Chapter 736 People Reaction
18th March 1661
The Bharatiya Empire has officially stepped into the period of preparation for the elections that are going to be held in November. Campaigns have finally started to be held in full force, and all the politicians and aspiring politicians of the empire are trying their best to convey their ideas and ideology to the people of the empire, hoping their best that they could impress the vast majority of people in order to get elected.
Even the Cabinet ministers of the central government and the state government, taking the opportunity in their free time, have allocated themselves schedules so that at least one person in the house is out campaigning for votes in order to make sure that they would not be out of people's view for too long.
It is in these campaigns that a new innovative method of campaigning was brought forward by the politician of Solanki Puri, Minister of the Parliament Narasimha Modi, who has bought out all the advertisement space from as many local newspapers as possible.
At first, his investors did not understand what he was doing in throwing out all the money they had given him in order to campaign to buy advertisement spaces in newspapers, but a few days later, they no longer asked any questions. Instead, they further praised and were overjoyed because of Narasimha Modi's foresight and their own choice.
On average, 4000 to 8000 people used to show up for Narasimha Modi's campaign speech before advertising in the newspaper, but after the advertisement was made, this number shot up several times and reached tens of thousands in major cities. It even reached hundreds of thousands of people in Surat. Ironically enough, this even made headlines in the Bharatan Daily newspaper. The normal readers of the newspaper had a few chuckles seeing that an article about the advantages of advertising in the newspaper was written in another newspaper, but the elites of the society and the politicians keenly noticed this brilliant strategy.
With the pioneering work of Narasimha Modi, other politicians who were quick to understand the strategic weapon that was the newspaper immediately dished out all the money of their investors in order to buy a slot of their own in their respective local areas.
Even Vinod got involved in this matter, and his campaign slogan of 'Strong Bharat now and stronger Bharat tomorrow' had been plastered in various newspapers like the Bharatham Daily, Times of Bharat, and The Observer around the week. Everyone in the empire knew, due to the political donations that were made public, that Prime Minister Vinod had a lot of funds, especially from the top industrialists of the empire who donated hundreds of thousands of Varaha to him, but they did not expect him to splurge like this on news advertisements.

At a time like this, when no one was expecting it, a major bill like ' The Bharatiya Empire Population Growth and Cultural Expansion Bill, 1661 ', was made public. Stay connected with My Virtual Library Empire@@novelbin@@
Be it the middle class, the aspirational class, the high class, or the elite class, all of them were shocked. They never even heard rumours about this, not to mention anticipating it. Although people did notice that there were a few places in the newspapers where government officials casually, as if unintended, mentioned the benefits of a large population, no one made the connection to it and the policy that had just been released.
Almost immediately, the economic and cultural academia was in shambles as all the professors in their respective fields scrambled to get out the research paper before the other person in order to not only gain a lot of merit but also to absorb the highest degree of popularity.
This is a field where the early bird gets the worm, and the professors of various Bharatiya Institute of Technologies and other universities which have economics majors wanted to be the first to give out the opinion of people like them, the academics, to the general public.
The professor of economy, Abhijit Kumar Sen, was once again the winner in this academic struggle because not only was he the top academic economist of the Bharatiya Empire, but he also had the biggest advantage of being a permanent contributor to the business newspaper of the Raya Media Corporation. So he was given a heads-up about the news that was about to be published today. Although the heads-up was only a few hours before the news dropped, it was still a lot of time for a professor like him, who controlled the research and analytical resources of a whole department in the top university of the country, which allowed him to get ahead of the others by a lot.
"All the eggs cannot be put in the same basket."
"I applaud the initiative taken by His Majesty, and I respect the government for having the courage and bravery to implement it with such considerations."
"I was previously confused as to why Bharatiya Stack had to be dropped in such a hurry since the identity cards could be slowly issued without having to suddenly increase the workforce of the government but looking at this new bill put forward by the parliament, it opened my eyes."
"The bill does not explicitly mention that it is about the colonization of foreign lands, but in practice, it is no different. We will be sending millions of our own citizens to these lands to occupy the land and make it productive."
"Though there is a silver lining that we are not waging any wars against any established kingdoms, nations, or empires, and we will not be exterminating the people like the European colonizers, and we will try to make the aborigines our own. But is this still called colonization? I don't know. The professors in the cultural department should give an answer to this terminology."
"But with only economics being considered, this is a brilliant strategy which has many benefits such as the expansion of the market, increasing productivity, expansion of economic influence, expansion of resource channels, expansion of strategic alliances, and expansion of trade ties with other countries."
Abhijit Kumar further went on to mention each and everything in detail.
The news was maintained on the first page of the Bharatham Daily newspaper, which caught the attention of a lot of people. Practically speaking, his article should have been written in the business weekly, but the news about the bill was large enough that the editors of Bharatham Daily made a decision that there was no way they could ignore such news in today's newspaper.
Abhijit Kumar Sen further wrote a more detailed article for the business weekly newspaper, but that is another matter completely.
All the middle class, higher class, and the elites who read the newspaper were greatly surprised, and they quickly understood the benefits brought by the bill. Even the women's organization that Kavya had established became unusually silent and did not make any trouble by claiming that this bill was exploiting women, which even caught Vijay off guard. But after further exploration, he quickly understood the reason. In this era, people do not find it wrong to have more children. The only reason they cannot is because of resource constraints, but as long as these constraints are absent, having more children is not unethical. The other reason, Kavya herself was pregnant, and the news had already spread throughout the empire. Being the nominal leader of the women's association, the people running the association could not really refute or criticize the bill in the view of women.
As for the aspirational class, although they did not directly receive the news about The Bharatiya Empire Population Growth and Cultural Expansion Bill, 1661 through the newspaper, they heard the news through local officials, news screamers running around the village, and by word of mouth.
Hearing the news, they were extremely excited.
"Hey wife, good news! Chintu's food fees for two times a day, transportation, education, and hospital fees will all be free until he turns 14 years old, and it will be cut off in the remaining six years," a husband happily ran over to his wife with a wide smile on his face.
He was a labourer working for a construction company in the northern part of the empire, and the salary he got was enough to maintain his family of three at relatively good living conditions, where he even had some spare money with which he bought a small plot of land. But now, with this new bill, even his child's expenses would no longer be a burden on him.
Although he could manage all the fees on his own, who would say no to such a good thing? He was already thinking of having another child since his conditions were so good, but with the bill brought by the government and remembering the tax reduction clause the contractor mentioned, he now thinks that it is not too bad to have a few more children.
Looking at the lewd expression on her husband's face, the wife's neck immediately turned beet red, her eyes became red, and her cheeks became pink like a peach.
Her husband, who was already ready to move, could not hold on anymore. With a scream, the door of their house closed, and the sound of exercise soon began to be heard.
The baby-making season of the Bharatiya Empire officially kickstarted, bringing in the first generation of children of the Bharatiya Empire who would have the opportunity to be landlords as soon as they were born.
What do you think?
