Chapter 63: Chapter 64 Shao He Refuses to Hand Over the Child

After listening to Pei Huaian’s words, Shao He’s eyes brightened, “Thank you.”

The noon sun was very warm, draping its warmth over everyone.

As Pei Huaian pushed Shao He down the street, many passersby gave them curious looks.

Pei Huaian noticed the implicit meaning in her words and discreetly changed the subject, “Doctor Shao, are you still planning to visit Anji Hall for a consultation?”

Shao He shook her head. “I’ve taken the day off today. My visit to Anji Hall is to see a patient.”

Nanny Zhang had undergone surgery a few days ago, and her wounds had almost healed. She should be able to leave today, and Shao He planned to check on her and give a few instructions.

As they spoke, they arrived outside Anji Hall. Shao He looked at her and smiled, “Whether or not you can help with the household registration, I owe you my thanks.”

Shao He entered the clinic and went straight to Nanny Zhang’s room.

Nanny Zhang, who was packing her belongings, saw her and smiled excitedly. She took out the silver she had saved and presented it to her, saying, “Thank you, Doctor Shao, for saving my life. This is a token of my gratitude.”

Seeing her gaze, Nanny Zhang continued, “I previously took care of a lady and her child in a household. They went to do business elsewhere and left me some money as my retirement fund.”

Shao He only took one tael of silver, saying, “There’s no need for so much, keep the rest for yourself.”

Upon hearing she had experience caring for children, curiosity piqued, Shao He inquired, “You’ve taken care of children before? How old? And for how long?”

“I do need a nanny to care for a child, but…”

Shao He appeared hesitant. To alleviate her concerns, Zhang immediately added, “I can sign a servitude contract, so Doctor Shao can feel more secure.”

After a moment of contemplation, Shao He agreed, “Alright, sign the servitude contract, and come with me today.”
