Chapter 280 [Among the Fate Weavers!]
"Can you guys try any harder?" Laplace spoke as he dodged Zero's attack before observing the spell that the Angel was preparing.
He tried moving his hand as if cancelling the spell, but nothing happened as the Angel continued her chant.
"Tsk," and Laplace got annoyed, recalling that she too was a Fate Weaver so her spells might have been more special than a normal Angel.
"[Purifying Light!]" the Angel completed her magic before she added,"[Transform: Phoenix!]"
And that pure light took the shape of a giant magnificent bird, carrying the most powerful healing magic that one could have known at that time. While it was a magic that brightens the body, healing it from every point possible, when applied at the demons, the effects are exactly opposite of it.
It burns them like a curse, reduce their powers as it debuffs them, and at a level at which this healing magic was cast, it was enough to wipe out an entire city of demons.
"You ought to do better than that," and Laplace bathed in it without any effects whatsoever. He simply smiled at the Angel, whose eyes were constantly narrowed at him.
Up until now, all attacks she did were plainly useless against Laplace, making her feel defeated and angry. Though still she didn't lose her hope as she was more than a healing mage. There was still a lot she could do.
"kriiiii!!!"
The light phoenix shouted before beamed towards Laplace, while he simply stepped back, dodging it's attack. Though it was only the beginning as the pheonix circled around before once again beaming towards Laplace.
This time, a smile formed on Laplace's face before he moved in for a punch, precisely timing it against the phoenix's attack. But instead of creating an explosion, the phoenix passed through Laplace's hand, and then through its body, burning it from inside out, before the phoenix escaped from his back and then prepared for another consecutive attack.
As for Laplace, he healed himself pretty quickly, before his eyes chased after that phoenix, this time he decided to keep dodging until he could find a blind spot of that phoenix.
The exchange was processed with a bunch of steps, but essentially, it all happened within a single moment. At a speed that the human eye could barely keep up, making the onlookers shocked at the level of battle that was going on in front of them.
"[Decrypt!]" Luciana shouted as she shot at Laplace. A strange white energy that travelled near the speed of sound. And Laplace, who was playing with the phoenix, observed it with caution before teleporting at least 100 meters away.
Though, locking on to Laplace, that white energy chased after him, while he unfolded his giant wings, flying around the area at a rapid speed.
Taking out his sword, he dodged that white light before cutting down the phoenix which simply regenerated itself again. And as he was wondering how to solve the problems of the two energies, another guy, Zero, the 6th Fate Weaver, appeared right in front of him, his powers increased at least a dozen times more than before.
-BOOOM!
Zero punched Laplace with all his might, but was easily stopped by Laplace's fist again as he kept observing him with a smile. That attack soon passed through his hands, before landing on Laplace's face, pushing him a dozen meters behind where the white light was coming from.
A hurried look appeared on Laplace's face as he teleported again, barely dodging the white light's attack, only to get hit by another strong light spell that was on par with the Phoenix's one.

"Take that you son of a b*tch!" The Angel, Raphi, shouted as she finally had a hit at Laplace, her eyes shining a bit, her expression relieved as the tension faded a little. But in the next second, her eyes widened a bit as she looked at Laplace's injuries once again healing at a rapid speed.
"Don't stop," Luciana spoke as she created a dozen more white lights in the air before she mumbled something in an unknown language. And then as her eyes glowed green, the mana around her circumvented before increasing at a rapid speed.
"[First Colour: WHITE!!!!]" She shouted as the sky turned white, the ground turned white, and everything around them except for Laplace, Raphi and Zero, stopped in time.@@novelbin@@
Zero and Raphi's powers exploded while Laplace's remained the same.
-Whoosh!
-Whoosh!
Zero moved in first, while the Phoenix followed. Each of them moving much much faster than they were before.
-BOOM!
-BOOOM!
"Do you think this is enough to stop me, Luciana?" Laplace asked as he held Zero's fist with one hand, while the phoenix's in another.
"Impossible!" Raphi spoke as she saw that her phoenix, which should have been impossible touch in this realm, was held by Laplace with ease.
Zero's fist vanished before reaching Laplace's face. Though before it did, it was held tightly by the wrist, as Laplace spoke,
"It's not going to work twice."
-Crack!
-KRIIIIII!!!!!!
Twisting Zero's hand, he broke his hand before throwing him down. As for the phoenix, he simply overloaded it with his own energy, suffocating it until it burnt itself out. And then looking as how the phoenix was struggling to keep itself alive, Laplace laughed out loud.
"You were indeed a powerful being. How ill fated that you have come across me. If only you have kept yourself away, you would have been able to keep yourself alive."
"YOU BASTARD!!!" Raphi shouted but Luciana stopped her from jumping to Laplace. Focusing on the Phoenix, she analyzed it's condition before speaking with a sigh,
"Laplace has filled her with a huge amount of curse energy, there is nothing we can do-"
But as she was speaking, she then saw traces of divinity forming around the phoenix, slowly consuming the corrosive energy inside her. Even Laplace who was standing proudly, looked at the traces of divinity forming by themselves without any channel.
The phoenix was injured enough to retire from this battle, but the curse energy which should have permanently killed her was now gone, as it was slowly engulfed by the divinity trace, which once consumed the curse, also disappeared without leaving any trace behind.
And the Two Fate Weavers looked at this 'natural' phenomenon with a slightly shocked expression before both of them observed the entire surrounding below them, checking if anyone among the Gods was responsible for this… but then again, they were all frozen in time.
It would have been impossible for them to know the exact position of the phoenix when, where and in how much amount the curse would have been placed… right?
What do you think?
