Pokemon: Reborn Rich Alternate Earth

Chapter 440: Causing A Stir

"Compared to Nikola, I'm still far behind," Quinn sighed.

As the youngest recipient of the Arceus Award, Quinn had always been extremely confident in her abilities as a Pokémon scholar.

Even if there were others in the world more skilled than her, she believed they wouldn't be that far ahead—and she was confident she could catch up.

But now, her confidence was shattered by Nikola, someone she had never even met.

Creating a Mythical Pokémon like Magearna—such a near-perfect masterpiece—was an achievement far beyond her current capabilities.

Though her confidence had taken a hit, her competitive spirit was ignited instead. And with it, so was her passion for Pokémon research.

There was a living example of Nikola' genius right in front of her—along with the schematics and documentation for its creation.

As a Pokémon scholar, how could she not try to replicate it?

Even if she failed in the end, the knowledge she would gain from the process would greatly benefit her future research.

"Julian, I'll be taking this book with me."

Quinn was already itching to dive into its contents.

"Aunty, are you planning to take that book to the lab?" Julian asked.

"Yeah, what's the matter?" Quinn asked, confused.

Henry, who had been listening, interjected, "Sister, your lab is government-owned, you’re not the only researcher there."

"If someone else catches sight of that information..."

He trailed off, but Quinn already understood.

The national research institute where she worked housed many brilliant scholars like herself.

If they discovered the book's contents and reported it to the Drakorian government, the Walker family’s hopes of keeping Magearna’s creation technology for themselves would be dashed.

Of course, this didn’t mean the Walker family was disloyal to their country. They simply wanted to strengthen the family’s influence within Drakoria, while still being patriotic.

If the Walker family didn't love their country, their ancestors wouldn't have fought on the frontlines for generations.

Patriotism and family interests were not mutually exclusive.

"Then I'll resign right away. Big brother, help me set up a private research lab. You can handle hiring the assistants," Quinn declared decisively.

She was already working on an important experiment at the lab, but compared to this new discovery, it no longer mattered.

"Leave it to me," Henry nodded.

The Walker Group already owned several laboratories and research facilities.

However, Henry intended to build Quinn an entirely new private research lab from scratch.

"Julian, can you lend me Magearna for a while too?" Quinn asked.

Combining theory with practice was the fastest way to make progress.

"Mage~"

Magearna walked over to Julian, clutching the hem of his clothes with its small hands. It was clear that it didn’t want to be separated from him.

Julian was the first person it saw after being rebooted. Its creator, Nikola, had long passed away, making Julian its only remaining family in a way.

"Aunty, maybe later. Magearna is still young," Julian refused.

Magearna had no memories of its past life, and its level had reset to one. In every sense, it was now like a newly hatched Pokémon.

In this fragile stage, Julian wasn’t about to let it leave his side. He needed to bond with it properly.

If he let Magearna go with Quinn now, it might grow more attached to her instead—and by the time its mind matured, it might no longer see Julian as its true partner.

"Alright, you can send it over in the future."

Quinn relented without pressing the matter.

One reason was that she had only skimmed through the manufacturing data. To fully read and understand it would take a considerable amount of time.

Another reason was that if she really brought Magearna back with her, she would have to take care of it. Considering she could barely take care of herself, adding the responsibility of looking after a Pokémon was clearly too much for her.

Julian nodded in agreement.

Seeing that everything was more or less settled, John said, "It's rare for the whole family to be together—let's go out for a late-night meal, my treat!"

Far away in Lake City, Jake: 'So, I’m not your son?'

John's proposal was naturally met with unanimous approval from Henry, Quinn, and Julian.

Among the four of them, aside from Julian, the other three were usually quite busy: one was a Champion, one was a Pokémon scholar, and the other was a wealthy businessman.

They were usually so busy that they barely had time to meet, sometimes going an entire year without gathering.

If Julian hadn’t dragged the three of them over today, who knew when they would next get together.

Jake: 'Ungrateful son!'

The four of them didn’t head to any fancy restaurant but instead went to a barbecue joint on the commercial street near Imperial University.

Ever since Julian enrolled at Imperial University, he had always been the most eye-catching student on campus.

But tonight, that was no longer the case—the most dazzling figure was John.

Most people rarely had the chance to see an Elite-level trainer, but as students of Imperial University, they often saw Elite-level instructors.

However, seeing a Champion was another story. Even for Elite trainers, meeting a Champion was difficult.

After all, there were only six Champions in the entire Nation. To put it in perspective, there were even more confirmed sightings of First-class Legendary Pokémon in Drakoria than there were Champions. That alone showed how rare they were.

Now, seeing a living, breathing Champion—not on the pages of a book or in a video—was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the students.

When John appeared at Imperial University, sitting casually at the barbecue joint, eating skewers with great gusto, the news spread across the entire campus in an instant.

It didn’t matter if they were from the Trainer Academy or not—every student rushed to the commercial street to catch a glimpse of John.

Even the professors from Imperial University came by.

After all, they were fans too—being teachers didn’t mean they couldn’t admire a Champion.

Moreover, there was Quinn, a renowned Pokémon scholar, who was basically a living legend in the Pokémon Research Academy.

And Henry, the big-time businessman, was naturally an idol to the students from the Business Department.

Still, out of the four, John was undoubtedly the most popular.

A Champion's appeal went beyond gender, appearance, or age—none of that mattered anymore.

Though the crowd nearly blocked the entire barbecue joint, no one actually disturbed them.

Everyone stood around holding their phones, staring at them like they were observing a rare species.

Even the barbecue shop owner was filming the scene with his phone, muttering excitedly,

"A Champion is eating at my restaurant—I’m gonna be rich!"

"The chair that Champion Walker sat on—renting it out for 10,000 a session doesn’t seem unreasonable, right?"

With that kind of business sense, it was almost a shame he was only running a barbecue shop.

"You youngsters, make sure you turn on the beauty filters when you take pictures—I like to look good too," John said with a smile.

He wasn’t bothered by the students’ excitement. In fact, he rather enjoyed it. Seeing himself as their idol, how could he possibly be upset?

Hearing John’s playful remark, the students burst into laughter.

One bold student shouted, "Champion Walker, can I have a drink with you?"

"Drinking? Sure! When it comes to drinking, this old man has never been afraid of anyone!"

The other students watched enviously as the lucky one shared a drink with the Champion. They secretly regretted not being the first to ask.

Having shared a drink with a Champion—that was a story to brag about for the rest of your life!
