Pregnant After Healing the Alpha

Chapter 272: 262: Qiao Jing is Injured

Chapter 272: Chapter 262: Qiao Jing is Injured

Zhan Qipei halted his steps; the blue folder on the table was conspicuously obvious. He glanced at Qiao Jing in the kitchen.

What could be inside? Research institute materials?

Qiao Jing never brought work home usually; was it because it’s very important this time? Just how important was it?

He hesitated for a while but eventually walked over to the table and flipped it open, only to find various documents from Wonderful Hall.

When Zhan Qipei saw the three words “Wonderful Hall,” the suspicions he had before surged back into his heart.

Previously, after a single phone call from Qiao Jing, an order from Wonderful Hall had landed in his hands, and that was when his doubts about the connection between the two first took root.

...

The rumors had been saying that the big boss of Wonderful Hall was Divine Doctor Jing. Alongside that phone call from Qiao Jing, his conjectures grew even more certain.

Only then did Zhan Qipei pick up the entire folder. He hadn’t wanted to go through it initially, as prying into someone else’s privacy was not right.

But Qiao Jing was his wife, not just someone, so looking at it shouldn’t be a problem.

With that thought, Zhan Qipei started to go through the documents.

They truly were important documents, and they were about Wonderful Hall’s plans to expand their overseas channels.

Such crucial documents had been brought home by Qiao Jing; indeed, his wife was the boss of Wonderful Hall.

No wonder that with a single phone call from her, the order had been transferred to his hands.

She was his wife, after all, accomplished in every role.

Suddenly!

Zhan Qipei saw the name of an overseas corporation.

“SA Overseas Group?”

His expression changed immediately upon seeing the group’s name. He knitted his brows. That was Wu Xirui’s company.

Upon examining the clauses mentioned inside the document carefully, Zhan Qipei immediately understood that the contract was concerning Wonderful Hall’s cooperation in expanding overseas.

As Zhan Qipei was engrossed in the contract, Qiao Jing came out of the kitchen with a plate of food, noticing that he was looking at that contract and documents.

Qiao Jing also saw the stern look on Zhan Qipei’s face and guessed that he was feeling jealous.

Without saying anything, she returned to the kitchen and brought out another plate with sweet and sour ribs, placing it on the dining table.

Zhan Qipei was brought back to his senses by the aroma of the food. Seeing that Qiao Jing was watching him, he pursed his lips and replaced the contract to its original spot.

He hesitated for a moment, wondering whether to ask her or not. If he didn’t ask, would she go into partnership with Wu Xirui?

Just the thought of Qiao Jing sitting together and discussing work with Wu Xirui darkened Zhan Qipei’s expression by degrees. It can’t be like this!

“Are you going to partner with Wu Xirui?”

Zhan Qipei still asked tentatively.

Qiao Jing lifted her gaze to Zhan Qipei, her face expressionless, “Do you hope that I partner with him?”

Zhan Qipei’s dark eyes gleamed with anticipation as he stared at Qiao Jing.

“Can my hopes take precedence? If I prefer that you don’t partner with him, will you not do so?”

Qiao Jing lowered her eyelids, concealing her emotions, and after a moment, she replied to Zhan Qipei.

“I can take your words into consideration.”

Zhan Qipei moved closer to Qiao Jing, speaking cautiously, “I don’t want you to partner with him.”

Having said that, he kept his gaze fixed on Qiao Jing’s face, observing her expression.

Qiao Jing picked up on the careful tone in his voice, feeling that at that moment, Zhan Qipei seemed like a large, dispirited dog; if she were to refuse him, his ears would droop.

But she herself was also hesitating.

She had once attempted to use her connections to push Wonderful Hall’s expansion overseas, but since it’s not in the empire, the process encountered resistance.

Late due to certain reasons, she had put the plan on hold, letting it develop naturally.

However, Wu Xirui’s SA Overseas Group was thriving abroad. If they were to cooperate, the pace of Wonderful Hall’s overseas development could accelerate significantly.

