Chapter 47 - 48: Your name is Pei Huaian?

Chapter 47: Chapter 48: Your name is Pei Huaian?

“My surname is Pei, and my given name is Huaian, you can just call me Huaian,” Pei Huaian said with a smile.

“Huaian? Pei Huaian,” Shao He called softly.

When Pei Huaian heard his own name spoken from her lips, it seemed to carry a different feeling, and he couldn’t help but curve his lips into a shallow smile; turns out his name sounded so pleasant. @@novelbin@@

“Thank you for today’s affair, Young Master Pei.” Shao He could tell he had no ill intentions and knew he truly cared for her and Xiao Linzhang, so she didn’t think too much about it.

“We are also friends; thanking me is too polite.”

While they were speaking, Ah Mo rushed in, gave a slight nod to Shao He, and quickly walked up to Pei Huaian’s side.

Leaning over, he whispered a few words in Pei Huaian’s ear, causing his face to change drastically. He then bid farewell to Shao He, and Ah Mo pushed him as they hurriedly left.

Shao He watched their hastening figures disappearing, a hint of worry involuntarily rising in her heart; it seemed something serious must have happened.

She retracted her gaze and brought the two maids to the backyard, giving them a brief introduction before showing them where they would be staying.

The rooms where the two maids would stay were next to hers; through short contact, she noticed their light steps and calloused hands, a sign they were used to practicing martial arts for a long time.

“Are you two sisters?”

Shao He leaned against the door, looking at the two cleaning up the room and asked.

“Yes,” the two stopped their work and looked towards the doorway to answer.

“Who is the elder sister, and who is the younger?”

Qing Shan stepped forward first, “I am the elder sister, Qing Shan.”

Qingxia followed and said, “I am the younger sister, Qingxia.”

“You both know martial arts?”

Seeing that they were young, they must have endured much hardship.

Both nodded together, “We have practiced martial arts since we were young and know some self-defense techniques.”

“Alright, you can continue settling in,” Shao He said without asking further and turned to leave.

In the room left with only Qing Shan and Qingxia, looking at the departing figure, Qingxia leaned in to ask, “Sister, doesn’t our master seem a bit odd?”

Qing Shan replied coldly, “Don’t ask too much about the master’s affairs, and don’t meddle too much. Just do what we are supposed to.”

“Pfft,” Qingxia turned and went back to arranging the bedding.

Time flew by swiftly, and before they knew it, half a month had passed, and the weather outside became colder and colder.

Luo Jiner, who rarely behaved herself, hadn’t come to cause any trouble again, but Pei Huaian had also not come for treatment, which made her somewhat worried.

She had managed to force out some of the cold poison, but without regular bloodletting and hot compresses, the poison could worsen again.

“Doctor, what medicine should I take for my illness?” inquired the patient being seen, looking at the distracted person.

“Anything will do,” Shao He replied absently.

The patient was somewhat bewildered, what did ‘anything will do’ mean?

Yun Qian, hearing her words, came over, “You have only minor symptoms; there’s no need for medication. Just go back and eat more foods that replenish qi and blood.”

“Oh, alright,” the patient rose and left.

Only then did Shao He snap back to reality, massaging her tired forehead, “What brings you here?”

“I see you’ve been distracted lately, is something troubling you?”

Yun Qian had noticed that in recent days, she always seemed to be looking outside as if waiting for someone, the expectant look in her eyes impossible to hide. She would shake her head in disappointment every day before closing time.

This alerted Yun Qian that something was off; since arriving here, Miss Shao had never shown such emotion.

Shao He was silent for a moment, then shook her head, “It’s nothing; Xiao Linzhang has been noisy at night lately, probably just haven’t slept well, it’s no big deal.”

However, Yun Qian did not let down his guard, his intuition telling him that Miss Shao was definitely hiding something.

Yun Qian gave her a look, ultimately choosing not to voice his concerns, but instead offered, “If you’re tired, you should rest. I can tend to the patients today.”

“No, I’m fine, I’ll do it. What if some special patient arrives and I miss them?”

Upon hearing this, Yun Qian guessed that Miss Shao might be waiting for Young Master Pei; he recalled her mentioning that Young Master Pei’s injury required treatment every seven days, and it had been half a month since he last came.

“Miss Shao is worried about Young Master Pei,” Yun Qian stated, his words more a confirmation than a question.

“His leg ailment needs treatment every seven days, or he might suffer a relapse.”

Yun Qian detected a hint of worry in her voice and, considering their recent closeness, warned her, “I suspect Young Master Pei’s identity is not ordinary, he could be a member of the Royal Family.”

His words snapped Shao He to attention. She had always thought of Pei Huaian as a General, but it was also possible that he was from the Royal Family.

“Miss Shao, it might be better to exercise some caution,” Yun Qian advised kindly.

Realizing he might have misunderstood, Shao He smiled and explained, “There’s nothing more than a doctor-patient relationship between Young Master Pei and me.”
