Chapter 222 - 214 Counterattack_2

Chapter 222: Chapter 214 Counterattack_2

Upon hearing this question, Qiao Jing retorted with one of her own, casting a sidelong glance at the bystanders. Her aloof demeanor and stunning looks naturally made people feel distant.

But to the bystanders’ surprise, the look in Qiao Jing’s eyes suggested that the truth was not as it seemed.

“You deny it? If you think I’m making this up, shall we ask the police if it’s alright?”@@novelbin@@

Lin Xiuxiang, furious, was about to dial the emergency number in front of Qiao Licheng and Jhiang Cuifeng.

This finally made Qiao Licheng and Jhiang Cuifeng feel guilty, and they got up from the ground.

“Call the police for such a trifle?”

“That’s because you’re feeling guilty.”

Lin Xiuxiang waved the number “110” in front of them, about to press the call button.

“Don’t call! Isn’t it enough if I don’t take her money?”

Qiao Licheng’s face turned pale.

The bystanders were all stunned.

What’s going on?

Wasn’t it this girl who was so unfilial, refusing to support their father and grandmother?

How could it be—really—

“We wronged the young girl. People like them are not fit to be parents!”

“Get out of here, we’re sorry! Miss, we misjudged you.”

The scolding immediately shifted to Qiao Licheng and Jhiang Cuifeng.

And the first one who couldn’t stand it was Jhiang Cuifeng, her face pale, feeling waves of discomfort in her chest, her figure swaying.

The bystanders now knew the truth and wouldn’t fall for their act anymore.

“Still acting? Just get out of here.”

“The older they get, the more shameless they become.”

Qiao Licheng’s face was a mosaic of colors, and he supported Jhiang Cuifeng, escaping under the barrage of insults from the people.

“Tongtong, let’s not mind them, shall we continue our shopping?”

Qiao Jing said in a soft voice, her expression much gentler when facing Lin Xiuxiang.

Several days later, Qiao Jing was busy at the research institute.

After a full day’s work, she decided to go out to buy groceries.

As soon as she got out, however, a sudden downpour fell from the sky, hitting the vendors’ counters with a pitter-patter, and small droplets hit the ground, forming a thin curtain of water.

At that moment, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind her.

“Qiao Jing!”

Qiao Jing paused slightly and turned to look. Zhan Ruiting was standing behind her, umbrella in hand, having appeared at some point.

But Qiao Jing had no intention of entertaining him, her dress already soaked through.

Zhan Ruiting took a few steps forward and the black umbrella appeared above Qiao Jing’s head.

“Why have you come?”

Qiao Jing lowered the car window and placed her bag inside the car before turning around.

Zhan Ruiting’s gaze was fixed on Qiao Jing, he said somewhat embarrassedly.

“It’s raining, I came to pick you up.”

Qiao Jing was dressed in a light blue dress, which had been rather loose but clung to her body like a second skin after being soaked by the rain.

The dress outlined her curvy figure, revealing enchanting curves, and the pale skin of her collarbone was completely exposed to the air, followed by her prominent chest.

Her hair, which usually cascaded down her shoulders, now clung wetly to the sides, but Qiao Jing’s indifferent expression, coupled with her beautiful eyes, gave off a cold beauty reminiscent of an ice queen.

Qiao Jing’s graceful figure made it difficult for any man to not have his thoughts run wild, and Zhan Ruiting was no exception.

“Qiao Jing, I’ll give you my coat, don’t catch a cold.”

Seeing Qiao Jing’s drenched appearance, Zhan Ruiting immediately reacted and intended to take off his suit jacket for her to wear.

Suddenly, another male voice interjected between the two.

“You’re neither as tall as me nor as good-looking, your coat would be just like wearing nothing.”

Zhan Qipei said coldly and sarcastically as he strode forward, forcefully separating Zhan Ruiting to the side and took off his own suit jacket to drape over Qiao Jing.

Qiao Jing was his wife, after all, it was not Zhan Ruiting’s place to step in.

The umbrella over Qiao Jing’s head also became the one held by Zhan Qipei.

As she put on the jacket, the scent of the men’s cologne he used enveloped Qiao Jing; she frowned slightly but did not push it away, feeling a bit cold indeed.

“Cousin, you’re wrong to say that, what do you mean I’m not as tall as you? I’m at least nearly the same height as you!”

Zhan Ruiting said defiantly, and seeing Qiao Jing already wearing the jacket, he could only begrudgingly put his own jacket back on and stealthily glared at Zhan Qipei.

After catching Zhan Ruiting’s glance, Zhan Qipei’s lips curled up slightly, and with a large hand, he grabbed Qiao Jing’s tender chin and leaned in to kiss her soft, red lips.

In an instant, the man’s overwhelming presence descended, leaving Qiao Jing stunned for a moment; her eyes locked onto Zhan Qipei’s as the sensation on her lips made her lose her composure.

Due to their height difference, Qiao Jing had to tilt her head back, and Zhan Qipei, out of the corner of his eye, darkened his gaze upon seeing something but suppressed the heat rising within him.

For Zhan Ruiting, this was nothing short of a provocation! His hand holding the umbrella trembled with anger, but facing Zhan Qipei, he still felt somewhat intimidated.

Qiao Jing also furrowed her attractive brows and pushed Zhan Qipei away, “Zhan Qipei, what are you doing?”

“I’m kissing my wife, what’s wrong with that?” The man’s voice carried a bit of a rogue’s charm.

“You—” Qiao Jing raised her hand as if to slap his face.

Zhan Qipei, seeing her reaction, deliberately leaned in closer, making it easier for her to strike.

Staring at the handsome face in front of her, which was shamelessly asking for it, Qiao Jing hesitated, not sure whether to strike or not.

Zhan Qipei saw the hand Qiao Jing had raised stay suspended in the air, his mouth curled in amusement, and he provocatively glanced at Zhan Ruiting.

Zhan Ruiting felt utterly frustrated! But there was nothing he could do. Qiao Jing was now Zhan Qipei’s wife in name, and his sister-in-law as well, he surely couldn’t just go up and snatch her away, could he?

Qiao Jing didn’t continue to entertain the two men, opened the car door, and got in.

“Wife, wait for me,” Zhan Qipei called as he opened the driver’s door and got in.

Then, without giving Zhan Ruiting a chance to react, he stepped on the gas hard and sped away.

By the time Zhan Ruiting came back to his senses, the car had already driven off a long distance.

“Hey!” Zhan Ruiting stamped his foot and sighed.