All at once, the memory flooded Qiao Jing’s mind of an earthquake where Zhan Qipei had shielded her with his body, an image she could never erase.

Qiao Jing gave Zhan Qipei an answer.

“My relationship with Wu Xirui is just that of an ordinary doctor and patient, and any collaboration with him would also only be a normal business relationship,”

She explained to Zhan Qipei, not wanting to make him jealous over the cooperation—his jealousy was always troublesome.

Zhan Qipei could hear the intent behind Qiao Jing’s words; she was clarifying her relationship with Wu Xirui.

But it also implied that Qiao Jing was planning to collaborate with Wu Xirui.

This made Zhan Qipei happy that Qiao Jing was explaining herself but somewhat unhappy about her collaboration with Wu Xirui.

As her husband, however, he needed to consider her perspective; Zhan Qipei thought about it from her angle and his irritation promptly dissipated.

“Fine, I won’t interfere. But, I have a question for you, which I hope you can answer truthfully,” he said.

Qiao Jing nodded, “Go ahead.”

Zhan Qipei struggled internally for a while before voicing his question.

“Are you the big boss of Wonderful Hall?”

After saying this, Zhan Qipei also felt nervous. Would she tell him the truth or keep hiding it?

A fleeting look of astonishment crossed Qiao Jing’s face; she had an inkling of what was coming. Zhan Qipei must have seen the contract and information and probably guessed her identity already.

She pursed her lips and finally nodded slightly.

Zhan Qipei was even more delighted. Whether it was Professor Qiao, the foremost agricultural expert, Divine Doctor Jing with her exquisite medical skills, or the big boss behind Wonderful Hall,

they all shared one trait: they didn’t like being in the public eye.

But Qiao Jing had been honest with him about all these identities, which proved she saw him differently than she did others.

After clearing the air with Zhan Qipei, Qiao Jing returned to the kitchen to finish the dish she had been working on.

Zhan Qipei could no longer focus on his unfinished work and followed Qiao Jing into the kitchen.

“I’ll help.”

Qiao Jing hummed in response, her head bowed as she sliced the tomatoes on the cutting board, though her mind was still on the previous conversation.

Despite her decision to work with Wu Xirui, she couldn’t quite shake a sense of discomfort.

Could it be that her actions weren’t so considerate towards Zhan Qipei? After all, she was now his wife, yet she had made a choice contrary to what he would have wanted.

All of a sudden! A sharp pain shot through her fingertips.

“Hiss.”

Qiao Jing reflexively withdrew her hand and saw that the tip of her index finger had started to ooze beads of blood, with little droplets blossoming on the cutting board.

Zhan Qipei heard the noise from Qiao Jing’s direction and turned to look. His heart seemed to skip a beat upon seeing the bleeding hand!

He immediately walked up to Qiao Jing, grabbed her slender wrist, and without hesitation, took the injured finger into his mouth.

By the time Qiao Jing realized what was happening, her wounded finger was already in Zhan Qipei’s mouth, and her heartbeat sped up a little.

She felt a warm sensation on her fingertip and instinctively curled it.

“There’s no need for this trouble.”

As Qiao Jing’s finger retracted, she felt his tongue curl around her fingertip, wrapping tightly around the wound, preventing the blood from flowing out.

This made Qiao Jing momentarily forget to pull her hand away.

Feeling that he was not drawing back anymore, the soft tongue began to gently lick the wound, swallowing the beads of blood one by one.

Only when the fingertip stopped bleeding did Zhan Qipei release her hand, as if he had let out a sigh of relief.@@novelbin@@

“It’s not bleeding anymore, it’s okay now.”

Qiao Jing looked down at her fingertip, then raised her eyes to Zhan Qipei.

She could have just washed the blood off under the faucet and put on a bandage.

But Zhan Qipei’s series of actions were instinctual; he only wanted to staunch her bleeding instantly.
