Chapter 5: System Activation: First Floor!
Chapter 5: System Activation: First Floor!
Lucian woke up with a groan. A massive headache and dizziness overwhelmed him as he tried to open his eyes but was blinded by bright rays from the sun.
Slowly, his eyes adapted, and he frowned when he saw where he was.
He was in a very large forest with trees over tens of meters in height. Grasses taller than an average adult human, and even the tree's branches were as thick as the trunk of a tree on Earth.
"Where am I?"
Suddenly, a burst of memory flickered in his head. "Veronica, Chris."
The names ripped through his gritted teeth as he clenched his fists in rage.
They had actually tried to kill him!
Closing his eyes to calm himself, a series of notifications suddenly engulfed his line of sight.

A gigantic die with numbers ranging from 1 to 10,000 appeared and began rolling at high speed. As it slowed down, the number 10,000 shone brightly.

"Reroll system?"
"It rerolled my talent from F-rank to SSS-rank!?"
"Doesn't this mean I can reroll anything I want? My stats, my strength, even items or Blood Art?"
Lucian's face changed slightly. The system was simply too powerful.
He then took a deep breath and looked at the new class he had gotten.

'Infinite vitality? Isn't that a bit too much?'
Even the strongest ranker in the world doesn't possess infinite vitality. Just which sort of god's inheritance did I come across?'
Although slightly worried about the repercussions, it soon sloped to the back of his mind as he saw how much his stats had grown.
'My stat points have instantly doubled, almost reaching 10 stat points, which means I am also as strong as a ordinary first-floor monster!'
"Hahaha!"
"As expected of me!"
"Who dares call me trash now!?"
Lucian was overjoyed, boasting with pride and arrogance deep in his bones.
With renewed confidence, he was now sure of one thing: he couldn't die, at least not so easily any longer.
Just the thought of being unkillable made Lucian want to jump into battle with the boss monster.
However, he knew that he wasn't truly undying, as there should be a limit to every talent.
Maybe if they chopped off his head or pierced through his heart?
Lucian frowned slightly. Not knowing truly puts one on edge. But as long as he guarded his head and heart tightly, he should be good, right?
Grabbing his long spear from his back, he twisted it, and the magnetic holster behind him turned off.
Then he stabbed his thigh with the pointy tip of the spear.
Before blood could seep out, his flesh wriggled like thousands of worms as they interwove with each other at lightning speed.
With speed barely visible to the naked eye, the wound instantly closed as though it was never there.
It wasn't even up to a second, and he had already fully healed. Moreover, the skill was actually upgradable. The only downside was that it could only be upgraded with experience points.
This instantly gave him an idea.
"System, reroll my spear."
[Ding! No reroll points available. 1 Reroll chance would be available after every 1000 exp gained..]
Lucian was slightly disappointed but wasn't discouraged. As long as he killed a few monsters, he should be able to gain some experience points.
Looking at the direction of the sun, he traced the path ahead to the Lizardmen camp. It was the perfect place to train his skills.
Lucian moved swiftly through the towering grasses like a panther. His movement was incredibly fluid, and his speed was so fast he moved like a blur.
With agility at 8 and strength at 6, he was about eight times faster and six times stronger than a regular person. Not to mention he had infinite vitality—he couldn't feel tired at all!
The forest gradually thinned, and the towering grasses grew shorter as he approached the edge of a vast clearing.
Suddenly, his ears trembled as he heard quite a few disturbances coming from before him.
Crouching low to the ground, Lucian walked slowly and cautiously until he could see what it was.
It was then he saw them: a Lizardmen patrol.
Their scaly green skin glistened with an oily sheen under the sunlight.
Each of them was muscular, and they stood about two meters tall, equipped with crude spears, shields, and armor made from hardened leather.
Their reptilian eyes darted about, vertical pupils contracting and expanding as they searched for any signs of invaders.
The system's notification hovered in his vision, confirming their identity:
[Lizardmen]
[Level: 2]
Lucian smirked, tightening his grip on the long spear.
The spear's shaft vibrated as Lucian's muscles trembled violently in anticipation of the upcoming battle.
With infinite vitality and instantaneous healing, these low-level minions would merely be slightly difficult to deal with. Still, he saw them as an opportunity to test his abilities and gather experience points for future rerolls.
What do you think?
