Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 62 62: Resonant Duelist Progress, And Recruiting The Faceless One

Well, shit. Rael looked up at the sky and was met with the sight of the moon.

He had spent the last six hours practicing, and he only stopped when his daily allowance came in.

<Congratulations! Your active dungeons have produced: +113,870 Trell>

But of course, he treated it as an alarm clock, which he would use to go back.

Not before checking out his progress, though.

<Resonant Duelist: +56,000 Experience>

<Resonant Duelist Level: 1 → 18>

Last one for good measure, Rael thought, as he turned his Violin Blade toward a target dummy, and with a graceful slash alongside the red string, he sent out a single beautiful note.

He controlled it perfectly and made it circle around the dummy's head before closing in and cutting it clean from the sides.

And of course...

<Resonant Duelist: +100 Experience (Perfect)>

Every time he performed a perfect note, he got extra experience—simple as that.

Nonetheless, he put the training aside for today as he went back to his room.

It would also be a great idea to reply to a certain someone.

<Linlin Xu: Where are you? I've been looking for you all over the palace. Even the servants can't find you!>

<Rael Sutekh: Yeah? And did you think telling the entire Radiant Dawn organization to spam the chatroom would change anything? I can just close it, you know?>

<Linlin Xu: So you saw! You could've at least told me where you were.>

He let out a sigh as he approached the door to his room and flung it open, revealing Linlin, who was lying down on the right-side bed and eating some kind of meat dish.

"Surprise, I'm back," Rael said with a grin as he eyed her food. "Did you save me some?"

Linlin's brow twitched. "I did, but come on... where are your royal clothes? You're walking around like a beggar."

Rael approached the food before shrugging. "Believe it or not, these clothes are more comfortable than the royal shit I usually wear."

"Anyways," he continued, "did you get any juicy information? Or even a visit, perhaps. I did some negotiations with their king earlier."

"Nothing." Linlin shook her head as she began munching on food again. "The palace did seem a bit more lively though as the day passed. Maybe they're nocturnal?"

"Or maybe they're trying to pretty-up those women so they could seduce me," Rael added as a shiver ran down his spine. "I swear... that king has no filter with how he's trying to push his daughters onto me."

"From what I saw, they were pretty hot, why not accept one?" Linlin asked flatly.

Bruh... Rael let out a sigh, before shaking his head. "Zafira is fine, but I doubt I'd be able to negotiate terms that don't tie me down to this country. Or more like, I'm too lazy to do that."

Linlin hummed in amusement. "Must be nice being the king."

"It's not terrible, but I get tied down with too much unnecessary stuff, and after we go back to Celestara, I'll become much busier than I am now," Rael replied as he stacked his plate full of food and sat down on his own bed.

"Linlin, what is the real reason you created your organization?" he asked out of nowhere, making her nearly choke on her food.

"Where is that coming from? I told you already—I created it because of what happened between Zafira and the former king," she replied.

However, he could notice the faint shaking in her voice.

Is it because of all those notes I played today? It's a bit easier to distinguish what she's actually feeling now... Rael thought, puzzled.

"Sorry for bringing it up," Rael apologized. "But I do hope you can be honest with me one day. I'm a bit curious, after all."

Her brows twitched before she simply nodded.

Then, silence ensued, and it lasted for a few minutes until he heard a knock on the door.

"Room service?" He mused, as he put the plate aside, walked over to the door, and opened it.

What greeted his sight was a male servant, who immediately bowed upon seeing Rael.

"I've come to deliver a message—"

"Zareth'Null?" Rael cut him off with a tilt of his head, making the servant flinch. "What is the Faceless One doing in the palace?"

The servant's face scrunched up as a frown appeared.

"How did you know?" the Faceless One asked.

Rael merely shrugged. "I was just bullshitting. If the servant didn't know who Zareth'Null was, then I'd have just played it off. But how convenient, eh?"

The Faceless One stared at him speechlessly before walking past Rael and entering the room.

He flashed a nod toward Linlin and sat down near the food table.

"Did you make up your mind already?" Rael asked as he sat beside him. "Or is it some personal visit?"

"I agree with your terms," the Faceless One stated.

Rael raised a brow. "What's the catch?"

"What happens to me and my organization in the future if I don't follow you?" the Faceless One asked with a serious expression. "Remember, I can tell apart the truths and lies."

Hmm... I can't say I didn't expect this question, Rael thought as he looked the Faceless One directly in the eyes.

"You thrive," Rael stated flatly, not going into details, as that wouldn't exactly help him.

"How soon?" the Faceless One followed up. "How soon does it take for us to thrive?"

Rael fell into thought for a moment before coming up with an answer.

"Seven years, four months, and I don't exactly remember how many days. But that's when your name would become known," Rael replied.

"So, success is guaranteed as long as I follow my current path?" the Faceless One mused. "What do you think a normal person would do in this situation?"

"They'd pussy out and come up with some 'you will eventually reach your goals' bullshit." Rael stood up and approached the Faceless One. "The safe route is for people who don't have ambition. And I, for one, know you're not that type of person."

Rael raised a glass, pointing it at the Faceless One. "There will be risks, but I can promise you that same notoriety in less than a year. So, what do you say?"
