Chapter 822: Chapter 822: Favoritism_1
Li Hongyuan’s favoritism towards Lingzi was clear as day.
Out of his three children, Li Tingqian, Wenzan, and Lingzi, Li Hongyuan looked fondly upon Li Tingqian, favored and even spoiled Lingzi, and was overly strict with Wenzan.
Maybe this could be explained as a father’s higher expectations for his son, but his excessive indulgence towards Lingzi, in Jiang Ning’s eyes, had already gone too far.
He carefully selected a precious little red horse for Lingzi, but did not give one to Xiaoqian and Wenzan.
Xiaoqian’s horse was one he had picked out for himself at the Imperial Horse Stable.
Wenzan did not have a horse of his own.
Although Wenzan was young and didn’t necessarily need his own horse, when compared with his siblings of the same age, Lingzi had a horse while he didn’t.
Was this okay?
Either everyone gets one, or nobody does.
Jiang Ning felt strongly against Li Hongyuan’s actions, which was why she slightly favored Wenzan in daily life, finding him pitiful.
She knew it was wrong, as a mother, she should treat both her children equally.
But every time she saw Li Hongyuan treating Lingzi like a precious gem, frequently ignoring Wenzan, she felt rather uncomfortable and couldn’t help but want to be kind to Wenzan.
She believed that all of this was Li Hongyuan’s fault.
Hence, she just rolled her eyes and turned her gaze elsewhere.
Although Li Hongyuan’s attention was mostly on Lingzi, he still noticed her reaction. He merely snorted, not saying anything.
“Is Lingzi not afraid anymore?” He held Lingzi and turned back to leave.
Lingzi wrapped her arms around her father’s neck and said in a baby voice, “Not scared at all. It was Concubine Ya who saved Lingzi. Mother said that Concubine Ya is injured. But grandfather Emperor won’t let Lingzi go to the Starlight Palace to visit Concubine Ya.”
Li Hongyuan laughed, “Concubine Ya needs the Imperial Physician to treat her right now. Once she’s better, Lingzi can go and visit her.”
“Mm!”
Lingzi was already pondering in her heart, thinking about what nice things to bring to Concubine Ya.
She must bring the Cloud Cakes, those were her favorites, Concubine Ya would surely like them too. And the wooden horse that could move by itself, which her Third Uncle gifted her, Concubine Ya would definitely adore it too.
Even though she was somewhat unwilling to part with it, Concubine Ya was injured and in need of the comfort it could bring.
As Lingzi was mulling over all these, she gradually felt sleepy and unknowingly fell asleep in her father’s arms.
Li Hongyuan noticed that she was perfectly still and stopped, showing her to Jiang Ning.
Jiang Ning, with her hands in her sleeves, said, “She fell asleep.”
Li Hongyuan ordered Li Quan to fetch a little cloak to cover Lingzi, holding her himself instead of handing her to the nanny, and slowly went towards the East Palace.
It seemed like he was worried that walking too quickly would jostle her.
One hand cradling Lingzi, the other shielding her back, gently patting. He glanced at Jiang Ning from the corner of his eyes, seeing her hands in her sleeves, looking nonchalant, and asked, “What happened just now?”
“Didn’t you already know? Your dear father, the Emperor, insisted on letting Lingzi ride a horse. Lingzi can’t ride, so she fell.”
“I know that…”
“Why are you asking if you know?” Jiang Ning was disgruntled, “What have all of you pampered Lingzi into? This child, I can tell, sooner or later she will turn out to be like Princess Ling’an, rude, willful and reckless!”
“Lingzi won’t turn out like that, even if she does, it’s still fine.”
“Are these the words of a father?”
