Chapter 238: Chapter 230: Borrowing Wine
Qiao Jing replied, “Hmm, the content of this book… it doesn’t matter to you whether you shoot it or not.”
After all, Zhou Fu was her apprentice, he could have just told her directly if he wanted to learn.
But Zhou Fu didn’t see it that way; this was something his master had meticulously researched, and he didn’t want it falling into others’ hands.
The two talked, treating Lou Xinrou as part of the background, forgetting that she was even there.@@novelbin@@
Lou Xinrou was very dissatisfied with being ignored and opened her mouth to say something more.
“Xinrou,” Lou Pinshu interrupted her.
He had watched the whole process from the side; he hadn’t stopped Lou Xinrou previously because he wanted to see Qiao Jing’s reaction to the medical book and his suspicions seemed somewhat confirmed after seeing Zhou Fu.
“Grandfather! Qiao Jing is bullying me!” Lou Xinrou thought Lou Pinshu was backing her up and immediately started to complain.
Zhou Fu’s expression darkened, angrier at Lou Xinrou’s shamelessness.
But what Lou Pinshu said next shocked Lou Xinrou.
“Impolite,” Lou Pinshu reprimanded Lou Xinrou sternly, then turned and apologized to Qiao Jing, “I’m sorry, Miss Qiao. My granddaughter is ignorant; I’ll take her home now.”
Qiao Jing looked at Lou Pinshu somewhat unexpectedly and replied, “Hmm.”
Stunned, Lou Xinrou was led away by Lou Pinshu, and when she came to her senses, she felt incredibly wronged. Her grandfather had never treated her like this from her childhood!
And he had even apologized to Qiao Jing!
It was clearly Qiao Jing who was at fault!
After Lou Xinrou had left, Zhou Fu complained a few words to Qiao Jing.
“Master, how can that Lou Xinrou be so shameless? I’ve never seen anyone like this!”
“Don’t worry about her. Are you interested in the medical book?” Qiao Jing asked, glanced at the time on her phone, frowned, and hadn’t cooked yet.
Zhou Fu wasn’t expecting Qiao Jing to ask him that and his face showed his delight, “Of course I’m interested. I want anything from Master. Are you thinking of giving it to me?”
“No, I was just asking.” Qiao Jing saw the person she was waiting for and put away her phone.
The delight on Zhou Fu’s face immediately disappeared, “I thought you were going to give me one.”
“I’m leaving; you should go back too,” Qiao Jing said as she stood up and walked to the door.
Zhan Qipei quickly followed, “Let’s go home.”
“Hmm, we need to buy some groceries,” Qiao Jing replied.
Zhou Fu stood watching their retreating figures side by side, suddenly feeling like a third wheel.
After dinner, they each returned to their own rooms. Although Zhan Qipei wanted to talk to Qiao Jing, it was already eight o’clock by the time they finished dinner because of the auction.
This was the time Qiao Jing usually took her bath; she picked up her clothes and headed to the bathroom.
Zhan Qipei went back to his room to deal with the work he hadn’t finished that day.
About half an hour later, Zhan Qipei got up and left his room, heading to the kitchen to get a glass of water when he happened to run into Qiao Jing.
Qiao Jing had just come out of the bath, still trailing some steam, her body emitting the enticing scent of shower gel, her black, soft hair resting on her shoulders, and her fair face dotted with a few small water droplets, as if her skin had been soaked through.
She was holding clean clothes in her hand, but those clothes were already half wet, and at this moment, Qiao Jing was only wrapped in a bath towel, which just outlined her figure.
This automatically brought to mind the image of Qiao Jing drenched on the cruise ship in Zhan Qipei’s mind.
Suddenly, Zhan Qipei felt his mouth dry, and a heat at his chest tended to move downward. He cleared his throat twice, a plan forming in his mind, “How did the clothes get wet?”
“I didn’t hold them steady, they fell on the ground.” Qiao Jing’s brows furrowed slightly as she returned to her room with the wet clothes.
Zhan Qipei opened a high cabinet in the kitchen, took out a bottle of red wine from inside, and casually fried two steaks, placing them on a plate.
After placing the steak and red wine on the table, Zhan Qipei knocked on Qiao Jing’s room door, “I fried some steak.”
“We just had dinner not long ago, why did you fry steak?” Qiao Jing opened the door and looked at Zhan Qipei standing at the doorway.
Zhan Qipei noticed she had changed into a set of clean clothes, “Tonight’s dinner was prepared in a hurry, I was worried you didn’t eat enough.”
A sudden whiff of steak aroma drifted from the dining table, prompting Qiao Jing to move her feet towards the table.
She indeed hadn’t eaten much tonight, and wasn’t expecting Zhan Qipei to notice.
The two bottles of red wine were also opened, and each of the tall glasses contained half a glass of wine.
Qiao Jing sat down, “Let’s eat together.” After sitting, she took a sip of red wine right away, but discreetly pinched her brow, quickly relaxing it.
Zhan Qipei noticed this small movement. If that had been Qiao Jing’s favorite wine, she would have had a subconscious reaction, slightly squinting her eyes like a squirrel savoring a delicious pine nut, delicately savoring the flavor in her mouth.
“This wine’s alcohol content is also high, but it’s not the same as last time; I’ll have some more shipped over next time.” Zhan Qipei drank the wine in his glass in one go and began cutting Qiao Jing’s steak for her.
Qiao Jing’s favorite wine was hard to obtain, and Zhan Qipei had already specifically contacted overseas agencies, only recently finding a few bottles among several collectors, yet to be sent over.
She glanced at the wine on the table and said, “Don’t bother, I can cut the steak myself.”
“Okay.” Zhan Qipei verbally agreed, but his actions didn’t stop; he skillfully finished cutting and pushed it towards Qiao Jing.
Qiao Jing didn’t feel much like talking.
Midway through, Zhan Qipei suddenly stood up, returned to his room, and as if covering something up, took out a set of clean clothes and placed them on the table outside the bathroom.
Meanwhile, Qiao Jing thought she heard several sounds of a door lock, but she didn’t delve deeper, focusing instead on savoring the wine in her hand.
“What’s going on?” Qiao Jing was somewhat puzzled about what Zhan Qipei was trying to do.
Zhan Qipei replied, “Just preparing the clothes in advance, I’ll take a shower after eating.”
Qiao Jing didn’t continue to ask; almost an entire bottle of red wine was evenly split between the two.
After that meal, both Qiao Jing and Zhan Qipei felt a bit tipsy.
Zhan Qipei cleaned up the plates, “I’m going to take a shower.”
Qiao Jing hummed a response and also returned to her own room, her thinking slowed down by the effects of the alcohol.
“Knock, knock, knock.” A series of knocking sounds occurred.
Qiao Jing slowly got up and opened the door, seeing Zhan Qipei wearing only a bathrobe, “What’s up?”
A strong smell of alcohol hit her face next, and Qiao Jing was a bit stunned, asking, “Did you drink again?”
“Yeah, I opened another bottle…” As soon as Zhan Qipei’s words fell, he slipped, and his body fell towards Qiao Jing.
What do you think?
