Chapter 168
"Ughhhh!!!"
Clifton, who had been trembling uncontrollably upon hearing the news that angry citizens, wearing badges with red flags, had gathered in front of the imperial palace, completely lost control when his advisor informed him that the parliament had unanimously decided to strip the Third Prince of his succession rights. No matter how much the emperor tried, it would be nearly impossible to reinstate his son now. Knowing this, Clifton, with his crippled leg, screamed and raged.
"How dare they! How dare those worthless commoners...!"@@novelbin@@
He had completely forgotten how much he had valued those very commoners before he lost his mind. He had once understood that public opinion would become the opinion of the House of Commons, influencing parliamentary debates. But now, having lost all reason, his true feelings were spilling out unchecked.
Before he reached his current position, public sentiment and each vote had been precious to him, though not sincerely. His true belief was that the empire’s citizens existed solely for his own benefit. To him, they were merely tools to elevate himself. He had always looked down on them, like a god viewing the crawling worms beneath him.
Now, with his damaged leg barely supporting him, Clifton was wreaking havoc in the luxurious inner chambers of the imperial palace. As he threw a tantrum, he was oblivious to the fact that he had been numbing his pain with morphine, his mind corrupted by drugs. Unable to control his anger, he threw a decorated vase, shattered a mirror, tore down curtains, and kicked chairs, his violent outbursts echoing through the hallway.
It was nothing short of madness.
Amidst the chaos, someone entered the room without knocking.
What do you think?
