Chapter 146: Chapter 146 “You go and divorce him tomorrow…
Xie Mingwang’s cane thudded heavily against the floor, his anger seething.
“I’ve told you time and time again not to associate with that woman, yet you refuse to listen to advice.”
“You have no status or title by her side, what do you have to compare with her husband?”
Xie Mingwang had seen plenty of men in the circle who kept mistresses, but it was all just for fun; how could there be any feelings involved.
To his dismay, his own grandson had now secretly become another woman’s lover.
Xie Mingwang was so angry he could barely contain himself.
You’re hurt now, aren’t you?!
“That woman obviously doesn’t like you; it’s good that you see it clearly now. Don’t go looking for her anymore,” Xie Mingwang instructed.
Doesn’t like you…
Xie Changyan thought again of Ji Tingyang’s words, feeling something stuck in his throat, uncomfortable and piercing.
He adjusted his tie, a trace of restlessness flashing in his eyes, and replied impatiently, “I know my own limits.”
The next evening.
Because he needed to entertain clients, Xie Changyan declined Su Linzhou’s invitation to continue to the bar and headed to Flaming Lily Restaurant with his secretary.
“I’ve long heard of President Xie’s reputation, and seeing you today, you truly carry an impressive presence,” the business partner said, holding up his glass to toast with him.
The secretary stepped forward to intercept, “I’m sorry, President Xie rarely drinks, let me…”
“It’s fine.” Xie Changyan took a glass from the table, touched it lightly with the other’s, and downed it in one go.
The business partner laughed heartily, “President Xie is indeed generous.”
As the evening progressed, most of the wine on the table had been consumed.
However, no one expected that the business partner, who seemed to have a good tolerance, would be the first to collapse, vomiting continuously in the restroom of the private room.
The secretary poured a cup of tea and handed it to Xie Changyan, looking worried, “President Xie, are you alright?”
“I’m fine. I need to use the restroom. Remember to send President Li home later,” Xie Changyan said as he got up to leave, his steady strides showing no sign of the four or five bottles of alcohol he had drunk that night.
“I didn’t expect President Xie to have such a strong capacity for alcohol,” the secretary murmured as he watched Xie Changyan’s retreating figure.
In the restroom.
Xie Changyan supported himself with both hands on the sink, the cold water splashing on his face bringing some clarity to his muddled head.
He leaned against the counter for some time until the buzz in his head subsided, then he turned to leave.
“Ah Yan?”
Suddenly, a clear yet slightly confused voice called out from behind him.
Xie Changyan turned around to see Lin Xu standing at the corridor’s edge. A flash of surprise flit across her eyes the moment she saw him, and then she burst into a radiant smile.
Is she happy to see me?
Xie Changyan fell silent.
He suddenly felt uncertain.
Was he drunk, or why else would he see her?
Shouldn’t she be with Ji Tingyang…
Seeing him standing there in a daze, Lin Xu walked up a few steps with a smile to greet him. As she got closer, she wrinkled her nose in dissatisfaction, “Why have you drunk so much? It stinks.”
Apparently unable to stand the smell of alcohol on him, Lin Xu couldn’t help but move a little further away from him.
But she had only retreated a few steps when Xie Changyan swiftly approached, grabbed her wrist, and spun her around, pinning her against the wall.
His gaze toward her was deep and unfathomable, murky and obscure, growing increasingly fervent as he looked at her.
“What’s wrong?” Lin Xu asked, puzzled.
Without waiting for her to speak further, he leaned down and covered her lips with his, kissing her without explanation.
The man’s lips, imparting a faint scent of wine, forcefully held the back of her head as he deepened the kiss, gnawing and ravaging.
The kiss was long and intense.
After an indefinite amount of time, Xie Changyan finally released her, gasping softly against her forehead.
He looked at Lin Xu, a hoarse voice mingled with a touch of sourness spilling from his throat, “What exactly do you feel for me?” @@novelbin@@
Lin Xu’s cheeks still retained the suggestive flush from moments ago, her voice light and soft, “Of course I like you.”
“Then what is going on between you and Ji Tingyang?”
“What’s going on with him and me?”
A struggle flashed through Xie Changyan’s eyes, and finally, as if resigning himself, he said, “Go divorce him tomorrow…”
Lin Xu was stunned for a moment, “What, what?”
Divorce who?
“Divorce him and be with me,” Xie Changyan stared at her intently, fearing he might see even a hint of reluctance on her face.
“Do you think I married Ji Tingyang?” Lin Xu was dumbfounded.
Xie Changyan frowned, “Isn’t that the case?”
“…”
After a long while.
Lin Xu burst into laughter.
She laughed so hard that her shoulders shook, and tears welled up at the corners of her eyes.
“What are you laughing at?” Xie Changyan furrowed his brows.
Lin Xu wrapped her arms around his neck, her eyes brimming with mirth as she looked at him, “Do you like me?”
Xie Changyan didn’t answer, nuzzling her cheek with the forehead that was against hers, his brown eyes showing a haziness from the alcohol.
“Say something, if you don’t speak up I’m going to leave,” Lin Xu’s tone carried a hint of coquettishness.
“…I like you,” Xie Changyan’s raspy voice resonated in her ear.
“Then even if I’m already married, how can you still like me?” Lin Xu blinked, with a teasing light in her eyes.
A tide of bitter emotions churned in Xie Changyan’s chest, “Even if you were married, I still couldn’t let go…”
He knew he shouldn’t have fallen for her, but every time he saw her, his body acted before his mind could, incapable of restraint.
Su Linzhou had advised him more than once, and even his grandfather was not in favor.
But every time he thought of letting go, the pain felt like needles in his spine, leaving him restless.
Xie Changyan finally understood.
He didn’t want to let go.
Even if she had someone she liked, even if she was married, he still didn’t want to let go.
Xie Changyan looked straight at her, his deep gaze holding a surge of emotion, darker than the night outside the window.
The fiercely suppressed desire from earlier seemed to break through its bounds in this moment, overthrowing the last of his rationality.
Xie Changyan pulled her into a dim emergency passageway nearby, allowing the desires from the depths of his heart to spread and fill the darkness.
He kissed Lin Xu’s lips again, biting forcefully, as if he wanted to devour her.
The ringtone from Lin Xu’s phone in her pocket sounded again and again, Xie Changyan stopping her attempts to answer it time after time, pinning her wrists with one hand and pressing them above her head.
Only when Ji Tingyang’s calling voice faintly reached them from the corridor outside, did Lin Xu’s rationality slowly return, and she struggled to escape his kisses.
Lin Xu’s face flushed with a hint of panic, “If I don’t go back now, Ji Tingyang is going to call the police.”
“Alright…” Xie Changyan swallowed, calming his spirit, then lightly pecked her lips again, “Go divorce Ji Tingyang tomorrow.”
Lin Xu blinked innocently, “But tomorrow’s the weekend, I think the civil affairs office is closed.”
Xie Changyan paused, then through gritted teeth, said, “Then do it first thing Monday morning.”
What do you think?
