Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Even a Substitute Has a Time to Turn Official
Ever since returning from the cruise, Lin Xu felt that Xie Changyan had become very strange.
It was either buying her a house or wanting to buy her cars and bags.
He even pushed his Black Card into her hands, “Don’t use Ji Tingyang’s card. Use mine.”
He seemed the same as usual, but only Lin Xu knew that every time they met he became overly enthusiastic, always luring her into secluded places.
In the office of Xie Group, Xie Changyan almost pinned her down on the couch, his lazy eyes gently sweeping over her rosy cheeks after being kissed.
The air between their breaths was filled with unyielding heat and adhesive, his forehead against hers as he dragged out his words, “Who is the person before your eyes?”
Lin Xu’s heart skipped a beat, “Ah Yan.”@@novelbin@@
“Say my name.”
“Xie Changyan.”
Xie Changyan seemed satisfied, squinting his eyes and lifting her chin for another kiss, his passion and tenderness enveloping her.
The scent of his hormones lingered at the tip of her nose, Lin Xu’s cheeks becoming even more flushed, her heart uncontrollably racing as both her thoughts and reason sank.
“President Xie, the meeting is starting in ten minutes,” the voice of his assistant, followed by a knock, interrupted.
Lin Xu suddenly snapped back to reality, frantically pushing him away and clumsily fixing her disheveled clothes, her flushed face not to be concealed.
Xie Changyan took his time enjoying her panic, chuckling softly, “Don’t worry, I locked it. He can’t come in.”
Lin Xu’s cheeks grew hotter.
Having been locked inside for so long, anyone could guess what had happened.
“I won’t come over next time,” Lin Xu murmured under her breath.
“Then I’ll go to the Ji Family to find you,” Xie Changyan said with a light laugh.
Imagining Xie Changyan confronting her two sons in a tense standoff, Lin Xu felt her head swell with the pressure, “Never mind, let’s not.”
Just as Xie Changyan was about to say something else, there was another knock from his assistant outside.
“President Xie, the meeting time is almost here.”
“You should go now,” Lin Xu pushed at his chest.
“Wait for me here; I’ll take you home after work,” Xie Changyan said.
Xie Changyan had said the meeting would only take an hour or two, so Lin Xu decided to wait for him for a while, but unexpectedly, that wait turned into an entire evening.
When Xie Changyan came out of the meeting room, Lin Xu had already fallen asleep on the sofa.
Perhaps hearing some noise, Lin Xu rubbed the pillow under her head and slowly opened her eyes.
Her eyes, still sleepy and confused, seemed as though she hadn’t fully awakened from her dreams.
“Sorry, I didn’t know this meeting would take so long,” Xie Changyan apologized as he tidied the wisps of hair by her ear, “Are you hungry? I’ll take you to dinner.”
“I’m not hungry; I’ve finished the meals you ordered for me,” Lin Xu said.
As if instructed by Xie Changyan, right at mealtime, his assistant brought in a meal box from Flaming Lily Restaurant for her.
She had no choice but to eat; the assistant was almost crying, “Miss Lin, please eat a little. Otherwise, President Xie will dock my bonus.”
Lin Xu’s stomach was still filled to the brim.
Xie Changyan’s fingertips playfully twirled the tips of her hair, “Then shall I take you home?”
“Okay.”
Xie Changyan drove Lin Xu back to the villa, and just as they were lingering at the door, a black sedan passed by them and stopped alongside.
Ji Tingyang stepped out of the car, his sharp eyes fixating on their clasped hands, his usually stern expression turning even colder.
Although she was already the mother of three children, Lin Xu still felt a pang of guilt at that moment, like a student caught in a forbidden romance.
She quickly withdrew her hand and looked at Ji Tingyang with a feigned calm, “Did you just get off work? Why are you coming back so late?”
“Are you hungry? Let’s go in and have Aunt Zhang make dinner.”
She hurriedly grabbed Ji Tingyang’s hand, wanting to lead him into the house.
However, Ji Tingyang stood still, “You go in first.”
His words were addressed to Lin Xu, but his eyes were locked on Xie Changyan.
“I…” Lin Xu looked at both men, hesitating.
Xie Changyan chuckled softly and said to Lin Xu, “Go inside.”
“All right.” Lin Xu shuffled her feet and whispered “Don’t fight” in Xie Changyan’s ear before reluctantly heading inside the house, glancing back every few steps.
Then, as if worried, she leaned against the window looking out toward the front door.
Fearing that the two of them would come to blows.
The air at the entrance grew still for a moment as Xie Changyan casually stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked at him, breaking the silence first, “Have something to say to me?”
Ji Tingyang’s lips were tightly closed, his cold eyes conveying his distaste, “I believe I’ve told you before, she does not like you.”
A person with a bit of pride like him should have kept his distance by now.
Yet he still shamelessly clung to their mother.
Xie Changyan lifted the corner of his mouth nonchalantly, “So what? I’m the one by her side right now, and besides, even substitutes have their moment to become official.”
Want him to leave?
He couldn’t do it.
It would be better to make her forget that man.
“Since President Xie is so confident…” Ji Tingyang lifted his eyes to glance at him, his tone mockingly, “then why do you still investigate secretly?”
The words fell.
Xie Changyan paused.
Seeing his complexion gradually sour, Ji Tingyang silently sneered.
Xie Changyan wanted to investigate the Ji Family, and no matter how careful, Ji Tingyang would find out.
“Want to know who she liked?” Ji Tingyang said, as if he had caught his tail, lips curling into a smirk.
Xie Changyan’s eyes narrowed slightly, his sharp gaze sweeping toward him.
He took out his phone, selected a photo from the album, and held it up in front of Xie Changyan.
In the photo, two people stood hand in hand on the beach against the sunlight. They stood together intimately, basked in the sunlight, looking warm and sweet as if in a painting.
When Xie Changyan saw the man in the photo, his originally indifferent face began to crack, and his hand in his pocket clenched tightly.
The man in the photo shared several similar features with him—his brows, cheeks, everything. If he wasn’t certain his parents only had him as their son, he might have thought the man in the photo was his brother.
“They were each other’s first love, remarkably affectionate, living a happy and fulfilled life,” Ji Tingyang said in a tone as if recounting a fairy tale, sounding pleased with himself, “They both swore to each other, in this life and the next, they would only love one another.”
Heaven knows how many times Ji Tingyang had watched his parents’ wedding video over and over again.
He could almost recite their vows by heart.
“So you will never stand a chance.” Ji Tingyang seemed triumphant, his eyes brimming with joy, he put away his phone and turned to enter the house.
Xie Changyan remained standing in place.
The face of the man in the photo still lingered in his mind, the veins on his forehead throbbing, causing waves of pain.
What do you think?
