Chapter 2981: To the Academy
Ning Shu also wanted to go to the academy to gather information, hoping to find another way to dissolve the contract.
The method of contracting spirit beasts was something humans invented to enslave them.
But this method was protected by the laws of the heavens and earth.
The carriage swayed gently as it made its way to the academy.
This academy was dedicated to training powerful individuals. It accepted nobles, royals, and even commoners. As long as someone had enough talent, they could join.
Many aristocratic families also scouted talented students at the academy.
The academy’s unshakable position meant it clearly had powerful backing.
Ning Shu, however, was only interested in the academy’s library.
She was a bit afraid of confronting the small orb head-on now. The pain was really unbearable.
She couldn’t help but wonder whether she could complete this task at all.She was, after all, attempting to defy the ordinances of this world.
Just thinking about trying to get free from the power of an ordinance filled Ning Shu with despair.
Leaning against the carriage wall, Ning Shu swayed along with its movements.
Yu Liuli glanced at her. “You’ve been looking exhausted lately. I haven’t even asked you to do anything. What’s wrong with you?”
Ning Shu replied, “It’s because of the punishment you gave me last time. It damaged my soul. I still haven’t recovered.”
“Is it really that bad?” Yu Liuli asked skeptically.
“You wouldn’t understand since you haven’t experienced it,” Ning Shu snapped, her tone sharp. Someday, she’d make sure Yu Liuli tasted the agony of having her soul torn apart.
Yu Liuli said, “You think I wanted to punish you? It’s because you didn’t behave.”
Ning Shu let out a cold laugh, closed her eyes, and stopped talking.
The carriage swayed as it arrived at the academy gates.
Yu Liuli lightly kicked Ning Shu with her foot before stepping out of the carriage.
Ning Shu opened her eyes, got out, and stretched.
There was a long line of people at the academy entrance.
Yu Linglong walked over and gently said, “Sixth Sister, let me take you to register.”
Yu Liuli flatly refused, “No need.”
Did they think she didn’t know how to register? She was a top-notch special agent—there was nothing she couldn’t do.
Ning Shu stood still, watching as Yu Liuli went to register on her own.
Yu Linglong turned to Ning Shu and asked, “Sixth Sister hasn’t been making things difficult for you, has she?”
With a smile, Ning Shu replied, “Little girl, you’ve been playing dirty.”
Yu Linglong pressed her lips together. “I—”
“A little cleverness is fine, but using dirty tricks against others isn’t right. I could crush you with just one finger. Don’t try to outsmart people stronger than you.”
“If Yu Liuli saw me kill you, she’d probably be thrilled,” Ning Shu said casually.
Yu Linglong’s expression changed slightly. “I never intended to scheme against anyone.”
“Alright, I wasn’t seriously planning to kill you either.” Killing her would only make Yu Liuli happy.
“Thank you, Sir.”
Yu Linglong didn’t dare say more to Ning Shu.
Yu Liuli walked over with a sour expression, holding two wooden tablets, and handed one to Ning Shu.
“This is the admission token Grandfather prepared for you.”
Ning Shu flipped the token over in her hands, noting the words “Kong Lin” engraved on it. “Your grandfather is quite thoughtful.”
At least he didn’t ask her to turn into a peacock, unlike how Yu Liuli had demanded earlier.
“Grandfather just sees your strength and wants to recruit you,” Yu Liuli scoffed, her tone contemptful.
“But I’m happy about it,” Ning Shu replied.
What do you think?
