Chapter 275: 275: Mutated Lion
Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Mutated Lion
Su Jin wasn’t too worried about her family being unable to handle the zombies, because the horde of mutant animals that had been chasing after them was almost dealt with. Even if more zombies came, they wouldn’t be afraid.
It was just that Xia Mufei and the others were closer to the entrance of the parking lot, so the zombies all ran towards them first. She worried that they would struggle to cope.
“Alright! No problem,”
Mao Zhihang walked a distance forward and within the controllable range of his Metal Element Ability, sealed the door shut.
While Su Jin was talking, the Mutated Lion, disregarding the three people behind it, attacked in Su Jin’s direction!
Lu Hao’s gaze darkened as he quickly ran towards Su Jin.
But Su Jin, keeping the Mutated Lion in her peripheral vision, used vines to transport herself to safety the moment it pounced. Where she had been standing, a wooden spike unexpectedly materialized, and as the lion’s paw hit the ground, it impaled itself on the spike!
Puchi!
The wooden spike pierced through one paw of the Mutated Lion, which roared angrily. Lu Hao took advantage of its distraction to slash at its left leg with his Tang Sword.
Howl~
The front paw of the Mutated Lion’s left leg was chopped off by Lu Hao’s Tang Sword!
“Brother-in-law is really strong,”
Lin Xiuyuan couldn’t help but feel envious; each of the lion’s legs was as thick as a massive column, yet Lu Hao managed to chop one off with a single swing of his sword.
The roar grew louder, shaking the area and causing Han Xiao and the others to involuntarily look over.
“Holy crap, they actually took down that lion!”
Ye Shuai exclaimed in surprise, though his hands didn’t dare stop controlling the rocks, smashing them into the zombies before him.
“Ah Xiao, I think they were holding back on us last time,” Ouyang Feizhou said.
Han Xiao launched water balls from his fingers into the foreheads of two zombies, then bit his lip and gave Ouyang a pained expression. He hadn’t wanted to fight last time either and had no idea that the two over there were such heavy hitters!
He had thought his Level Three Special Ability would dominate the Apocalypse, but now…
Su Jin’s wooden spike was too long, still embedded in the Mutated Lion’s right paw, firmly trapping it in place.
“Now’s the time!”
While the Mutated Lion was still lying on the ground, Su Jin placed her palm on the ground. Before Xue Wanyi could understand what was happening, a deafening lion’s roar echoed, laced with pain.
Immediately, he saw a pool of bright red blood flow from beneath the Mutated Lion.
If the Mutated Lion could turn over now, everyone would see its abdomen had been punctured with dozens of wooden spikes, resembling a hornet’s nest!
“Is it, is it dead?” Lin Xiuyuan also asked in surprise. That was fast?
“Don’t go over there,”
Lu Hao blocked Lin Xiuyuan with his arm, who wanted to approach—the counterattack of a fierce beast was what they needed to be most wary of.
As expected, Mao Qiqi called out to them, “Sister Xiao Jin, it’s not dead yet!”
“It’s up to you now,” Su Jin said to Lin Xiuyuan.
Lin Xiuyuan nodded. At a distance from the Mutated Lion, he formed two long Ice Spikes and thrust them simultaneously towards its neck.
The Mutated Lion had already sensed the danger, but the wooden spikes deeply embedded in it meant it couldn’t escape, despite its efforts.
The Ice Spikes impaled the Mutated Lion’s neck with precision, and this time it couldn’t even let out a roar.
“Qiqi, how is it now?” Su Jin asked.
It was a moment before Mao Qiqi replied, “It’s dead.”
She had been keeping an eye on the large orange dot on her tracker. As Lin Xiuyuan made his final attack, the dot started flashing, and only when it finally went out completely did she dare to confirm that the Mutated Lion was dead.
“Well done,”
Xue Wanyi whistled loudly to the group, feeling exhilarated by their recent cooperation in combat.
“You too,”
Lu Hao said with a smile, patting Xue Wanyi on the shoulder, believing their team of four was irreplaceable.
“How are you guys feeling? Need a break?” asked Su Jin.
By now, zombies had begun to climb over the wall into the parking lot, and the fight between the others and the mutant animals was drawing to an end. Nie Qing, noticing a black chimpanzee still entangled with Lin Cheng, leaped into the air and sent a giant Wind Blade from behind at the ape.
Upon the sound, the chimpanzee fell.
“Thank you, Master Nie!”
Lin Cheng wiped the sweat from his forehead and spoke to Nie Qing. The chimpanzee had the same Earth Element Ability as him and was much smarter than those brainless Mutated Zombies. It even knew to strike when he was off guard. When he attacked, the chimpanzee mimicked his defensive techniques to protect itself, which had Lin Cheng in a panic. It was only when Nie Qing noticed the deadlock here that he intervened to assist.@@novelbin@@
“Don’t mention it,”
Nie Qing waved his hand dismissively, surveying the battle below. All the mutant animals had been dealt with, and the zombies were cleaned up by their team of four. However, he was concerned that Xiao Jin had just finished off a Mutated Lion and might have used up a significant amount of her special ability power. He wondered if she needed to rest.
“I’m fine for now, let’s see how everyone else is,” Su Jin replied with a smile to Nie Qing.
“Let’s just rest together after we’ve dealt with everything,” Huang Yunxiang also suggested.
Seeing that no one intended to take a rest, Su Jin didn’t press further. Besides, Mao Qiqi had reported that there were only a little over a hundred zombies outside. It would be safest to deal with them and leave quickly, especially since the Mutated Lion had bled too much.
Mao Zhihang understood and used his Metal Element Ability to open the door, while Xue Wanyi took the lead, drawing the zombies toward them to prevent them from approaching another team later.
“They… they really took care of all of them, my god!”
Yin Qiu had been worried about the zombies outside, but seeing the group leading the zombies toward themselves, she couldn’t help but feel respect.
“Their special abilities are impressive,”
Jian Zongzheng said seriously, and managing to maintain their power until now showed they had substantial special ability power reserves. He recalled from a previous lecture that Su Jin claimed to be a Level Three Special Ability user, but he had a feeling she might have surpassed that level by now.
“Of course, that’s my goddess’s team,”
Anna said, admiring Su Jin as if she could do anything.
“Do you think they might be the team that took the quest for fifty Mutated Crystal Nuclei at the mission center this morning?”
Zhang Xiaoai suddenly seemed to remember something and asked.
“Very likely,”
Jian Zongzheng replied. His Metal Element Ability was already at Level Two, but compared to that team, he felt incredibly weak.
“I can’t go on; I need to rest for a while,”
Han Xiao admitted, feeling so worn out he was on the verge of collapse. Why was his Level Three Water Element Ability giving out first?
Ouyang Feizhou shielded him from the zombies in front, while he and Ye Shuai both knew that although Han Xiao’s ability had a high burst power, it was too quickly depleted.
“He doesn’t run out too fast, he just has too little special ability power,” Xia Ying commented.
“What are you talking about, man? I’m a Level Three,”
Han Xiao retorted, out of breath.
“If I’m not mistaken, did you absorb too many Crystal Cores?”
Jian Zongzheng inquired, as it was the only explanation for a Level Three Special Ability user running out of power so quickly.
What do you think?
