Chapter 681: To Test My Religion 2
Chiron understood the basics of spreading Faith. Since time immemorial, the formulae had not changed. Of course, it could be approached in different formats.
An example would be the through the point of common ground and common enemy. This was finding faith in a leader that had united a people against a common enemy.
What happened in this case was actually very incredible, because the so called leader or object of Faith would find a common enemy of the people and direct all their malice and hate and uncomfortablity of the society on this common enemy, blaming them for everything that was wrong in the society.
This worked because people were faulty by nature. But even worse was the fact that no one wanted the guilt of failed responsibility and instead wanted to believe that everything that was wrong with their lives and society was as a result of the existence of this common enemy, even though deep down, they knew that this was not the case.
The leader of such faith would state that it was heaven’s decree for him to empty the world of this common enemy on behalf of the people while spitting a futuristic world of beauty that would come to be without the existence of this common enemy.
Basically, they would sell a dream and the society would buy it. This was actually a very quick way to garner followers.
the only problem with this method was that after the common enemy was destroyed, the leader would have to look for another one, or else, the reason for his existence and faith hence forth becomes useless. Even worse, they might be those underneath them that would seek to destroy them as the seat of power would be in a state of constant envy.
This could easily been seen during wars and many countries ruled by a dictator in Chiron’s former world.
Acquiring faith in this method was not always reassuring unless of course, the so called leader was marthered before the common enemy was eliminated.
Only then would their legacy live on.
There was just something about a dead leader that preached belief that made people want to carry on their will.
Just like this example, they were many other ways to acquire faith of people. However, this was not a normal world.
It was a place where tricks like walking on water were not considered a big deal. It was a place where people could become strong enough to flip mountains and dry oceans. And it had many times of energies, each one nearly as mysterious as the last one.
Meaning that to gather faith through the method of outrageous miracles was a big waste of time.
Luckily for Chiron, he could see what had worked with other religions in this world and make his own adjustments. After all, he could clearly see that even the Holy Church had managed to find a way to make things work for themselves.
That was a Faith that had lasted for thousands of years. But before that, Chiron wanted to try other methods. After all, he could also see faults in the Holy Church. These were faults that would consume them eventually during the Great war that was to come.
But then again, there was no such thing as a perfect machine. At least not one that could completely stand against time. But then again, he could perfect his own, and this could be done by taking the best parts of different methods and blending them together.
This was his goal in this case.
For the there great Clans of the orcs, he was integrating himself into their myth and culture. after all, it was one method to intergrate oneself into a society.
After all, they were many societies that created their own beliefs based on what they considered to be impossible or to be miracles.
For these great Orcs, it was the faith that they had in their ancestral bloodline.
But Chiron was not done. Next, he had the Precious land spirit bring over the leaders of all the smaller tribes, and then he gave them an entirely different gospel. This time around, he did not manifest himself as an Orc to show familiarity which would have heaved on their already existing belief.
Rather, he revealed himself as an object of wonder, chaos and stability.
After all, in his former life, there was one such a religion that had an account of a deity that revealed themself as a Burning Bush.
This time around, he revealed himself as Burning mass of blood. This was to create unfamiliarity and sense of mysteriousness but still maintain awe.
After which he wrote a different set of gospel on their skin, but this time around, he carved it with blood runes.
And then he let them go. All of them were in Awe of his power just like the first set that had come.
Chiron wanted to see how both sides would perceive each religion. After all, to them, the ruler of the cardinal forbidden zone was not the same person.
Chiron had summed up that the total number of the small tribes in terms of power output was equivalent to that of the three great Orc tribes.
Now, he wanted to know how religion would shape and bend their societies. Also, he wanted to know how quickly Faith in him would spread with either methods.
There was also the fact that he wanted to know how a new faith could challenge the old and norm and what ways it could win. After all, he would not mind having every being on the planet worshipping him.
But this was something that not even the holy church had achieved in their thousands of years. He was interested as to the reason for this.
And lastly, he wanted to see in what aspects he needed to refine his act again and again until it was perfect.
Emma who was at his side all along, also observed this. Chiron wanted her to take note, as he planned to use his servants as the anchor of his faith in the lives of other people...
What do you think?
