Chapter 748: New members of the Family

’Bang!’

The door of the study room burst open, even the hard oakwood showed signs of cracking.

Everything happened between light and flint, as Kavya was rushed by the nurses and doctors onto a stretcher and pushed away without asking Vijay’s consent. Vijay, though, running from behind, didn’t care that his wife was taken away without his permission—he had far more grave things to worry about. Fortunately, the royal family has an inbuilt treatment room, whose facilities are not lower than any top-rated hospital. In fact, it might be even more advanced since Vijay had access to all the precision manufacturing companies in the Bharatiya Empire, not to mention the royal family runs the most advanced precision manufacturing facility in the world, Venkatappathi Scientific. All these, added with top medical professionals like Dr Vinay, Dr Godavari, Dr Vishwa Swaroop, and Dr Madhava Velan, were all rushing to the treatment room at a moment’s notice.

Normally, all the top doctors couldn’t be gathered together unless there were special conditions or an academic meetup on medicine and medical practice. But Vijay put a personal invite to all the doctors to stay back in the capital until Kavya’s difficult time had passed. Naturally, the doctors all agreed. If it were anyone else, even if it was a king, they would definitely reject the invite, since their absence from their respective hospitals and serving some high-ranking official would mean that many people would not receive their services. But since it was His Majesty himself, and most of them, if not all, had only become doctors because of the policies implemented by His Majesty, as a show of respect, gratitude, and as a way to repay what they owe, they agreed.

"ghhhh!"

Sounds of heavy breathing and grunts were being heard from within the treatment room. Vijay was feeling a little restless, but already having the necessary experience, he was still somewhat calm.

Soon enough, his uncle and aunt, Ravi Shetty and Nirmala Shetty, along with his niece, hurried over.

Aunt Nirmala immediately came forward with a worried look, frequently glancing at the treatment room. "Kavya? is everything alright?" she asked. Leela’s ears perked up as she wanted to know the answer to this question too.

Vijay reluctantly smiled, "It should be alright. The Dr. has yet to find any complications. It should be over soon."

The family of three immediately let out a sigh of relief.

The next moment, Vijay saw Aditya Bhosale rushing in with his wife and son.

Aditya hurriedly rushed forward and immediately held Vijay’s hand. "Is Kavya all right?" he asked, worried as he kept looking at the treatment room. With every grunt and scream, Aditya’s expression became uglier. Looking at his face, Vijay didn’t know how to react, everything was like déjà vu. Aditya’s reaction last time was practically the same, so Vijay, who was a bit more composed, patiently explained the matter to him, giving him some reassurance and easing his tension a little.

His calm words really worked out because Aditya managed to get ahold of himself, but suddenly remembering something., his heartbeat increased again. He looked at Vijay with some hesitation, thinking about whether to say it or not. But finally, cursing himself in his mind, ’You have only one sister god damn it. If not now, then when?’, he roared, hesitantly looking at Vijay’s face, his heart beating out of his chest. Still, making the determination and thinking that this was not the first time he had asked such a thing, he carefully requested, "Vijay, if you have to make a choice between Kavya and your children, please pick Kavya," he pleaded, in an almost begging posture. If it were any other time, Vijay would be greatly offended, since saying this is the same as cursing either his wife or child to die. But Vijay, looking at the miserable middle-aged man, only felt uncomfortable. He put his hand on Aditya’s shoulder and consoled him. He could understand that Aditya only said such a thing due to his love for his sister.

Come to think of it, when Agni was about to be born, he said something similar—maybe this was a good omen, Vijay thought in his heart.

Vijay looked at Aditya’s eyes, which almost grovelled at him to accept his request. Vijay could tell if it was not for little Rajendra who was watching, maybe Aditya would really kneel down.

Harshpreet Bhosale, his sister-in-law, seemed to feel the turbulent emotions of her husband, so she worriedly held his hand. And Rajendra Bhosale II, feeling the sombre atmosphere around him, immediately became silent, and his face took on a worried colour.

Even his uncle Ravi Shetty and Aunt Nirmala Shetty, along with his niece Leela, cast their worried looks onto Vijay. Maybe if this was 6 to 7 years ago when Vijay was newly married to Kavya, they would have hoped that the child would survive. But after knowing Kavya deeply for almost a decade, everyone in the hall had the same intention.

Vijay let out a deep breath. For him, the choice was tortuous, not because it was hard to make since if push came to shove, he would prioritize his wife, but because the whole idea of him having to choose is literally like sending him to hell and boiling his whole body in a hot pot of oil.

It was like asking, "Which way do you want to be destroyed?" And the answer being, no matter which way he picks, in the end, he would still be getting destroyed, Just as even if Kavya survives and his child did not, he would feel like his choice had already killed him emotionally.

This was the same question he hated the last time, and even thinking about it made him nauseous, and nothing had changed since then.

Vijay quickly shook his head and refused to make a choice. "Don’t worry, brother-in-law, such a thing won’t happen. I have called all the best medical professionals in the empire to help with the delivery."

Aditya looked at Vijay’s eyes, which looked very sure and confident, and nodded uncertainly. He was still insecure, but he knew there was nothing he could do, so he simply clenched his fist and remained silent.

The hall became unusually silent, with the only sound resonating being the one coming from within the treatment room.

Every scream and grunt of Kavya made everyone uneasy.

Just then, suddenly, a rhythmic sound of footsteps was heard—it was as if someone was running at full speed.

’Tap!’ ’Tap!’

Everyone turned toward the end of the corridor, and a young boy with pitch-black hair, a cute oval face, and dazzling amber-coloured pupils, which were unusual throughout the world, came running toward the treatment room.

