagross would be able to break through to Elite rank.
“Gen~”
At this moment, Gengar floated over to Julian’s grandmother, stretching its face into a mischievous ghostly grin.
Julian immediately pulled Gengar back. “Don’t try to scare Grandma!”
Gengar, now restrained, responded by giving Julian a big, wet Lick.
Julian: 'Damn it.'
Trembling slightly, he fished out a Cheri Berry from his pocket, quickly eating it to cure the paralysis.
Then, without hesitation, he rubbed Gengar all over before shoving it back into his shadow.
However, in the very next second, Gengar popped back out—now swimming through Julian’s shadow like it was a pool.
“Your Gengar is quite the troublemaker, my dear grandson.”
Evelyn chuckled, watching Julian and Gengar mess around.
She had initially wanted to scold Gengar when she saw Julian paralyzed, but after watching him casually pull out a Cheri Berry and recover, she simply laughed instead.
The fluidity of Julian’s actions made it clear—this wasn’t his first time dealing with Gengar’s antics.
—
Julian stayed at the Cavendish family estate for three days. On the fourth day, he bid farewell to his grandmother.
He never felt fully comfortable at the Cavendish family’s place. Every day, there was a steady stream of younger family members coming to visit him—most of them trying to win his favor.
Julian didn’t dislike these people. In fact, he even felt a bit impressed by them. After all, to curry favor with someone, you first had to set aside your pride.
Since Julian stood at a high enough position, he never needed to flatter anyone. But he didn’t look down on these people either. They were simply doing what they had to, to secure a better future for themselves.
To ordinary Trainers, those born into prestigious families seemed privileged and enviable. But the truth was, among such families, bonds of kinship were often weak.
To earn the family’s backing, one had to prove their worth—which usually meant defeating their own relatives.
If you weren’t outstanding, you became just another marginal figure in the family—sometimes even worse off than a regular civilian Trainer.
Julian was naturally reserved, and he didn’t enjoy making small talk with strangers. If given a choice, he’d much rather spend time with his Pokémon than engage in meaningless social interactions.
Now, seated on Dragonite’s back, Julian was heading toward Imperial University. From beneath his clothes, Celebi’s small head peeked out, its eyes curiously scanning the scenery.
On the flight saddle, a large bag of snacks sat beside Julian.
All of it had been prepared by Celebi—for snacking during the trip.
When it saved Duke before, Celebi had returned to its normal size, but in just a few short days, its once-slim figure was noticeably getting rounder again.
