Chapter 257: Chapter 257: One Person Stays Behind
Because of that rain, not only did people who turned into zombies appear in the base, but also new Special Ability Users who evolved. Even though their numbers weren’t many, it was enough to shock the entire base.
To avoid frightening Guo Yang and the others, the family didn’t tell them about everyone getting promoted together. Only Su Xiangzhe, Lin Tianhui, and Lu Guanhai, who were originally Level One, announced they had upgraded to Level Two. The promotions of Mao Zhihang and Mao Qiqi were also concealed, planning to be revealed slowly later, but even this was enough to surprise Guo Yang and his group.
“There must be something wrong with that rain, I knew I should have saved some,” Guo Yang said while eating breakfast.
“You’re not a researcher, what’s the use of saving it?” Liao Yifan retorted.
“True, but surely someone will save it for research,” Guo Yang stated confidently.
“We’re going out to kill zombies today, Yifan, are you coming?” Su Jin asked.
“Yes, of course, I’m definitely going,” Liao Yifan said excitedly.
Needless to say, Xue Wanyi, as well as Yin Chengtian and Shi Jin, all expressed their desire to join with bright, eager eyes.
“You traitors, are you going to leave me alone in the shop?”
Guo Yang stuffed his mouth with dumplings and spoke huffily.
Nobody at the table responded, only Shi Jin carefully glanced around and, seeing no one reacting, he lowered his head and continued slurping his porridge.
Guo Yang: …
Too much, these people are too much!
“You can totally handle it alone,” Lu Hao said.
Ever since they had witnessed Guo Yang’s prowess last time, they were no longer worried about him managing the shop alone. Additionally, now that the Security team had been established in the base, everyone felt there was no problem with Guo Yang minding the shop alone for a day.
Actually, Guo Yang wasn’t afraid he couldn’t cope alone; his concern was that everyone else was going out, leaving him without even a single person to talk to, giving him a sense of isolation.
However, the shop was his idea, and he couldn’t always drag others from the team to keep him company every day. And he understood that everyone needed to grow stronger.
“Just for one day, behave in the base,” Liao Yifan spoke to Guo Yang with the tone one would use to address Local Tyrant Gold.
“Okay, fine then,”
Guo Yang nodded with a resigned expression.
After breakfast, Su Jin prepared to take out several whole mutant animals from her Storage Space to give to Guo Yang. Last time, Guo Yang had tried selling two whole Green Sheep in the shop and managed to sell them off, so today Su Jin brought out some wild chickens for Guo Yang to store in his space.
Su Jin was inspired to sell rice when she noticed Ban Xiaobo and others’ love for cooked rice at a previous gathering. Since another batch of rice had been harvested in the Storage Space, she and her family had been packing some of them into small packages to sell. Raw rice doesn’t take up much space and can be preserved for a long time, so she felt it should sell well.
Guo Yang also thought this was a good method, and he had heard that Su Jin and her family were planning to open a supermarket before the Apocalypse, thus they had stocked up enough grains and necessities. Selling these small packages of rice could likely last a long while, right?
Guo Yang, thrilled, packed a bunch of items into his Storage Space, which had become quite large since the last upgrade to Level Two. Moreover, last time he had even managed to store Su Jin’s medical equipment into the Base Hospital, so his space was relatively empty now.
He really wanted to fill it up a bit.
Thinking these thoughts, Guo Yang walked to the shop.
But upon arriving, he found three people already waiting at the shop’s entrance, one of them with a full head of dyed yellow hair. Guo Yang stayed silent, took out the keys, and prepared to open the door.
“You run this shop?” the man with the yellow hair asked.
“Hello, yes, are you looking to buy something?” Guo Yang asked politely.
“Holy shit, Ah Xiao, there really is a shop selling stuff here. Finally found one, haha!”
Ouyang Feizhou said excitedly.
“Hurry up and open the door, we want to see what’s for sale!”
Han Xiao was also impatient. They hadn’t even eaten breakfast before heading out today. They wandered around the base for half the day yesterday and didn’t see any shops. Who could have expected that this store would be so close to where they lived, and it was just an inconspicuous convenience store?
Guo Yang, seeing that these three were indeed planning to buy something, opened the door, and at the same time, the three of them rushed in.
Han Xiao looked at the empty shelves and was somewhat stunned.
What are these? Children’s sketchbooks?
Ye Shuai also took a round in the store and found that there was nothing in the entire shop. Had this shop already been emptied out?
“The pictures on the shelves are some of the goods in this store, and they are priced. Here is the latest inventory list for you to see,” Guo Yang handed each of them a list.
“Where are the goods?” Ouyang Feizhou asked.
“You can choose items from the list, and after paying with Crystal Cores, I will retrieve the items from my space for you,” Guo Yang explained, noting that these three must be new to the base.
“Wow, Ah Xiao, he’s a Space Element Ability User!” Ye Shuai exclaimed.
Han Xiao was already carefully examining the list, and he realized that the items here were indeed not cheap, far more expensive than the ones in the base cafeteria.
Remembering the corn Xia Mufei held, he had a sudden idea and said, “Boss, give us three corns first!”
Seeing Guo Yang smilingly spread his hands in front of them, Han Xiao realized that they hadn’t paid yet. No wonder the store owners here were so cautious in the apocalypse.
After collecting the Crystal Cores, Guo Yang took out a bag of corn, containing four ears.
Looking at the plump corn, they all couldn’t help but swallow, realizing Xia Mufei hadn’t lied to them.
After devouring a few bites, Han Xiao realized, the store’s high prices made sense! This corn was countless times tastier than the unappetizing food at the base cafeteria; the sweetness was off the charts!
“There are seats inside the little shop, the three of you can eat here if you’d like,” Guo Yang indicated towards a few tables and chairs inside.
They continued eating and nodded eagerly, Han Xiao even started reviewing the list while eating, spotting braised meat and beer!
What kind of miraculous convenience store was this?!
He wanted to buy, he wanted to buy, they had plenty of Crystal Cores!
Su Jin and the others drove three armored cars, taking Mrs. Su and Lin Tianhui to the hospital and also stopped by to greet Ban Xiaobo and a few others nearby.
From afar, Ban Xiaobo recognized the three familiar cars and ran over waving his hands, asking, “Are you all okay?”
Knowing that Ban Xiaobo was referring to last night’s rain, Lu Hao got out of the car to chat with him for a bit.
“Where’s your sister-in-law? I have some super explosive news to tell her!” Ban Xiaobo excitedly asked.
Su Jin, already having a hunch about what it was, still got out of the car to ask Ban Xiaobo what happened.
“Rong Yuan awakened the Metal Element Ability!”
Ban Xiaobo said this while watching their expressions, but he noticed that neither of them seemed as excited as he expected; especially Lu Hao, who didn’t show even a trace of surprise.@@novelbin@@
Only Su Jin said, “That’s really great.”
Why weren’t these two surprised at all? Shouldn’t they feel that the eight Crystal Cores spent were very worth it now?
What do you think?