Who else could it be other than Agni, the Prince of the Bharatiya Empire and the only son of His Majesty Vijay Devaraya and the heir of the Royal Devaraya family?

Agni looked really worried. He wasn’t like other children his age—he knew a lot of things—so he could tell that there was a chance he wouldn’t see his mother smiling at him lovingly and feeding him herself anymore.

Even thinking about it brought tears to his eyes.

Ravi Shetty and Aditya both wanted to greet Agni, but as if he had turned a deaf ear, Agni swiftly ran past them and was about to push open the treatment room.

"Agni!"

Though small, a majestic voice stopped him from moving a foot forward.

Agni looked back at his father pleadingly. "Appa!" he cried out as he pointed his hand toward the treatment room. "Amma!" Looking at him, anyone would feel a sense of guilt for making him cry and would want to protect him at all costs.

Looking at him like this, Vijay let out a deep breath and motioned him back.

Agni’s expression fell, and he walked back to his father in heavy steps.

Vijay held his shoulders and comforted him, "Your mother is a strong woman. She will be all right, don’t worry. Let the doctors do their work—your abruptly going inside will only make it harder on them."

Agni was still worried, but he nodded his head obediently.

Things became silent once again, and the shouts began to get louder. Vijay could tell that Agni was getting restless once again, so he immediately motioned to Agni and introduced him to Rajendra.

"Agni, look at this—this is Rajendra, your cousin. You haven’t seen him yet, have you? You can call him brother from now on."

Vijay’s plan worked because Agni was indeed momentarily looking at the big boy in front of him with curiosity. Agni was five years old, but his physique was that of a 7- or 8-year-old child, and his intelligence already put him way ahead. But the boy opposite to him was a few times bigger than him, both in height and in width. Although he couldn’t be called fat, he was definitely chunky—like that of a bear.

Aditya immediately realized what Vijay was doing, so he quickly nudged his son to introduce himself.

Little Rajendra was a few years older than Agni, but his intelligence was normal, comparable to children of his own age. However, what was different was his size and physique, which was completely extraordinary. Even though he was so big, he ran faster than the lean kids in his class, and the amount of weight he could lift was something even some 10-year-old boys could not do. Sometimes, Aditya would even rub his eyes because his son started to look more and more like his late father—whether in physique, looks, or behaviour. Thinking about this, he couldn’t help but smile happily.

Of course, the happiest person in his family was Harshpreet, because she always bore the guilt, thinking that it was because of her that her father-in-law had to sacrifice himself in the battle against the Mughal Empire.

When he was nudged, Rajendra was confused as he did not understand what his father wanted from him. It wasn’t until his mother pinched his waist and whispered something in his ear that he understood what was going on. Then he became excited—he knew that he had a little cousin, but he never got to meet him since his cousin, from an early age, had to be a disciple of an enlightened monk. This was the first time he had seen him.

"Hello, cousin! My name is Rajendra Bhosale II. Nice to meet you. If you have any troubles in the future, you can look for me—I will take care of it for you," he said as he bravely patted his chest with a serious look on his face.

Looking at this scene, Leela, who was watching her little cousins from the side and acting as a spectator, immediately chuckled.

Aditya and Harshpreet immediately had black lines on their foreheads—was this how humans speak? Their expressions immediately became weird because, outwardly, they wanted to maintain a cordial look, but inwardly they were gritting their teeth. ’Where the heck did this kid learn all this from? I must teach him a good lesson,’ Aditya thought to himself as he felt like his fists were getting a little itchy.

Even Vijay looked at this little guy with interest.

Surprisingly enough, the introduction of Rajendra actually brought a little smile to Agni’s face because he could see that Rajendra was a person whose aura was pure brown, meaning he was a loyal and very dependable person without any scheming behaviour.

Agni was about to respond, but suddenly, a cry of a baby broke out from the treatment room.

" Wahhhh Wahhhh "

Just when everyone was happy a similar cry broke out once again

"Wahhhh! Wahhhh!"

"Haha!" Ravi Shetty burst out laughing, Nirmala joined her hands in prayer and profusely thanked God, Leela immediately jumped with joy, and Aditya kept muttering, "T-t-tt-twins?"

"Ha ha! Is it actually twins?"

He could no longer control the tears in his eyes. "How good it would be if Father was present at this moment," he lamented.

Vijay, who heard this, couldn’t help but become a little sad because their family was now a family without any elderly figures. The only person he looked up to as a fatherly figure, Ravi Chandra Rao, had passed away, and even his maternal grandfather, Sunil Shetty, was on his deathbed. His grandfather, Venkata II, had already died, and even Kavya’s father, Rajendra, had passed away. In the end, he simply shook his head in disappointment.

Aditya, who was laughing heartily with tears glistening in his eyes, suddenly stopped because he realized that the chances of something going wrong after giving birth to twins were higher than with a single baby.

His fists were immediately clenched, and he started to chant the Hanuman Chalisa, hoping to gain some confidence.

Everyone slowly, one by one, realized this and became silent.

Vinay came out of the room, removed his headwear and mask, smiled, and replied, "Both the mother and children are safe. Congratulations, Your Majesty—you have a prince and a princess."

P.S. I used to take satisfaction in my work by eating a lot of junk food. Thankfully, after going to the gym, I feel like it is no longer necessary. Even though I’m tired, I don’t feel particularly down, and I feel very motivated. So, everyone, I suggest you do some activity that helps you break out a lot of sweat—even if it is not for your health, it will keep your mind sane and keep you motivated.
