His Spirit Dealer class could create spirits out of dead living beings because Spirit Animation was easiest to do on living beings like humanoids and monsters. Living beings have solid information and memories, so Spirit Animation could birth a soul from the target's soulful, vibrant memories with abundant information about their experience.
As such, that class had the power to create solid items with powers, as well as Spirit Kodoku which resulted in a 'living' Spirit Wraith with a pseudo-soul.
