The Awakening
Chapter One: "The Awakening"
Dawn's eyes fluttered open, his gaze met with darkness. He lay on a narrow, makeshift bed, surrounded by the eerie silence of the mine. His mind was shrouded in fog, with only one thing clear: his name. Dawn.
As he sat up, his head spun, and his muscles ached. He rubbed his temples, trying to remember anything beyond his name. But there was nothing. No memories, no family, no past.
Dawn swung his legs over the side of the bed, his feet dangling in the air. He wore a simple tunic and pants, made of coarse material. A small, leather pouch hung from his belt, containing a few gold coins and a water skin.
He stood, his movements slow and deliberate. The air was thick with the smell of damp earth and decay. Flickering torches cast eerie shadows on the walls.
Dawn took a deep breath, trying to shake off the feeling of unease. He began to explore the mine, his footsteps echoing off the walls. He stumbled upon a group of miners, their faces weary, their eyes sunken.
One of them approached him, a gruff-looking man with a thick beard. "You're the new one, huh? Welcome to your new home, kid."
Dawn opened his mouth to speak, but only one word came out: "Dawn."
The miner chuckled. "Well, Dawn, you're in luck. You get to start your first shift today."
As Dawn followed the miner, he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. He felt... different. Stronger. Faster.
