He decided to let her vent.

When Princess Ling’an exhausted herself and sat amongst the scattered petals and broken leaves, panting heavily, Jiang Ning gently asked her, “Are you feeling better now, Princess?”

“Hmph!”

Princess Ling’an thought she was trying to appease her, and snorted arrogantly. “The Crown Prince didn’t support me, and your dog servants here keep bullying me. I’m not staying here anymore! I’m going home to my father to seek justice!”

Gufeng brought over another chair, and Jiang Ning sat down, adjusting her skirt. “Once you’ve come here, Princess, you can’t leave.”

“Why not? I come and go from the Imperial Palace as I please! You think you can stop me?”

“Before, you were Princess Ling’an. But today, you are a servant of the East Palace. If I let you run wild, wouldn’t it be a dereliction of my duties as the Princess Consort?”

“Haha, I knew it! Your act was all a facade! None of you in the Jiang Family are any good! I almost got fooled by you!” Princess Ling’an sneered. “Today, I’m leaving. Let’s see who dares to stop me!”

With that, she strode towards the exit.

“Gufeng, tie her up.”

“Yes!” Gufeng, who was already eager for action, took off at a sprint and, in no time at all, had Princess Ling’an securely bound.

Jiang Ning asked Huang Ying, “What did the person next to the Crown Prince say earlier?”

Huang Ying hastily answered, “Nanny Li said if Princess Ling’an resists discipline, she must face the palace regulations.”

“Since it is a command from the Crown Prince, I have no choice but to obey.” Jiang Ning stood up. “Princess, don’t blame me, I didn’t want to upset you. She shook her head, a look of regret on her face, and returned to her room.

Princess Ling’an froze, shouting after her retreating figure. “What are you going to do to me?”

Jiang Ning waved her hand dismissively without turning back.

Gufeng cheerfully explained, “Well, of course, we’re going to spank her. You’ve been to the palace many times, and you must be familiar with this, right, Princess?”

Of course, Princess Ling’an was familiar.

But she had only ever watched others get punished – she had never experienced it herself.

Gufeng excitedly found a wide bench, forced her to lay on it, and said. “Usually, those being punished are supposed to strip down, but you are still a princess, so we’ll spare you the embarrassment and spank you on top of your clothes.”

Two young eunuchs each held a wooden panel, positioning themselves on either side, ready for action.

The panels were thick and heavy, made from solid wood. A normal woman would take at least a few months to recover after three strikes. Although Princess Ling’an was more robust and spirited than most noble ladies, she was still pampered and had never suffered even the slightest pain.

Upon realizing that things were getting serious, her defiant anger turned into fear.

“If you dare hit me, you’re all finished!”

“Let me go, and I can pretend this never happened!”

“I can forget the wrongdoings of today!”

“In return, I will ensure you’re richly rewarded!”

“Let go of me!”

“Boo hoo hoo hoo!”

From threats to bribery to emotional breakdown, Princess Ling’an transitioned very quickly.
