Pregnant After Healing the Alpha

Chapter 289: 279: Qiao Jing is My Real Sister

Chapter 289: Chapter 279: Qiao Jing is My Real Sister

“I’m Xiuxiang’s good friend who grew up with her at the orphanage, Qiao Jing,” Qiao Jing said with an aloof face that revealed no emotion whatsoever.

Jiang Ning sneered and her gaze toward Qiao Jing became even more disdainful and contemptuous. She had thought she was facing a delicate lady raised in a greenhouse, like a tender flower, only to find out she was an orphan raised in an orphanage!

Her tone became sharp and harsh.

“What are you pestering my sister for?”

Qiao Jing, expressionless, replied, “She said she’s not going back with you.”

Jiang Ning rolled her eyes at Qiao Jing.

...

“She just hasn’t thought it through, and besides, what’s it to you?”

She turned to speak to Lin Xiuxiang, but her eyes kept darting towards Qiao Jing.

The words that followed were meant not only for Lin Xiuxiang but also for Qiao Jing to hear.

“You are now a wealthy heiress too; in the future, don’t hang out with these poor people. It’s obvious she has no class. Why does she interrupt when we sisters are talking? She really thinks she’s somebody.”

Qiao Jing glanced indifferently at Jiang Ning, not bothering to speak. She didn’t take these words to heart.

Lin Xiuxiang, protected behind her, frowned tightly. Jiang Ning’s words were too offensive, and even as her real sister, she shouldn’t speak to Qiao Jing like that.

Xiuxiang was well aware of how good Qiao Jing had been to her, treating her like a real sister, incomparably better than this so-called biological sister!

She absolutely wouldn’t allow anyone to insult Qiao Jing!

Just then,

Jiang Ning glared at Qiao Jing maliciously and tried to take Lin Xiuxiang away, bypassing her.

Qiao Jing stood firm like a solid wall of flesh, blocking Jiang Ning at every turn, preventing her from approaching Lin Xiuxiang.

Jiang Ning, frustrated, pushed at Qiao Jing, trying to shove her away, while uttering all sorts of nasty words.

“Are you some kind of pauper who can’t understand human language? Lin Xiuxiang and I are blood sisters. Not only did you interrupt our conversation, but you also won’t let me take her home?”

“Move aside quickly, keep your distance. Don’t let that stench of poverty rub off on me.”

Qiao Jing slightly sidestepped, causing Jiang Ning to lunge at empty air.

Jiang Ning was going too far!

Lin Xiuxiang took a step forward, standing shoulder to shoulder with Qiao Jing, and shouted at Jiang Ning, “You have no right to talk about Qiao Qiao!”

Qiao Jing quickly responded, showing a faint smile, and a warm current flowed once again into her heart.

But Jiang Ning was far from calm, looking at Lin Xiuxiang with a face full of shock.

“What do you mean by that? I’m your real sister, okay? Why are you taking the side of an outsider? Also, make it clear, I’m here to take you home, it’s her who’s been stopping me, understand?!”

Chen Jingling, who had been silent up until now, also spoke up in support of Jiang Ning.

“Xiuxiang, she’s your sister. How can you take the side of an outsider?”

Qiao Jing didn’t feel like saying anything to these two thick-skinned people, nor did she want to interrupt what Lin Xiuxiang was saying.

At this moment, it was certain Xiuxiang wanted to say more.

Lin Xiuxiang faced Jiang Ning and Chen Jingling calmly and composedly.

“Qiao Qiao is my best friend. When I was at my lowest, she was the one who helped me. There was a time when I had a high fever of forty degrees, and for three full days, the fever didn’t subside. It was Qiao Qiao who stayed by my side day and night. What about you?”

Jiang Ning, when questioned, looked away, but she had reasons to refute Lin Xiuxiang, murmuring discontentedly.

“I didn’t know about any of this.”

Lin Xiuxiang wasn’t phased by Jiang Ning’s response, her eyes slightly reddening, her voice trembling ever so slightly as she spoke.

“You gave birth to a brother and abandoned me for over twenty years. Now you just want to swoop in and take me away whenever you please? And you even dare to insult my friend?”

“What are you to me? What right do you have to take me away or insult my friend? Make it clear, it was the orphanage that raised me. It was she who grew up with me.”

Xiuxiang paused, took a deep breath to control her emotions, and spoke slowly but firmly.

“Not you.”

Jiang Ning was extremely angered by Xiuxiang’s words. She had never seen someone so foolish and retorted displeasedly.

“But I am your biological sister, a sister related by blood. She’s just a stranger, with no blood relation to you whatsoever.”

Xiuxiang, with a steadfast gaze, looked directly at Jiang Ning, her words resonating with conviction.

“In my eyes, Qiao Qiao is my real sister. Go ahead, leave. I’m not going back with you. I have a good life here.”

Jiang Ning clenched her fists tightly and took several deep breaths to calm down before questioning Xiuxiang again.

“I’ll give you one last chance. Are you coming or not?”

Her sister hadn’t even returned home, yet she was already turning her back on them. What a burden to bring home! Wouldn’t it be like carrying a heavy load?

Seeing Xiuxiang like this, it was very likely that she would become an ingrate in the future. Why on earth did her parents insist on taking her back?!

Xiuxiang turned her back, not bothering with Jiang Ning anymore, and walked away without looking back, holding Qiao Jing’s hand.

“Qiao Qiao, don’t leave tonight. How about I cook you something delicious? You’ve just been discharged from the hospital. I’ll make you a black chicken soup to nourish your body.”

Qiao Jing smiled and nodded his head, saying affectionately, “I’ll listen to you.”

The two entered the room and closed the door.

Jiang Ning stared at the tightly shut door, jumping up and down in frustration, pointing to the room, then turning to speak to Chen Jingling next to her.

“Husband, do you see what she’s doing? It’s infuriating! I kindly offered to take her home and she doesn’t appreciate it. She actually wants to spend her whole life here as a poor person!”

Chen Jingling was also dissatisfied with Xiuxiang’s behavior and walked outside with Jiang Ning.

“She has decided to stay here, so let her. She chose to be a poor person. Why bother convincing her? Let’s go take care of business first.”

Jiang Ning huffed coldly and followed Chen Jingling out.

She thought Xiuxiang was just too used to being poor, doomed to rot in that shabby orphanage forever. When there was a better life waiting for her at home, she refused to return?

Well, she better not regret it later and beg to be taken home!

Xiuxiang brought out the black chicken soup she had prepared and placed it on the table.

“I’d planned to cook it and bring it to you, but since you came over first, there’s no need for me to deliver it.”

Qiao Jing served Xiuxiang a bowl of soup and pushed it in front of her.

“You’re the chef, you’ve worked hard. You drink first.”

Xiuxiang smiled sheepishly and served herself a bowl.

“Who am I to be called a chef? If only my cooking was half as delicious as yours.”

The two finished their lunch in a pleasant atmosphere, tacitly avoiding the topic of the earlier incident.

Having made their decision, that matter was now in the past.

Qiao Jing thought it over. Although Xiuxiang didn’t say it, she must still be concerned about the Jiang Ning issue.

She decided to take Xiuxiang out for a stroll, to clear her mind.

“Let’s go to the mall? And maybe stop by the snack street for some treats.”
