Chapter 2983: Aiming to Become a Master Alchemist
Yu Liuli and Ning Shu entered the academy together. Yu Liuli busied herself with classes and refining her skills.
She also enrolled in the alchemy division, aiming to become a master alchemist.
One day, she would be able to craft powerful pills with ease!
Meanwhile, Ning Shu was fixated on gaining access to the academy’s library.
She wanted to research solutions to her contract, but the library usually wasn’t open year-round. It would be quite a while until it was open to visitors.
Ning Shu had no choice but to wait until it accepted visitors before she could go in and research information about the contract.
Deep down, Ning Shu knew the library might not hold the answers she sought. Ultimately, her freedom lay in Yu Liuli’s hands.
Either Yu Liuli had to break the contract, or she’d have to somehow break the contract herself.
For now, Ning Shu continued to put her all into cultivating, as well as continuing to battle the small orb in her mind.
To be honest, she was a bit traumatized by this orb. The pain of her soul being shredded was seriously unbearable. But Ning Shu had no choice—she had to keep colliding headfirst with it, even if it led nowhere.
She couldn’t help but feel like she was the foolish man from the fables, trying to move the mountains.
But at least the old man made progress, moving his mountains little by little. Her efforts, however, yielded nothing—no results, no rewards.
And on top of that, it was so painful!
Her soul was likely in shambles after all the torment she had put it through.
While Ning Shu languished every day, looking utterly drained as if she’d overindulged herself, Yu Liuli’s days at the academy were indulgent and carefree.
She’d become the final disciple of the academy’s most renowned alchemy master.
This teacher was known for refusing to take any disciples. His alchemy skills were widely acclaimed, but he had vowed to never take any disciples.
Many hopefuls had met with rejection, but upon seeing Yu Liuli, he believed she possessed exceptional talent and became insistent on taking her as a student.
However, Yu Liuli didn’t seem to respect this teacher in the slightest, coldly stating, “I don’t need a teacher. What qualifies you to teach me?”
Ironically, this defiant attitude endeared her even more to the teacher, who tirelessly tried to convince her to accept him as her mentor.
This teacher was also fiercely protective. If anyone dared to bully Yu Liuli in the academy, he would ensure they regretted it.
Thus, Yu Liuli gained yet another strong ally.
Alchemists were highly sought after since they provided essential support. The pills they crafted did everything ranging from healing injuries to enhancing cultivation.
Few dared to offend an alchemist.
The alchemy master taught Yu Liuli everything he knew, eventually earning a reluctant “master” from her, though she typically just called him “old man.”
Yu Liuli participated in the academy’s competitions, wiping away her previous label of being useless trash and gaining the reputation of a genius.
Radiant and dazzling, she attracted countless admirers.
What annoyed Ning Shu the most was that although Yu Liuli was more than capable of defeating these baby students, she always dragged Ning Shu onto the stage.
As if she were some kind of sideshow clown.
It wasn’t even a life-or-death situation. She just wanted to step on Ning Shu’s back and show off by flying into the air.
Whenever her opponent summoned their contracted beast, a formidable one at that, Yu Liuli simply said, “You think you’re the only one with a contracted beast?”
Yu Liuli reveled in crushing others where they thought they excelled.
If someone had a divine weapon, she’d pull out an even stronger one. If someone could refine a certain pill, she’d make a superior version.
If they had a divine beast, she’d flaunt her collection of many.
What do you think?
