Chapter 301 Peekaboo {Gift Bonus Chapter}
If there were an award for the most hateful guy at this year's auction, that award would undoubtedly go to Kent, the brat who was utterly detestable to everyone.
His tendency to jump into bidding wars only to end up buying items at overpriced rates was something everyone hated him for.
However, if there was something many hated more than Kent's actions, it was the idea of compromise during a bidding war. There is no such thing as compromise in a bidding war.
The war exists to ensure that only the richest emerge victorious in the end.
So when the three blacksmiths came to an agreement to buy the skull for 12 billion, people were furious.
They wanted to see a good fight, but the three chose to end it before it could escalate into something fiercer.
That was something they couldn't accept lying down.
But then, Kent jumped in, and everything turned chaotic.
The battle that was nearly over was suddenly reignited, this time by a brat who just didn't know how to stay away from trouble.
This move, however, won him some fans, as smiles now replaced the frowns on everyone's faces. The brat had jumped in, and the three blacksmiths would have to rethink their strategy.
"What do you two think? Should we band together and take this from him? With the three of us combined, there's no way he can outbid us," Metal Saint Andrew said, clenching his fist.
His team of three Root Great Sages hadn't returned when he sent them to retrieve the brat and the meteorite last night, so he was already furious with him.
"Let's do that. With the three of us, he can't challenge us," Metal Saint Rocky said, and Adolf seconded his words.
"22 billion," Metal Saint Andrew declared, now making it three against one.
"Gentlemen, I don't want to sound rude, but even if there were ten of you, this skull will be mine. So, just a heads-up, give up now, and perhaps tomorrow I'll let you have something good," Kent said.
"Cut it out, brat. Since you don't know how to show respect to your seniors, then be prepared for a good fight," Metal Saint Rocky snapped.
"This isn't about me being ungrateful. This is about me seeing value in something and buying it.
Also, this is an auction house, so instead of making it sound like I owe you a debt, why don't you take my advice and drop out while you still can?
Of course, I don't mind deciding for you. As a wise man once said, 'I can do this all day,'" Kent replied.
"30 billion," Kent announced, causing many to gasp.
"Like I said, I can do this all day. So ask yourselves, can you do the same?"
"Shut up, brat!"
"35 billion," Metal Saint Andrew shouted.
"45 billion," Kent said.

"50 billion," Metal Saint Andrew wasn't backing down now. If this were just him, he would have backed down already.
But there were three of them, and like Kent, they all wanted the skull. They are blacksmiths, and this skill is like a treasure they cannot ignore.
So they want to buy and share. That way, they will each benefit.
The only downside here was that Kent would not share the skull with them simply because of what they did yesterday when he took the skull from him.
He needed it for something important, perhaps more important than what they needed it for, so they could not come to a compromise with him.
But even if they did, Kent wouldn't form such an alliance with people who had tried to kill him and his ladies.
"Hmm, this is funny... but I like funny."
"60 billion," Kent raised the bid by ten billion, making it 60 billion, but the three blacksmiths still didn't want to back down.
"65 billion."
"Well, I like to play, but I only play with ladies. So, since you seniors are big, bearded men, we can end the play here. I hope tomorrow you get lucky.
I really do, because I will be coming tomorrow too. And trust me, if I find something I want, I won't hesitate to go all in from the start."
"100 billion," Kent raised the bid, and even Alina took a step back.
"Did he just bid 100 billion?" someone asked, trying to make sense of what had just happened. They might have heard wrong.
The bid was in the hundreds of billions, and from the look on everyone's faces, it was clear that this wasn't something they had expected on the second day of the auction.
It was only the second day. Damn it, why would the price rise to such a level so early?
The faces of the three blacksmiths turned ashen when they heard Kent's bid. It was a hundred billion, and they didn't have a budget for that—not when the heaven-shattering items were yet to be sold.
Did they really want to spend that much on the second day?
Tomorrow would be when all the powerful and influential would arrive. Did they really want to spend all their money today when tomorrow would bring a battle that could break friendships and shatter relationships?
"The gentleman in VIP room 13 bid 100 billion. Are there any more bids?" Alina asked, smiling. Her man had made her first-ever hosting of the annual auction a success.
This was something that filled her with joy.
She waited for a minute, but nobody threw in any more bids.
"The Metal-Skinned Storm Lion Skull is sold to the gentleman in VIP room 13 for 100 billion spirit stones."
Kent won the bid, and the greedy ones already started plotting again. They still haven't learned their lessons.
The sudden turn of events took everyone aback.
But then Metal Saint Rocky spoke, and Kent's reply wiped their minds immediately.
"Brat, are you sure it's wise to anger us? The auction house can protect you while you are inside, but what happens when you are out of here?" he spoke in an angry tone.
Kent smiled, which turned into mocking laughter.
"Yesterday, after the auction, I had a few mice try to steal my fish. But when the day broke today, I had to dispose of those dead mice.
Though I wouldn't advise you to send more mice, you can take it upon yourself and pay me a visit personally.
I promise you, tomorrow, you won't be here bidding for any new items, for you won't live long enough to tell the tale.
A wise man once said, 'When he is handsome and surrounded by beautiful ladies, never try to intimidate him. You will never know what he is hiding in his pants... ahem... his arsenal.'
So take my advice and peekaboo."
What do you think?
