Chapter 141 141: Before the Auction
The following day.
***
Rael got up from the bed, stretching his arms as a fuzzy feeling swirled around in his chest.
Last night, they had a blast watching a dozen movies, and, of course, the best part was the popcorn.
She practically loved popcorn, and each time she was finished, she asked for more.
He felt like they had gotten much closer, but still, there was this small barrier blocking their relationship from progressing, he just didn't know what.
Nonetheless, their little unplanned date went by without a hitch, and in the end, they went to sleep in separate rooms.
They were husband and wife, but Rael felt like they weren't on that kind of level yet, so he didn't rush things.
For all he knew, rushing would only make her hate him, and he obviously didn't want that.
Therefore, she was currently sleeping in the room opposite his.
On a massive bean bag at that... why did it cost me 50,000 Trell? Rael pondered, then got into the shower, washed up, and put on his clothes.
Today would be a busy day, mainly because he wanted to start the auction early.
But that wasn't all, since there were two pop-ups he had yet to fully make out.
<Congratulations! Your active dungeons have produced: +2,313,870 Trell>
<Premium Greed: Would you like to claim yesterday's earnings? Yes/No>
Rael stared at the second pop-up, and without wasting any more time, pressed "Yes."
<Ding!>
<+42,525,099 Trell>
<+3,699,953 Experience>
<Level: 184 → 193>
<+19,400 Trell Bonus>
Holy fuck? Rael straightened his back.
Just like that, he got so much experience and money. However, he knew yesterday was an exception.
The players were running around, buying items and completing quests.
It was a cashback perk.
Literally, if he were to sell items to the players, he'd get a portion of the money back. Clearly, there wasn't any set limit.
The upcoming auction especially...
Fuck, I'm going to be super rich after this, aren't I? Rael snickered as he left his room and headed outside.
He didn't bother waking Zafira since she needed some rest. After all, working on her family's files for half the day was pretty taxing, even if she had a bunch of help.
So he simply headed up to the throne room, and out of it.
It was still early morning, so he didn't need to worry about Evelyn's duties, as Zafira would deal with them.
As for Aria...
"I really hope you didn't stay here all night," Rael said with a sigh.
She was just standing there outside of the throne room, reading a notebook.
They were her notes, ones she had taken of him.
Unlike last time, the content was a bit different.
Still hot, cocky, benevolent (sometimes).
She quickly hid the notebook and nodded at him.
"I usually arrive here at this hour, so I only had to wait 6 or so minutes. I'm surprised you're up early. Last time you woke up in the middle of the day," Aria remarked.
"Well, last time I was a bit tired, so I slept longer," Rael replied with a shrug.
Nonetheless, he decided to change the topic. "Anyways, are you good with numbers?"
"Numbers? I suppose. I was trained by a professional squire once," Aria said with a smug look.
Rael nodded, sharing an equally smug look. "Excellent, you'll be the host."
Her brows twitched. "A host for what?"
"I'll be opening an auction, and you're going to be the one responsible for selling the stuff," Rael stated, watching as her expression faltered by the second.
"Why—" She took a deep breath, calming herself. "Okay. I'll be a host, however, I expect a share of the revenue."
"How's 10 million Trell up front? In turn, that's all you're getting paid," Rael asked, causing her eyes to widen.
Aria seemed hesitant, however, the offer of 10 million was simply too lucrative to pass up.
"10 million? Deal." She accepted, and immediately extended her hand, waiting for him to send the offer.
And soon, he did.
<Payment Sent: 10,000,000 Trell.>
<The recipient has 5 minutes to accept or deny your payment.>
<Confirmed.>
<Balance Updated: -10,000,000 Trell | New Balance: 159,681,251 Trell>
"Pleasure doing business with you, Rael," Aria said confidently.
However, Rael simply burst out laughing.
"Pfftt... hahaha, yeah, you're definitely in need of some social guidance," he commented, patting her on the head. "Rule number 1 of bargaining: know what you're bargaining for."
"Huh...?" Aria trailed off, her eyes widening in realization. "Y-You didn't..."
"It's your own fault for trusting me. For someone who's supposedly the eldest sibling, you're pretty bad at stuff having to do with money." Rael shrugged. "You can't back out of it now though, so come with me, I'll show you to the venue."
Aria's expression turned lifeless as she slowly trailed behind him.
In the meantime, he went outside of the palace and into the streets of Celestara.
There were a couple dozen buildings Zafira had owned, and a single one was an abandoned theater.
He insisted on taking it off her hands for the time being, and during the night, he stationed a couple of his constructs, and Sweepus Prime to clean it up.
And when he finally arrived, he was met face to face with his construct, Xavier.
"Rael, I believe I shouldn't have been driving without a driver's license."
"It's fine as long as no one saw you," Rael replied teasingly.
I guess he inherited some of my memories too somehow? Interesting...
"Anyways, is everything here?" he asked, and Xavier nodded.
"All 221 boxes are ready and accounted for. All the content inside them has been verified," Xavier said, passing him a document.
But Rael merely shook his head. "I trust you. I don't need to see any documents."
Xavier's crystal brow twitched. "Very well..."
"Oh, on that note..." Rael trailed off, opening the premium shop.
•—Premium Shop—•
Category: Clothing/Dark Auction
•—Balance: 159,681,251 Trell—•

"Hmm..." Rael glanced at Aria, looking her up and down.
Perfect.
He swiftly bought the clothes and handed them over to her.
"Put these on. I got a few lines for you to memorize as well," Rael said.
She glanced between him and the clothes, puzzled. "...Am I really going to be doing this?"
"Yep." Rael nodded and tapped Xavier on the shoulder. "Guide her to a changing room or something. I need to finish preparations on my side."
"B-But—"
"Very well, Rael, I shall get her ready," Xavier stated with a bow, and began leading the flustered Aria toward the room in the back.
In the meantime, he had to make this official.
Rael tapped a few settings, selected a dozen different options, and finally, what came out was a quest.
Just this time, it was a little unique.
<Quest type: Dark Auction>
<Broadcast Area: Dralgur Continent>
<Objective: Buy Rael Sutekh's Gacha item sets.>
<Rewards: Top 3 spenders receive invites to the Depths>
<Duration: 8 hours>

He took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself.
I sure hope nothing bad happens...
What do you think?
