Chapter 242 - 234: Trouble for Qiao Jing

Chapter 242: Chapter 234: Trouble for Qiao Jing

After hearing the lackey’s reply, Liu Xin felt much more satisfied. She spoke purely because she knew this lackey was the biggest gossip in the company.

Given her status, it was inconvenient for her to voice these things, so she chose to manipulate her lackey’s approach, relying on him to spread the news.

By then, everyone in the company would think that Qiao Jing was nothing but a vain showoff.

“It’s nothing. Bring me the documents I couldn’t resolve a few days ago,” Liu Xin said nonchalantly, pretending she didn’t care. In fact, that unfinished work was her own, but with her status as a senior executive, she could claim it was Manager Tang’s unfinished work. Anyway, Qiao Jing, being an outsider, wouldn’t know.

Since she wanted to come back and flirt with President Zhan, dump all that work on Qiao Jing to teach her a lesson.

The lackey’s face still gleamed with gossip. Hearing Liu Xin’s words, he quickly hummed in agreement a few times and walked out of the office.

The lackey had always been willing to follow Liu Xin because she was a supervisor who also gave him some perks from time to time, which proved beneficial.

Qiao Jing was sitting in front of Tang Yan’s computer, watching him mark the unfinished work for her. There were five folders in total.

Inside these five folders were various scattered tasks and documents, but Tang Yan had specially completed 30% of each to make it easier for Qiao Jing.

He didn’t dare to truly abandon his responsibilities by dumping all the work on Qiao Jing. In case she got overwhelmed— not only would his wife complain, President Zhan would probably be even angrier.

Qiao Jing read through all the documents at a remarkable pace, deeply memorizing each one, and began to work on them.

While she was working on the documents inside the first folder, the office door opened, and Qiao Jing glanced briefly at the doorway, then returned her gaze to the screen.

Liu Xin saw Qiao Jing’s indifferent demeanor and thought to herself disdainfully, “Putting on airs.”

She snorted and placed the most difficult document on the desk, feigning sincerity, “This is work Assistant Tang failed to complete. Hurry up and get on with it.”

This document was actually a complex task Liu Xin had specifically sought out, thinking that a novice like Qiao Jing would surely fail to complete any of it.

Liu Xin had deliberately brought it over to trouble Qiao Jing. She set down the documents, ready to watch Qiao Jing fumble through them.

“Are all these from Tang Yan?” Qiao Jing casually glanced at Liu Xin and the thick document, asking.

Liu Xin haughtily raised her chin, assertively saying, “Of course. I want them done by this afternoon.”

She deliberately raised her voice. The office door was left open, so that the employees outside could hear everything being said inside.

The general management office wasn’t very far from the staff area, and with the pantry in the same direction, many employees passed by.

And Liu Xin’s lackey had already spread the rumor that Qiao Jing was trying to seduce Zhan Qipei like wildfire.

So now, a group of employees had already gathered around the doorway, peeking inside.

Qiao Jing lowered her eyes, showing no particular emotion, and took the relatively thick document, casually flipping through it, but in fact, she memorized everything.

After looking it over, Qiao Jing casually put the document aside.

“Aren’t you going to work on this document? At least you should allocate it properly,” Liu Xin’s voice was loud enough for those at the door to hear clearly.

Qiao Jing stopped typing, glanced sideways at Liu Xin, and said, “You’re very noisy.”

These three words made Liu Xin’s face sour, “Noisy? I’m just urging you to finish the work. Start immediately, this needs to be done this afternoon!”

“I’m working on it,” Qiao Jing created a new document.

Liu Xin, as if hearing a ridiculous joke, scoffed, “Are you sure? You just glanced at the document briefly. Are you sure you memorized everything? If there’s an issue with the document, you’ll be responsible!”

The document was long and complex, and she struggled to handle it even with the document in front of her.

Qiao Jing merely glanced briefly, but what could that one glance reveal?

Did she really remember everything? Did she truly think her memory was a scanner?

I’ve never seen someone act so pretentious.

Liu Xin’s deliberately raised voice made sure everyone at the door heard clearly.

They began whispering amongst themselves.

“Did you hear what Liu Xin said? I also saw Qiao Jing glance at the material and then handle it, even though it was quite thick.”

“Just bragging, who can’t do that? I could manage the documents without even looking.”

“She’s really shameless, isn’t she? Desperate to remarry, huh? Running after President Zhan all the way to the company!”

They thought their discussions were quiet, but everything was heard by Qiao Jing.

Upon hearing the last comment, Qiao Jing slightly arched her delicate, misty eyebrows and remained unresponsive.

Following that, Qiao Jing earnestly began processing the document, her pale fingers typing swiftly on the keyboard, creating even a blur that Liu Xin noticed!

Liu Xin’s eyes widened in disbelief as she watched Qiao Jing, convinced she was just typing randomly.

The clattering of the keyboard reached the doorway, and they exchanged looks, questioning if the fast typing indicated that the material really had been memorized.

Noticing Liu Xin had not left, Qiao Jing spoke in a cool tone, “Go out, close the door.”

She did not want anyone to disturb her while she was working.

Liu Xin, acting as if she didn’t hear, shuffled her feet and moved behind Qiao Jing, managing to see the words she typed and opened her mouth in surprise.

She really was processing the documents!

A quick glance revealed she had accurately analyzed several sentences in the material.

“Go out! Don’t make me say it a third time,” Qiao Jing frowned prettily, noticeably irritated as she glanced at Liu Xin.

The authoritative tone of Qiao Jing made Liu Xin feel defiant, scheming a new trick in her mind.

Once Liu Xin left, the sound of typing in the office ceased, and Qiao Jing took a photo of the document and sent it to Tang Yan, “Your job?”

“Not mine! That’s Liu Xin’s, why do you have it?” Tang Yan replied quickly.

Tang Yan’s words confirmed Qiao Jing’s suspicions; she said nothing, “It’s nothing.”

She had been skeptical when Liu Xin handed her the documents, but she had kept silent for Zhan Qipei’s sake.@@novelbin@@

The sound of typing resumed.

Soon, it was lunchtime. Qiao Jing shut down the computer and headed to the company’s cafeteria with her phone in hand.

Along the way, employees looked at Qiao Jing with curious eyes, but no one spoke.

While queueing in the cafeteria, Qiao Jing also attracted everyone’s attention. A little follower squeezed next to her, “Is this Miss Qiao, President Zhan’s ex-wife?”

Qiao Jing just gave the lackey a cold look and remained silent.

“Why are you taking over Assistant Tang’s position? Do you want to get back with President Zhan and remarry him?” the lackey said sarcastically.
