Chapter 283: Chapter 283: A Body Full of Wounds
After finishing the gynecological exam, Abigail went to the ultrasound room to check on her uterine recovery.
It was better than expected, but other aspects were less optimistic.
Due to excessive weight gain in a short period, she developed acute gastric dilation. Though it wasn’t severe enough to require surgery, it was troublesome and needed long-term treatment.
She also had tachycardia and chronic digestive ulcers, both caused by binge eating.
As for high blood sugar, it was triggered by obesity. There were many other minor ailments, too.
Previously, Abigail had occasionally felt dizzy and had discomfort in her upper abdomen. She guessed that her original body’s health was not very good. But when she actually got the physical examination report and saw this scarred body, she felt a deep sense of pain and sympathy for her former self.
...
She wondered how that eighteen-year-old girl grew up and how she endured the ten-month pregnancy to give birth to the child.
Holding the report tightly, a rush of anger filled her chest.
As she descended the steps, still deep in thought, Pullan, who was assigned to protect her, limped over to retrieve the report.
Bang!
Carelessly, Abigail bumped into something. She quickly stepped back and looked up, seeing Jeffrey Foster in a white coat, followed by several other doctors from the hospital.
The person she had bumped into was a tall, pretty female doctor among them.
Abigail recognized her. It was Irene Wallis, her last assistant before she died. Irene had a good background, outstanding skills, and was already capable of performing surgeries independently while working under her.
She was a very competent assistant with a strong learning ability, a natural doctor with great potential.
If not for her sudden death, she would have probably recommended to her senior brother to let Irene see patients independently.
Seeing Irene now, Abigail felt a tinge of joy.
After being reborn, she realized that even though she had spent a considerable amount of time at Sincere, she hardly knew anyone, let alone had any friends. Irene should have counted as one. @@novelbin@@
However, before she could apologize, she saw her usually respectful and patient assistant, who was always kind to patients, looking at her with disgust. Irene pulled out a wet wipe from her pocket and carefully wiped the place that Abigail had touched, which had no trace of dirt.
Abigail was momentarily stunned and forgot to apologize.
Irene frowned, “Don’t you know how to apologize after bumping into someone?”
“Sorry,” Abigail apologized, lowering her eyes.
But Irene was dissatisfied with her attitude, “Don’t you know your own size? How can you be so careless!”
Abigail was taken aback by this condescending attitude and looked at her again, as if trying to confirm if she was really the assistant she once knew.
“Are you stupid?” Seeing Abigail remain silent, Irene became even angrier.
“So what is my size?” Snapping out of it, Abigail’s tone grew cold.
Irene didn’t expect an obese person to be so arrogant and was about to reprimand her when a man who had been talking to someone in front turned around and asked, “What’s going on?”
Abigail looked over and saw Jeffrey Foster in a white coat. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she felt he looked thinner than when he last consulted with Brandon Piers.
“Dean Foster, it’s nothing. I got bumped into,” Irene explained softly, then her tone changed again, “Be more careful next time.”
“What’s wrong with Miss Abigail?” Pullan came running over, seeing Abigail’s sullen face, and asked anxiously.
“Nothing.”
Abigail responded but noticed Irene’s face suddenly changed. She murmured softly, “Ab… Abigail?”
What do you think?
