Chapter 319: Chapter 319 – His warmth touches my heart

Tsukkomi finished, Abigail was quite surprised that Ruby could make it here. She thought to herself, Ruby really was like a cockroach that couldn’t be killed.
She wondered how Ruby would play her next move? But no matter what, she would accompany her to the end.
And those shares from Lincoln were just the beginning.
Didn’t Ruby and her mother want wealth and glory? Then she would let them experience the feeling of losing it bit by bit.
Rather than immediately sending them to prison, she preferred to punish them with what they coveted most.
“Are you okay?” Brandon sensed the change in Abigail’s emotions and suddenly reached out to hold her hand, asking softly.
Abigail was stunned. She looked at the man’s warm, dry hand holding her chubby hand and was momentarily at a loss.
When she was led in earlier, she thought this man was just pretending, but now, hearing the concern in his gentle voice, she was a bit confused. Could it be that this man actually liked chubby women?
She hadn’t forgotten how he had suddenly stopped her from dieting the other day.
Seeing the confusion in Abigail’s eyes, Brandon couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache. Had this fool never been cared for before? She felt uncomfortable even when others showed her kindness. This only made him feel more heartbroken. He squeezed her soft little hand and said, “If you don’t like that woman being here, I’ll have someone kick her out.”
Abigail said, “…It’s okay.”
If she were kicked out, how would she watch her perform?
But what was up with this guy? He had been acting weirder and weirder lately!
In her previous life, Abigail had depended on her grandfather for survival. But unlike Grandfather Piers, he was very strict. Otherwise, he would not have been so angry as to cut ties with her when she gave up studying traditional Flowery medicine for surgery at sixteen.
But she knew deep down that her grandfather always cared about her. It was just that he was stubborn then, and she was young and hot-headed. In a fit of anger, she went to Yale. Then, to prove herself right, she studied frantically. Later, she returned to Gills City to live. The last time she saw her grandfather was half a year before her sudden death when she went to Swallow City to celebrate his seventieth birthday.
She could feel that her grandfather was happy then, but unfortunately, before the birthday banquet was over, she had to fly back to Gills City for an emergency surgery. Who could have thought that it would be their last goodbye?
Probably because of this growing environment, both she and her grandfather became reserved. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have harbored a secret crush on her senior for years.
Brandon’s sudden warmth threw Abigail off, but her heart inexplicably felt warmer.
Behind them,
Ruby sat diagonally behind Abigail, staring at the tightly held hands of Brandon and Abigail, her whole body turning cold.
They had ruined her leg, destroyed her reputation, tricked away her shares, and made her an outcast. Now she was about to marry a piece of garbage.
But what about them?
They acted like true love prevailed over everything in front of everyone. If it wasn’t to disgust her, then what for?
When she entered this charity dinner, Ruby never thought she would lose. But at this moment, watching Brandon’s gentle and considerate behavior towards Abigail, her last nerve broke.
She wanted to strangle that chubby girl right there.
She also wanted to ask Brandon where exactly she lagged behind that chubby girl.
Exactly how did she fall short compared to that chubby girl?
“Want revenge?” Just when Ruby was mired in malicious emotion, a low male voice suddenly sounded in her ear.
Adam got so close to her that she could feel the heat of his breath in her ear, making her shiver. She turned her head in disbelief toward him, “Master Adam, I… It’s not what you think.”
“Whether it is or not, I just want to ask if you want revenge?” Adam, like a little devil enticing her, spoke while revealing a pair of sharp canines, which looked white and slightly cute.
Half bewitched, Ruby nodded involuntarily and no longer cared about ruining her image. She didn’t need any image now because she found out she and Adam were actually the same kind of people.
The only difference was she hated Abigail.
Adam hated Brandon.
And now their goals were aligned.
“Yes.” When she uttered this word, a tinge of madness flickered in Ruby’s eyes.
Adam liked women cultivated by desire. Easy to control.
“Good.” Adam curved his lips in satisfaction.
Ruby couldn’t wait to ask, “How will we take revenge?”
“Do you hate Brandon?” Adam continued to coax her.
Ruby nodded, “I do.”
“And how about that chubby girl?” Adam pointed in Abigail’s direction.
Ruby gritted her teeth, “I hate her.” She even wanted to eat her flesh and drink her blood.
“Then let’s cooperate.” Adam tossed out the lure, smiling at Ruby.
“How do we cooperate?” Ruby tightened her grasp in anticipation. If she could cooperate with Adam, it would be like collaborating with the second branch of the Piers family. Wouldn’t that mean she could easily deal with a sickly girl and a chubby one?
Adam chuckled wickedly, “A clever girl like you must have already guessed.”
Ruby immediately thought of the Piers shares in Lincoln Green’s hands. The corner of her lips rose, “Sure, but I’d like to hear Master Adam’s conditions. After all, Piers shares aren’t something just anyone can have.”
Adam raised his eyebrows. He liked obedient and sensible girls. And girls willing to negotiate were always good girls in his eyes. He extended two fingers.
Ruby frowned, “Twenty million?”
Piers shares weren’t worth just that much. The yearly dividends alone surpassed that amount!
Adam shook his head, “Guess again.”
Ruby’s mouth dropped open, “Two hundred million?”
“Smart.” Adam smirked contentedly, watching her reaction.
Two hundred million?
Ruby knew the Piers family was wealthy, and she had estimated that the five percent share’s annual dividends were significant. Moreover, these shares played a decisive role in the power struggle within the Piers family. But she hadn’t expected Adam to start negotiations at two hundred million!
Over the years, she and her mother prided themselves on having considerable insight within the Green family. They saw themselves as worldly. But she never dared to dream of two hundred million.
How much money was that?
How many bags and luxury items could she buy with that?
Ruby felt like she was going crazy. With two hundred million, why marry into wealth? She would be true wealth herself!
“If you’re not satisfied, we can renegotiate.” Adam watched Ruby, trying to contain her excitement, and threw her a further incentive.
Ruby looked up in disbelief. Not satisfied and could renegotiate?
“But…” Adam deliberately paused.
Ruby urgently asked, “But what?”
“I need to ensure the shares are in the Green family, specifically in your hands.” Adam’s gaze suddenly sharpened, coldly staring at Ruby.
Still in a state of extreme excitement, Ruby was stunned. Her feverish mind began to cool. She realized the Piers shares weren’t in her hands yet.
Thinking that her mother had arranged everything with Lincoln today, she believed it was only a matter of time before getting the shares. She paused and said to Adam, “That’s only natural, but I must discuss with my parents about the shares. Can I confirm with you later, Master Adam?”
“Of course.”
